    The only land I’d ever accept to replace the Simpsons is Spongebob Land. Easy to retheme, change the Twirl n Hurl to a Jellyfish ride, throw away Woody Woodpecker and expand farther back to create a boat ride Tunnel of Glove, then a indoor rollercoaster themed to fit the first Spongebob Movie (with a drop into Rock Bottom).

    It’s like NBC/Universal has the rights to Nickelodeon properties and aren’t utilizing them to their full potential like I understand Jimmy Neutron is of more of an oldie but Spongebob is still going strong to this day, it’s Nickelodeon’s baby and Universal could really capitalize off of that in a land/ attraction form. It would do so well for the park and I mean with the longevity of Spongebob, it could become a mainstay at the parks and could allow us to experience Bikini Bottom in a way we never thought we could.

      @Jonathan Pal The closure of Nickelodeon Studios was Viacom's own decision to scale back the (mostly) live-action productions taking place there.
      There's nothing that indicates a direct rift between Universal and Viacom; as far as we know, it was a mutual decision between both parties.

    • @chromplex
      @chromplex 3 года назад +2

      @Jonathan Pal Thank you for the insight, genuinely. I... tend to speak a tad out of my ass when it comes to anything with Nickelodeon, since I didn't grow up watching much of the channel or consuming any of its related media.
      That said, your stance only seems to enforce the idea that Nick's "Orlando leave" was a mutual benefactor for both parties. Nick didn't have a need for two simultaneous studios, and the rent required for upkeep within an active theme park was likely catching up to Viacom.
      I'd hardly consider what went down between Universal and Viacom a violent break-up.
      Besides, the Nick brand still has a slight presence at the Florida Universal parks; Nicktoon Blast, adjacent to the former Nickelodeon Studios, operated for a further 6 years after active show production ended, there's the incorporation of SpongeBob/Dora characters within the Superstar Parade (although this may be subject to change because of COVID,) and of course SpongeBob StorePants.
      TL;DR, I don't buy into the mindset that Universal and Viacom are on bad terms, they're friendly enough for being media giants.

    One additional info that wasn’t mentioned here:
    The Simpsons is no longer that popular in the US, but it’s still immensely popular in other areas of the world (like Latin America). In countries like Argentina, they’ve become an integral part of the culture, and most people in their 30s and younger will know the dialogues and every episode by heart.
    Orlando receives mostly international tourists (Brazil and Argentina being two of the major tourist exporters), not just Americans. It’s worth mentioning that these international tourists (which represent millions of dollars) will keep flocking to the Simpsons area.

    I think you're underestimating how much Disney values the Simpsons. They've stuck to producing more seasons and have gotten new voice actors to replace some of the established ones due to the POC characters controversy, but this also shows that Disney is willing to update the show. And more importantly, I argue that the Simpsons is Disney+'s secret weapon. The Simpsons is almost always in the top 5 highest trending shows on D+, and much like how the Office and Friends were mega hits on Netflix, the Simpsons provides an easily bingeable, long running established sitcom that's become a mainstay on the service.

In the book, it was said that Universal and Disney do support each other when it comes to giving Orlando the name in offering the best theme entertainment in the world, albeit the parks are still one-upping the other in fair competition. The most value that The Simpsons are seen in Disney's wallet is the land at Universal and streaming; with that said, I can only see Disney allowing Universal to keep Simpsons for the royalties or open negotiations in keeping the licensing fees fair for Simpsons so that Disney can build an Avengers Campus, but allow Universal to keep Marvel Island as well. My dream replacement for The Simpsons is a Universal "ride the movies" Classics land. They can bring back BTTF, remove MIB and Fear Factor to create a backlot vibing land with Jaws, Earthquake, Beetlejuice, Kong (NYC), BTTF, Ghostbusters, Twister, Nickelodeon, Terminator; basically a fucking museum for a 90s era Universal. I mean, E.T. isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so Universal may as well blend it back to its early days.

So I could actually see Disney renewing the license just with maybe 50% in merchandise sales.
    Also as a side note: Disney,I know you don’t plan to make attractions based on Fox, but now that you own the alien franchise,but could you bring back alien encounter with the a xenomorph? I know that I'm not giving this a fair shot because I've never seen the show, but I find the animation style of The Simpsons extremely off-putting. Its manifestation in the park has always seemed extremely tacky and I don't think that the ride is particularly good (especially following Back to the Future). I'm sure that the show itself is good, but it just doesn't really seem to fit into the park at all.
    That being said, before you mentioned it, I knew that just the merchandise and food sales were probably a tremendous boon for the park. Walking around, people are always holding Duff Beer and Simpsons merch, so it quite obviously sells well. Another issue I have is with their quick-service though. Beyond the facades, it's clearly just the repurposed building of the International Food and Film Festival and it's just... not great looking. Sure, you have Moe's Tavern but beyond that is a generic cafeteria.
    I know a lot of people love it, but I wouldn't be upset to see any of it go. That's a lot of land that could be used for a fantastic attraction or two, which that park really, desperately needs.

    • @AttractionIdeas
      @AttractionIdeas  3 года назад +1

      Yeah those are fair points, though I will say I think the tackiness of the Simpsons actually adds to its charm. With so many self-deprecating jokes and not so subtle knocks against Disney, it just makes for a really nice change of pace from other rides that attempt to completely immerse you in a world and take themselves so seriously. Not that I have anything against those lands, but I do think having something that isn’t that just helps the park be even more well-rounded.

    Zelda will replace the lost continent and the zelda flying boat ride will replace posidens fury and now the lost continent will no longer be just a walk through land to get from suess landing to harry potter it's a shame how this is how they treat the most cool non ip land
    I think spongebob will be coming as a retheme for toon laggon because let's face it nobody even knows Dudley do right besides a little bit of people and popeye although still known is an old cartoon spongebob will be the perfect retheme so we can keep the water rides and get a new land it's a win win.
    Guys DC will not be added to universal because number 1 dc is marvel competer and number 2 that deal with WB animations is long overdue
    Pokemon will come in as a replacement to kidszone over at universal studios Florida with the new pokemon snap safari ride the secret life of pets ride will also be replaceing shrek 4d in my opinion
    For the replacement of world expo I say a new harry potter minstry ot magic ride to replace fear factor live and as for men in black I think this ride will be an expansion to the new monsterverse land
    I think a jurrasic park dark ride will replaceskull island regin of Kong as there is no need for it now that we have the monsterverse land over at universal studios Florida
    Fast and furious supercharged will be demolished for a new fast and furious car ride simalar to test track and radiator springs racers and the whole san Francisco area will be rethemed for the fast and furious land as well as a dark ride will be added themed around touring the garage so we will have 2 rides and 1 being a thrill
    Hollywood rip ride rockit will be getting updated songs as well as citywalk getting an update
    I also prefect a harry potter and Jurrasic world hotels being added
    The cat in the hat ride will be replaced cause it's a former shell of its self and will be replaced by a grinch coaster.
    However I do se them doing a retheme of that suess trolley train ride to cat in the hat as well as a new lorax themed boat ride
    Hulk will be updated with a choosing system like Hollywood rio ride rocket except you can choose if you want to litsen to the original 1999 hulk audio or the new 2016 hulk audio

So there will be 2 marvel lands, but at least Universal doesn't have to scramble for a new land. (especially when they are having Covid money problems and will find it very difficult to open both Epic Universal and Re-theme the entire land.) Disney can easily do this.

While yes the simpsons are showing their age they are still relevant and fit much better in universal over Disney. I think they could negotiate a trade of sorts where universal keeps simpsons and Disney still gets a percentage of the merch or something. Universal def needs to give up Marvel to Disney. The marvel section in universal besides the hulk and Spider-Man ride looks like a glorified six flags it’s kinda sad. It’s time to go and revamp that section with something new. Fairly sure Disney needs to allow Universal to at least make a renovation and possibly additions to Marvel Comic Strip because if not Universal could make an uncooperative or anti-trust lawsuit. Well according to experts the marvel land in universal is the comic version but the one at Disney is basically the more modern MCU so it’s false that they would remove marvel land cause Disney doesn’t own the comic versions of Marvel but owns the Live action movies and modern tv shows but not the comics so again, marvel land would not get replace nor Simpsons cause Disney wouldn’t remove it from universal but for marvel is totally different compared to the ones Disney has.

    I personally don't think Disney doesn't care about the Simpsons, I think the opposite is happening actually, Disney may focus on family-friendly brands but they do invest in more adult-oriented brands sometimes, for example, they have an entire are in Hollywood studios themed to ABC which has more teen and adult shows than children's shows, along with that even Marvel is usually for a teen audience and so is Star Wars all tho that doesn't really matter since parents will take their kids to watch it anyway, even Disney themselves are releasing more teen-oriented things with their pg13 live-action remakes like Mulan and the upcoming Cruella. The main reason I think they do care about the Simpsons is because of Disney Plus, The Simpsons have been a giant part of their advertising for Disney plus and every time that you use the service at the top where they advertise the brand new shows they always have the Simpsons, this shows that they recognize the Simpsons as a profitable brand and they can gain a separate audience that doesn't like movies and shows targeted to a younger audience, the Simpsons is one of their most viewed properties in Disney+. Im guessing they could probably make a deal if the Simpsons show its profit so they would probably make it into a ride and maybe a restaurant to go along with it in Hollywood Studios.

Look Simpsons are a show that has fell from grace and I'm not sure if the show will even be that well known in 2028 or beyond. Marvel has been proven to be popular for a long time as long as Disney keeps making movies and Disney + series for the IP. Also Disney making more Marvel stuff is just helping Marvel be more popular and its helping Universal because they have the Marvel land so it will help Universal get more merch sales. We were just there, and honestly, it needs some TLC. The area is fun to walk around in but has seen some better days. I feel this is an issue all over Universal everything just has this run-down kind of feeling to it. I would say 90% of Universal needs updating or at least a fresh code of paint. Nothing worse than going on a ride, and none of the animatronics are working, and the graphics are 20 years old and extremely dated. What's even worse is the new rides just suck looking at you Fast and the Furious, and can we get something better than Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon? I just don't care for the ride at all. Comcast, in my opinion, has done a terrible job upkeeping and modernizing the parks. I think Universal should pick up the DC rights and sell off the Marvel rights back to Disney. I bet Disney would pay a hefty sum and trade some IP theme park rights for Marvel. I personally think it would be cool to walk through Gotham City with a Joker, Batman, Superman, and Wonderwoman themed rides.
