    19:33
For 60fps, a frame is rendered every 16.7 milliseconds. For 30fps, a frame is rendered every 33.3 milliseconds.
But for 40fps, a frame is rendered every 25 milliseconds, which is halfway between 16.7 and 33.3 milliseconds (8.3 milliseconds).
40fps is only a 10 fps gain over 30fps, yet it feels 50% better than 30fps during gameplay.
For consistency, frame time is even more important than framerate.
    Epic video!

So glad i found this. So often, these steam deck tutorial videos call the process super easy, only to skip over the hardest parts you actually need help with. Leaving you to your own devices to mess everything up. Most tutorials are so vapid and unhelpful, hiding behind fancy editing, while the actual meat of the video is condescending ghat gpt level instructions. Glad you made the video with an actual person in mind. Rarely comment praise like this, but playing an old favourite, the way i remember it, without wanting to rip my hair out in the process is a true blessing.

Great video. This might go unnoticed but something I had to change was the right trigger behaviour. The default is a hair trigger which makes driving feel like you are either accelerating or not.
I switched the right analog behaviour to “Simple Threshold “ and reduced the threshold point. I also reduced the trigger range start which overall feels much better to drive with.

@ apologies, I assumed the dxvk mod changes the native renderer to vulkan from directx potentially aiding in better Linux performance? I’m still quite new to Linux however. In my mind it’s less to translate using it if that’s how it works?

    • @Fesiug
      @Fesiug Месяц назад +2

@@G59Loser Can't use DirectX on Linux in the first place, but atleast with GTA IV DXVK on both Windows and Linux improves the performance because the translation is leaner than the Direct3D 9 or 10 being used in IV

I think I'm buying a Steam Deck this month. I have GTA IV sitting in my library since ages despite never really owning the PC hardware for it, but I bought it because it was on a ridiculous sale and I remember this game fondly when I played it all the way back on the PS3. truly the best GTA story ever made was well in my opinion, Nico was just such a down-to-earth and relatable character and the overall setting of Liberty City just felt more 'real' compared to other titles.
Can't wait to play it and to even enhance it with the privilege of modding on a (quasi) PC like the Steam Deck! :D

Nice! Thanks so much, these mods make playing it after all these years again worth it, now I just have to figure out which mods are good on deck because I am trying to add some graphic enhancements like texture upscale since I just want it to stay lore friendly instead of the “8k ULTRA MODDED” look. Content that was scrapped and that has been completed by modders would be great to implement on the deck. Also adding TLATD and TBOGT content into base GTA 4 and vice versa would help make the experience feel like the true complete edition.

Some small notes on Steam Deck:
When in Desktop mode, scrolling is done in circular motion, like on iPods.
In regular Gaming mode, you tap the trackpad edges instead.
When using on-screen keyboard, you can move it up and down by pressing START/Menu button on Deck.

  • @HumanBungle

17:21 if your GTAIV folder isn’t installed on desktop you might have some issues here as the steam folder where GTA is installed is hidden by default and you can’t un-hide it from within the installer (as far as I can see).
From steam library right click gta, click manage and browse local files. Enter GTAIV folder then right click and copy the path of the folder. Then run the installer and copy/paste the path into the box.
However this still won’t be recognised. You need to add Z: at the beginning, then change all of the \’s to / (to mimic windows paths). This is also tricky on steam deck though (personally I pasted the path into a textedit app and edited it there). Once you’ve done that it’ll recognise the install folder and patch it fine. Works perfectly 👌

Just vanilla and default settings are good enough for me.
And I run 1920 x 1200 resolution on Steam Deck. It is possible when you know some unique features from gamescope.

Your videos are awesome and super helpful. Any idea if you will ever make a mod series/guide on red dead redemption 2?

I wished this game handled mixed inputs well because I really like gyro aiming and that’s best mapped to a mouse.

Last time i tried modding GTA IV, i had to keep creating new save games as the bowling, mini games and computers all stopped working.
Only way to fix it was to restart on a new save. Very heart breaking to learn it the hard way

In the most recent GTA 5 update they killed steam deck support. It not longer functions and requires kernel level anti-cheat only available through Windows.
