- Universal Studios Orlando Islands of Adventure is known for swapping out old rides, attractions, and lands for newer properties and newer technology. With this trend in mind, Universal Orlando Resort fans have speculated about which land could be replaced next. The heavy favorites in Universal Studios Florida are Woody Woodpecker's KidZone and World Expo. While in Islands of Adventure Universal Studios Orlando, the favorites are The Lost Continent and Toon Lagoon. In this video I discuss which of these options is realistic for Islands of Adventure Universal Orlando and the time frame for when a replacement could happen.

I love Toon Lagoon to bits, it’s currently my favorite land at any Universal park. I’d hate to see the entire land be replaced or rethemed, but I feel that keeping a portion of the land in the water rides and expanding upon them a bit is a good compromise to it being flat out removed.
I would be so mad. The rides there are so much fun even though they are water rides.
Yea I love that kind of cartoon and it’s a weird nostalgic feeling for me I love it
Hopefully, that land should be rethemed as Nickelodeon Nicktoon Lagoon with SpongeBob SquarePants, The Loud House, The Wild Thornberrys, and other Nicktoons!
@@carminecdinoproductions Not likely. Universal is more likely to use one of the properties that they own with Dreamworks or Illumination.

Ok
The reason Universal hasn't done anything with Spongebob recently, or Nickelodeon in general, is not because Spongebob or the Nick IP's are "old", some of them are still very much lucrative IP's, but because they'd be directly competing with the Nickelodeon Universe parks at Mall of America and the American Dream Mall, as well as the Nickelodeon Land area of SeaWorld.
Nickelodeon is also owned by Viacom now, so I don't even think Universal has any commercial rights to Spongebob anymore anyways.
Unless something changed they still have a Nickelodeon land at Kings Island.

I just really hope Revenge of the Mummy never gets replaced.
I like Mummy a lot. Hell it’s even one of my favorite roller coasters in general. But honestly considering the quality of Universal’s recent new rides (with the exception of Fast and the Furious which was doomed from the start) I would not mind them getting rid of it if they had a truly inspired idea for a replacement
Same!
I want the ride’s story to be reworked to match the same story as the USH version and still keep all the stuff from the original version!
Nah they can’t replace the Mummy. They should get rid of Fast & Furious one it’s horrible and not a lot of people enjoy it.

True but he's so loveable to kids not to adults that loved the first 3 seasons. It still sells well is what I'm saying.
Overexposure kills though...
Spongebob is still a relic from the past no matter how much money Nickelodeon attempts to milks from it.
That's the part where your wrong. He's still relevant and the newer season are starting too be good again. If he's a relic from the past then no kid will never even remember him. Also Nick milks the merchandise not the show sometimes.
Loved your point about the nostalgia of Disney making too much untouchable. I was sad when Universal got rid of back to the future, jaws, and dueling dragons but realistically there was so much benefit added. Having one untouchable ride (E.T.) seems fair. I never realized how much open space there is at MIB or by Toon Lagoon. Very compelling arguments.
It totally sucks when Universal gets rid of a classic and well known ride!

How Jimmy Fallon got a ride....just makes me barf.
I would love to see a potential return of Ghostbusters, I mean Men In Black was a Columbia Pictures property so they could potentially find a good replacement for that.
Ghostbusters was one of my favorite attractions as a kid back then and honestly I would freaking love for them to replace Men In Black Alien Attack with Ghostbusters. The body work is there already and heck modernizing it the Ecto-1 and you’re going out into the streets of New York or Orlando and busting ghosts......
Just thinking of at the very end your final Ghost to capture is Gozer or even bringing back Viggo The Carpathian......you’d make it both fun and add some epic scares.
Yeah and the cool thing about that too is that they could leave the worlds fair observation towers there since Ghostbusters and MIB both take place in New York.
Or a Ghostbusters dark ride to replace Jimmy Fallon or located adjacent to Men in Black!
Apparently Mark Woodbury (head of Universal Creative) declined Jimmy's request, but Mr. Fallon went to the head of NBCUniversal, who then forced Mr. Woodbury to build the ride.
I think Ghostbusters has a high chance of coming back
I agree but wouldn't be cool if Mummy got rethemed to Ghostbusters
Men In Black Alien Attack should not be replaced. This is one of my favorite rides at Universal Orlando.
i KNOW. i saw the thumbnail and GASPED. don’t even SUGGEST taking it away, universal has no shame. the only reason ET isn’t chopped liver is because steven spielberg himself has already made it clear he will cut all ties if they close it.

Nah, that’s not the reason why universal will refuse to do anything spongebob or nick related...
The lost continent was cool about 20 years ago when i last went to the park. They had blacksmiths shops and market tents and sold HUGE turkey legs. They had live action shows randomly in certain places. It was really cool. Dueling Dragons and Posiedens fury are two of my favorite rides. Posiedens Fury was great for taking a break from the sun for a good 20 minutes. Ill miss it. But new rides are always great. Toon Lagoon HAS to stay, they represent cartoons early days in a way that tickles my nostalgia. Dudley Do Right and Popeye were huge in my childhood and im only 32. The Dagwood sandwich? Amazing. So many good memories in that section and i really hope they dont take it out ever.
Spongebob is so much more relevant than the theme in Toon lagoon.
Yeah, because it’s popular with modern kids on Nickelodeon!
Not for long. Since the show just ended, it’s gonna lose popularity fairly quickly. Most kids I know haven’t even heard of Spongebob. While yes, it is still more relevant than Toon Lagoon; they need something much more current and popular that would last them 20 years

Toon Lagoon is so unique and pays tribute to historical IPs, much like Magic Kingdom at Disney. It plays super well into the theming of Cabana Bay Beach Resort too (another water-attraction family area w/lazy river & water slides), so I really doubt that Universal will be getting rid of it.
Any additional Nintendo land besides the main one to me seems like a long shot.

Here’s my list of ideas for replacements for the KidZone land at Universal Studios Florida!
- Pokemon (possible)
- Nickelodeon KidZone (a possible replacement due to having a SpongeBob themed store but with a SpongeBob SquarePants water ride, a Reptar-Go-Round carousel, a Loud House themed flat ride, etc.!)
- DreamWorks KidZone (another possible replacement due to Comcast owning both Universal and DreamWorks with a relocated Shrek 4D, a Madagascar carousel, a Shrek dragon coaster, a Kung Fu Panda water ride, and a Trolls show)
@Big Elite Super Nintendo world is going to be at Epic Universe.
@Justin DePriest Agreed! More Universal Monsters attractions can happen at all three Universal Orlando Resort theme parks!
Pikmin Replace it Better
Here's my suggestion:
KidZone -> Pokemon
Lost Continent -> Zelda
Toon Lagoon -> DreamWorks
Seuss Landing -> Bikini Bottom
Probably don't need much of an explanation for the first two, but I'll explain my own ideas for the rest.
DreamWorks: Sorry guys, while the water rides stay, they won't have the original themes. Popeye and Bluto's could probably be rethemed to Shrek considering the swamp aspect, and maybe Dudley Do Right's becomes Kung Fu Panda? HTTYD wouldn't be included in this land due to it getting its own land (presumably) in Epic Universe. And as much as it pains me to say it, the abandoned theater sticks around yet again, but this time for a Trolls dance party. It's probably the least they can do with it unless maybe they knock it down and add in a trackless dark ride or something. Also yes I know Shrek already appears at USF, but not for long as it gets gutted and replaced by the Secret Life of Pets while the theater between Fallon and Minions is used as a karaoke competition themed to the Sing movie.
Bikini Bottom (Spongebob): Dr Seuss fans, I'm sorry to inform you that Seuss Landing is aging...badly. The Cat in the Hat ride is creepy as all hell, OFTFRFBF rivals Small World for the most annoying theme park song, and do both trolley tracks even work anymore? The whole land needs a fresh new coat of paint, and I think a stroll through the nautical world of Bikini Bottom would be a well needed replacement. First off, you could eat at the Krusty Krab, shop at the Barg N Mart, tour Spongebob's home, test out Plankton's new evil invention on a crazy flat ride, drive your own boat at Mrs Puff's Boating School (technically it would be the same sorta stuff as the driving schools at the Legoland Parks or Alton Towers but except with boats), and if there's space, maybe we get to ride the Fiery Fist O' Pain? (ok maybe that's a stretch considering HRRR is right next door, but maybe?) Just imagining all this stuff is making me excited.
1999: I was really way better.
2021: Not okay with that.
Fantastic Video! Please keep up this kind of content.

If they just put nintendo in one single park, that will draw people out from the other resorts so it make sense if they open another nintendo land in other park like they did with HP and will be doing with HP+Fantastic Beasts. Saturday at around 10:30 it was at capacity (we were able to get in because we were staying at Surfside Dockside). Hoping that with the California parks closed, Universal Orlando is seeing some lessening of Covid impact due to folks who might normally go to CA going instead to FL.

I think replacing toon lagoon should be a spongebob land, and they already have Spongebob Storepants so that can stay:) There should be a ride where maybe it's one of the rides from glove world? It could so be a water ride of sorts but idk... A food place would be The Krusty Krab. And of course, there might be a Gary ride, where you ride Gary. Similar to the Yoshis Adventure for nintendo land, this ride will be an omni over family ride, where you encounter Bikini Bottom citizens as you go along. At one point, Plankton will show and spray water at you. The final thing here would be some interactive Animatronics of Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, Mr Krabs, and more!

Hagrids good I really wut it to stay
I agree with your order of importance. And honestly the solutions seem simple.
1. Kidzone: Demolish everything (except E.T.), and also get rid of Springfield. I know you made a video, but I doubt they'll keep the Simpsons. Kidzone + Springfield gives them a big plot of land, and just give that to Dreamworks movies (except How to Train Your Dragon). Plus, I thought the rumor was Pokemon going next to Super Nintendo World in EU?
2. Lost Continent: Just give it to Zelda. Once all of the offices are moved to Epic Universe, there'll be a LOT of room behind the Lost Continent to make more space. Posideon's Fury + Sinbad + new space leaves plenty of room for Hyrule.
3. Toon Lagoon: Assuming rumors are true, make the whole thing Middle Earth and keep the water rides. Popeye can be the Mirkwood River Barrels and Dudley can be the Lonely Mountain. You simply can't put ALL of Middle-Earth in 1 section, so IoA gets The Hobbit and EU gets LOTR. Hobbit isn't as popular as LOTR, but fans won't care, and most of the appeal is the atmosphere anyway.
4. World Expo: Idk. By the time they get to it (in the 2030s) I'm sure a new IP will appear. I'd guess Fear Factor will be an expansion pad for Diagon Alley though (that area needs more to do).
Toon Lagoon Getting Retheme to Pikmin World Similar to Pandora The World of Avatar from Animal Kingdom
Here's how I would do everything you mentioned and what IPs:
1.) For Kid Zone, I would give a major expansion and divide it in half with major overhauls; the front half would still have its original name, Animal Actors, and ET but the other attractions would have properties be changed to Trolls and My Little Pony while the back half would be its own land of all Pokemon.
2.) Lost Continent gets Zelda makeover
3.) Toon Lagoon shortened to the 2 water rides while the abandoned land next to it gets a Lord of the Rings makeover
4.) World Expo completely overhauled into one of greatest Intellectual properties to now partner with NBC and its Peacock streaming service...WWE; with a WWE overhaul and expansion of World Expo can come with a dark ride makeover, an additional few rides with maybe one roller coaster, and an amphitheater seated Studio for weekly NXT shows on Wednesdays and 205 Live shows on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays.
Other Improvements:
1.) Sally Dark Rides completely overhauling The Cat In The Hat
2.) Fast and Furious Supercharged completely overhauled into a more interactive dark ride or into an indoor roller coaster

we have to remember as well that IOA is based off of literature, so Legend of Zelda can't really go in the lost continent area as it's a video game franchise, not an original book series
I mean that was always pretty much coincidental. Lost Continent and Skull Island don't really fit that narrative anyways. Even if that was fully intentional, I don't think they would care breaking that bring to in Nintendo.
@@AttractionIdeas both of those areas were based off of literature though. King Kong was a novel before it became a film and the lost continent was, less specifically, based off of classic works of literature. Before HP, that portion of the land was based around classic tales of fantasy like King Arthur and the current existing section of the land was based around ancient folktales and mythology from distant places like the middle east (i.e. the old Sinbad show) and the Mediterranean (i.e. Poseidon).
@@TheNFantom King Kong was not a novel before it was a film. There was a novelization of the film that was (as often happens) released before the film, but the book is based on the film, not the other way around.
I think the whole park based on literature ship has sailed long ago, like attraction idea said, it seems more like a coincidence than a carefully detailed premise. This is also considering the fact that the park was originally meant to be entirely dedicated to cartoons during early development
They better not replace ET I love that ride
Wow Great Video
The kid zone has been on the chopping block for a while but the curious George ball pit is my favorite place to lose the crowds and have a fun time away from everything. I think the lost continent or the show building in toon lagoon would be prime spots for something. Id hope if they do something with the MIB area, they leave that ride intact and work around it. A lot of dull space in that zone.
with Epic Universe on hold, it wouldn't shock me if Woody's kidzone turns into Nintendo world
I would actually be really happy since I already have many parts of my childhood in one park(Transformers, Mario, Shrek, Decbecible me 1, and MIB).
YAS
I feel like Marvel Island is a possibility, especially considering Disneys just down the road. I know they have some sort of agreement so disney cant use the characters available at Marvel Island, but I just cant see Universal even being interested in keeping that IP into the future. Im sure that it will be available for at least another 10 years, but i can totally see them getting rid of it eventually. Especially since eventually disney is going to want to go all in on the marvel IP in their parks. Id hate to see it go, but its a definite possibility.
That's if Universal can find an IP to replace Marvel. The only ones that come to mind other than DC (Which it was originally suppose to be before the deal was dropped) is Shonen Jump taking over and we would see different series based on the Mangas like Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, Bleach, and so on. Another candidate is Lord of the Rings, as mentioned in the video, but it would have much more land to work with.
@@RvBnerd618 They wouldn't do DC. Six Flags is whole hog in and over saturated with DC characters. I'd guess they'd probably go with Transformers. Especially since they just cloned Hulk for their Asian park and themed it to TF. It'd be an easy swap. And they have a whole TF land over there.
I think they will add a flat ride to Toon Lagoon as a cheap update. It will be right on the water and one of those Pirate ship rides themed to Hagar the Horrible, Called Hagar's Sea Dragon. It will be an extrawide one and a cheap way to keep people in that section of the park, and have a way to dry off from the water rides. Plus as a ship based ride, it still fits in the theming too.
I love toon lagoon i hope its always there as an awesome throwback
1999: I really would be?
2021: I really won't be?
The one thing they won’t get rid of is marvel superhero island
The Lord of the Rings might be a perfect fit for Universal’s Epic Universe or as a replacement for the rest of The Lost Continent!
That theatre between Toon Lagoon and Marvel has lain empty for years! There must have been a plan at one time to turn it into something. It's just wasted park space!
I'd love to see Ghostbusters go in where Jimmy Fallon is. Fits the theming of the area too!
The Fear Factor theatre should become a HP show, with stunts and special effects like the Sinbad show (only updated). I think that would pack the crowds in!
Great channel btw. New sub 😁👏🏻
That's a really tough one for the MIB ride for many. Definitely a concern on keeping it up and running at the company bellied up and IP status.
Though the world expo could benefit with epic universal as kind of like a space like section. Get rid of fear factor in fast and furious, update the MIB ride with a better technology with a reliable engineering company, and squeeze one (or two) rides into the epic universal theme if assuming epic universal leans near a space sci-fi territory.
Turn the world expo into a galactic expo.
Knock down Poseidons fury, and make it the land of Zelda.
Or keep the most of the rock work
Ricky Galusha knock down the amazing adventures of spiderman ride and marvel land make it into sonic the hedgehog ride and sonic the hedgehog world
@@brennacollins6000 the spiderman ride is fun though, and people LOVE marvel.
@@brennacollins6000 ok thats just fucking stupid marvel is a complete money bank sonic is not even relevent anymore thars just a stupid idea
@@brennacollins6000 Nope, not a good idea.
Marvel is way more relavent and look at how low everything with Sonic is going lately(the movie has almost nothing on the MCU at it's best as well).
It doesnt make sense for IOA to get rid of the lost continent. It is so nice and well themed, and it is small, it just doesnt make sense. Maybe they could redo poseidons fury and make it more great or put like a coaster there or something
I would love it if they did that. Though I doubt they’ll put any money into an original IP attraction within the existing parks. And seeing as they already got rid of the other half of the Lost Continent, I don’t think the rest of the land is untouchable.
What I could see is them keeping the Lost Continent intact and just replacing Poseidon’s Fury and what’s left of Sinbad with a new ride based on Zelda or some other property that could fit in well in the land. That’s probably our best bet for keeping most of the land.
It's the same with Dueling Dragons, it would have worked with Harry Potter, even the lines and castle would have worked.
If both Fear Factor and MIB get the cut at the same time, what I'd like to see go there is a land based off of more modern horror movies, scary rides that act like a sort of year-round lite HHN experience, since not everyone can come around during that event. (I know Classic Monsters is coming to Epic Universe, but Classic and modern horror are 2 different beasts and it'd be awesome to have both experiences!)
I think Toon Lagoon will be fine since it’s meant to be the second half of the comic book section of the park (with the marvel land being the other half). I can’t imagine cutting out a gap and putting in a random IP between the two.
I sure hope so
pokemon world would be soooo dope and i dont even particularly like pokemon.... it would just be cool
Yeah, who wouldn’t want to see a Ninetails in real life.
Jurassic World: River Adventure™ Life Finds A Way Coming To Universal's Islands Of Adventure®
I miss the old Jurassic Park ride.
I never got to actually ride it, but I miss it either way
Chris Pratt as Owen Grady
Universal bought Dreamworks recently. I can see them leveraging that property for one of the locations you mentioned. Within that company you have Kung Fu Panda, Trolls, Captain underpants, Boss Baby, and How to Train your Dragon as franchises that they could use to add or replace parts of either Toon Lagoon or Kids Zone. Trolls is one I can see being placed in either.
You've also got Illumination properties (Minions) to consider. Yes they do have a moving sim over in the old Hanna-Barbera/Jimmy Neutron theater, but they could expand into into other areas fo the park or even move out from where they are.
What about Madagascar?
@@brianodonnell4496 madagascar kid zone would be pretty cool ngl
@@rssov How about Shrek?
@@brianodonnell4496 There is already a shrek ride elsewhere in the park. More work to redo that ride and bring shrek into kidzone. And since you're not introducing a new movie/IP into the park it's less exciting. Also, shrek is becoming very dated unfortunately so I don't see a shrek kidzone happening.
@@rssov Not to mention, Men in Black, Curious George, Scooby-Doo, etc?
It makes me sad because i have childhood memories of every land and its sad to know that some of these lands will have to be removed at some point
Not gonna lie, I feel Marvel Land might be on the block, and I’d be 100% ok with that
Hulk is a loved ride, but re-theming is possible
But it’s so dated, and only gives their competition money, why keep a bleeding IP when you can do something you own, and such
Honestly outside of updating the land to a modern Marvel comics theming like they did with Hulk and Spider Man, Marvel is still a big deal and it honestly keeps Disney from making attractions based on most of the characters due to the contract way before Disney acquired the Marvel IP.
Yes they still pay them in royalties, but at the same time people still flock to IoA for Marvel along with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, if they gave up the contract to Marvel than Universal would have a hard time finding a replacement since the deal with DC Universe fell through before being Marvel Superhero Island. It's a money maker for Universal, and keeps Disney being creative of what to add on since they can't use one of their biggest IPs in their parks, at least in Florida.
In short: It could use an update, but replacing the land would be a bad move since Universal has their competitor's biggest IP, it's better to keep it and see what they can update instead of closing it, as Marvel is still popular.
@@RvBnerd618 I think the issue is that lack of update. Hulk and Spider-man were updated but only to bring the tech to par, or to re-track the ride for a smoother experience. But the characters themselves aren't 'the modern comic' styles. Spider-Man especially, since that one is based off the 90's TV series still, the ride footage itself was just put in higher resolution base to fit the new high resolution screens/projectors.
But even then, I dont think they can update much more? Sure it keeps Disney from using those characters, but Universal can't seemingly use the updated versions of them anyway. prime examples would be walk around characters. X-Men are still based on their 90's styles, Captain America, etc.
The decor is also quite old around the land, and they could of updated that at any time, you dont need a complex construction period to change characters from classic to modern designs in the art all around the land. I just feel Universal could do more with other IP's. Its kinda like Toon Lagoon to me, the only difference is Marvel has more star/name power, but if someones looking at classic era Iron Man today, specifically a kid at that, I'd think they go "whos this?" at first.
That and I wanna see what Disney could do with it as well, DisneyLand's take is interesting, and I'd like to see them have a crack at DisneyWorld with those big names.
@@SebTH1Games Unfortunately, while it would be cool to see Disney do Marvel justice, what we're talking about is making Universal surrender something that gives them an edge in the theme park industry. This is still a business on both sides, and by voiding their contract will be leaving money on the table. I'm sure if Marvel goes to the way of the Simpsons in terms of popularity they can certainly look to other different storybook/comic IPs like Lord of the Rings and The Walking Dead, respectfully. As is tho, I'm sure they can do something as long as any changes are "reasonable", as mentioned in the contract. Modernizing the comic style of Marvel can certainly fall into that category, same with updating the queues to the modern cartoons. Sony would have no problem as technically they have the rights to Spiderman, so they can go for that and give the team member a new looking Spiderman costume.
So far they have done well and are trying to keep the land timeless, until then tho as long as Universal follows the contract, Disney by law has to honor it and won't be going anywhere anytime soon in Florida and Japan, due to USJ having Spiderman in their park.
Welp KidZone is going away now
So they bought land around the corner for the new park, you just park at City walk and bus over to it. Kinda like Volcano Bay. Also Woody woodpecker was rumored to be knocked down for nitendo land but then they just bought the property. Fun note too there is a waste plant rather close to the new property and universal paid them 30 million to keep the smell down.
I would love to see back to the future come back and replace some land by men in black but still keep the futuristic feel of both rides and toon lagoon is amazing and I would hate to see comic book lane be replaced!!!
