It does no matter if the movie of MIB is not popular any more. The concept of an impressive dark ride that allows for guest to attack aliens has enough draw outside of the IP
But that’s exactly the point. Universal can keep the idea of a dark ride where you attack aliens, but change up the IP, add some new things, and the ride appeals to a whole new audience and becomes popular again.
Toon lagoon should stay as is, especially ripsaw falls, even when the park opened these characters were out of date by a lot, I believe it was intentional to add comic strips from past times to give a feel of nostalgia and history with a little fun.
I wish Universal showed love to The Cat In The Hat, as it’s a solid ride that was intense and yet also kid friendly, making a really diverse ride. Sucks Universal doesn’t care for it right now
Creative needs to give guests a reason to love these characters. They're not part of any story in the park. They just adorn the buildings. How much popularity of a crudely drawn figure is due to bandwagon effect and not its own design cons and pros. It's why mediocre or lousy songs or bands (are there any bands anymore?) are popular: Cuz a person's friends like it and one has no music sense of one's own but follows what he/she sees peers follow.
Actually, when I was five years old, I always wanted to go on Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast, but it closed before I even got a chance to get on it. It looked like a fun ride though.
It was. I wish I visited the Studios when Hanna-Barbera was around, but I hold Nicktoon Blast with high nostalgic value. Even got a Goddard plush from the gift shop after my first go on the ride lol
My first memory of going to Universal was going on Jimmy Neutron it was fun from what I remember ( I was probably five when I went the first time) and it sucks that it and any connection to Nickelodeon is pretty much gone.

I don't think this narrative that Universal is itching to pull the trigger at around 20 years is necessarily correct. Universal closes rides because get old and inoperable. Then they get replaced because the cost of their operation is not worth the traction and money is brings back in. The rides that are past the "expiration date" are still there because they are working fine enough and have enough popularity. They even made a 1:1 reconstruction of Hulk because people like it so much, even though the old track needed to be taken down. They are also forced to replace because they don't have the room to keep expanding. If they had the space Disney does, I'm sure they wouldn't be permanently replacing quite so many attractions and instead just add more.
Brother, most of what this guy says is opinion based that he tries to push off as fact, or just him being straight wrong. He stated in his last video that regional parks took after Uni and Disney and added 3D rides to their parks once Avatar (2009) proved to be a success, and referenced the SpongeBob Ride (2004) and Fly me to the moon (2008) as proof….

I rode spider man for the first time a few weeks ago, I had no idea what it was or what the experience was like, I was completely shocked and blown away by how much fun it was. I didn't know the video was integrated that well, I didn't know the effects were that well done, and I didn't know the movement of the cart was so punchy and fast. one of the best rides I've ever been on.
Yeah for a ride that came out in like 1999 it has held up really well. I'd argue that Spiderman and the mummy are still better than the harry potter dark rides, and I'm a big harry potter fan.
Disney might actually be OK extending the rights for the Simpsons. They likely get a cut of the merch sales and benefit from the cross promotion of the IP in a theme park without having to actually build and maintain a theme park land for it themselves. The only real problem with Springfield is the ride itself. I know they replaced the mechanical systems when they converted it from BTTF but those older type motion simulators are brutal. When the motion of the ride vehicle doesn't mesh well with the motion on the screen people get sick in a hurry.
For real. I NEVER get nauseous on rides no matter how intense or how much they spin. But last time I rode the simpson's motion simulator, for the first time in my life I had to close my eyes cuz I felt like I was gonna hurl. That ride is terrrrible.
I feel like even though it’s basically the icon second to Harry Potter they should just drop Simpson land, Disney is only gonna get more aggressive on that front once they’re backed into a corner
Is the simpsons really that iconic? I think the idea of replacing it with pokemon would be a huge success. Pokemon is probably just as big to asian audiences as harry potter is to the west.
Universal Studios Orlando needs, tbh, a lot of work once Universal is done with Epic Universe. I'm gonna be real here: I think Universal should re-theme Toon Lagoon. Besides Popeye, most people don't even know who those characters are any more but the rides in there are pretty good though. I think a re-theme is what's needed
Because islands of adventure got the velocicoaster which is still relatively new and well liked, I would say whatever they plan to take out next should at least be in universal studios

@@ghostshrimp5006I mean, not like they have to, they could go the route where they use new parts made from scratch to redo the ride system or a different theme park manufacturer to entirely refurbish it. But considering the impending deal ending by 2028, unfortunately I don’t think Universal will go through the efforts to renew the contract AND also redo the ride along with it, it would end up being pretty costly. I hate to say it because I love riding it when I go to universal studios Hollywood, but Simpsons very likely is out of here within the next 5 years.
I love MIB and Springfield too please leave those and JP and ET everything else can go just not those 🙏🙏🙏 leave atleast a few classics that made Universal what it is today
This might be an unpopular opinion, but Jurassic park was originally the main property at the Universal parks when it was added to IOA, and is arguably still in second place over two decades later. With them having their major seller (Harry Potter) be in all 3 parks I don't see why they don't give the same treatment to the Jurassic franchise. With room next to Epic Universe for a 4th park putting JP at that park and doing a complete overhaul at IOA and turning the current JP and JW mix land into a solo JW land seems like a great idea to me.
I doubt that's a good idea. JP merch sells more than JW stuff to this day. Always see people buy the JP stuff in the gift shop over the JW themed items. I think it would be better to turn the river adventure ride into a jeep ride reenacting the scene where the T-Rex is chasing it. The animatronics would last longer and would require less maintenance too due to no longer being in the water 24/7.
Jurassic World is not as timeless a vibe as Jurassic Park. Merch sales and the longevity of the love for the originals prove that. JW is already a fading star. Adding velocicoaster was fine, great ride, but the atmosphere of JW does not translate well for the entire land ie. Restaurants and gift shops and making people want to stay and hang out. They were quite depressing movies compared to JP.

Honestly, i think Supercharged is on its way out once the coaster opens in Hollywood. If i had to guess the plan, the existing ride gets a retheme and new entrance making it a Knight Bus ride for Diagon Alley, and we get either an F&F show where Fear Factor was or a coaster in and expansion of that plot of land
The idea of another bus ride through huge screens ride sounds so unexciting even if it is the night bus… they need to replace the whole thing from the ground up
I went to Universal Orlando recently and Rip Ride Rockit was rough. I don't think the coaster is popular enough to justify rebuilding it. I didn't know that the Hulk was known for being a head banger.
The hulk just had the track redone a few years back. And rip ride is little rough but it is popular it’s the only big coaster at studios and trust me that park needs to keep that for now 😂😂😂😂
I just rode E.T. for the first time in yearssss and it was actually very endearing that there is still one thing left at the park from my childhood. Is it dated? Sure, but it was one of my favorite experiences of the day 😊

ET needs HUMONGOUS changes and upgrades if it was to stay open. It already closed years ago in Hollywood and Japan. It’s time to go if they don’t plan a massive overhaul in show quality. But the one horrible attraction that needs to go is Fast and Furious. It’s garbage adapted from the tram ride in Hollywood, where it got poor reviews, yet they still replicated it in Florida.
I'd rather see the jimmy fallon one got out first. honestly, having a talk show host doing some sort of race around new york is a really lame idea, and it's a lot of wasted space just for a few rows of stationary motion-simulation seats and a big screen.
Over here in Hollywood I think the retheme of Jurassic Park to Jurassic World has made a considerable difference. JP had about 15-20 minute wait in average days while JW has 30-60 minute waits on average. It’s reputation has also exceeded JP it’s become a fan favorite again since the update.

A relative of mine works at Cat in The Hat. She has confirmed to me that the ride is in HORRIBLE shape. Every time there’s a hurricane there’s always a worry that it won’t survive like a few years ago when there was a big hole in the ceiling
Coming back to this video following the news that rip ride rockit is set to be removed. 1 correct prediction down! (jimmy fallon is still safe, for now, but apparently the permits for one of the buildings they want to construct extend into its queue area so 👀)
MIB is an amazing ride regardless of IP relevance and the minions equivalent is a joke, a joyless and effort lacking screen based ride just like fast & furious and Kong. They really should keep MIB
i just rode it the first time a few days ago on vacation, and I thought it was a very fun ride. the aspects of it being a game where you compete, and actually having the ability to send another car spinning makes it really fun by adding variety to every ride-through. I'd be okay with a refurbishment or a retheme, but I'd hate to see that ride go entirely.
If they do refurbish rip ride, I could see it having new tracks be added. The music aspect to it is neat but the vibes are blatantly 2000’s. So an update to the Theme would be neat.
For animal actors specifically, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Universal actually uses the show to train animals that are later used in film. It might not serve the park well, but maybe there's some other use for them keeping it around for so long?
I've been saying Pokemon would be perfect for a theme park land. You could do a photo safari with animatronics for the main attraction.l, something slow and appealing to all ages. You could do so many producttie-inss based on pokemon iconography, like pokemon plushies in plastic balls, potion sodas, repel colognes, and more available at the pokemart. Restaurants would probably draw from several games and regions for food ideas, and i think they should implement the nfc technology like they did with Mario to make the park more interactive. Sorry to drag on, but I've just been thinking about this for a WHILE, and im sure you can add to the pile of great tie-ins yourself.
I'm honestly still salty that Poseidon's Fury closed but Fast and Furious is still open. Yeah PF was cheesy and old school, but it was a fun experience!
I would be fine if they turned that whole area into a Chamber of Secrets walkthrough similar to how the P. Fury was where at the end we watch Harry battle the snake, and the entrance is how you go through the Girl's Bathroom
every time I go to universal its like I stepped back into the past way like when my parents were born and its such an amazing feeling, im gonna miss it once they remove a lot of these rides but yk its also cool to see new stuff too so
I disagree about the marvel section closing down if Disney continues to kill it. The whole land is about super hero nostalgia. It’s themes directly into early 90’s and the worse modern super hero’s get, the more people will want to remember the good times.

Thank god, you know, i’ve seen some absolutely crazy takes on this subject that have Universal knocking half the damn parks down before decades end. Their thought process is just boiled down to “Old IP bad, replace now” with zero regard for like- anything else? Like how popular or well liked the rides are, what niche in terms of attraction they fill, how long they would take to replace, how much capacity would be lost with a closure, and if it even makes sense in the context of the space and park they occupy. This is the first one of these type of videos where i was basically nodding along the whole time. Your reasoning for each prediction made sense and felt realistic for the kinds of patterns we’ve seen thus far. Great work👍
I really just don’t want them to shut down Dudley Do Right. It’s one of my favorite rides of all time. Easily one of the funniest and well themed water rides, so regardless of its age, I hope it never shuts down.
They really need another thrill ride in the universal studios park, especially if Rip Ride gets ripped out. With the massive success of their last two big coasters in Islands, and the obvious focus on them in epic universe, I feel like they will bring a large themed coaster to the park and I’m liking the area you suggest near Men in Black. Now what will it be themed to…. 🤔
You're missing one important fact, one of the major factors in the demise of pervious attracting was because they were land locked, so in order to bring in anything new they had to get rid of an aging attraction. I think we will see less of this in the coming years now they have a lot more land to play with considering, especially, the new land aquired just recently that adds greatly to the size of epic.
Seriously the Barney attraction stook around way longer than it deserve. Because despite the show cancelling back 2010 the park's attraction stayed up and running for more than a decade after that. And no kid today watches barney!

I will never ever ever go back to Universal Orlando if they decide to get rid of Seuss Landing. Dr Seuss is my universal. Edit: Too bad Attraction Ideas, it doesn’t sound like it is going. Fast and Furious and Kong Skull Island are both twice as outdated as the cat in the hat. You're totally spot on about the popeye raft ride. Our family went to orlando for the first time this year. And the kids loved it so much....they also loved the jurrasic park river adventure despite the flaws in the animatronics. We went to animal kingdom as well and went on that raft ride and it didnt even compare.
I believe that when Epic Universe opens, all theme parks (including Disney) will see a boost in attendance. But after Epic Universe has been open for 2-4 years, families will most visit the 4 Disney parks, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe because of limited vacation days. Because Universal Studios is so subpar compared to these other parks, Universal will then approve a huge overhaul of Universal Studios. This will put on hold the rumored Zelda land replacing The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure and will most likely have multiple massive changes. This could include The Simsons turned into Pokémon, F&F Supercharged, Jimmy Fallon, and MIB. While just speculation, HW RipRide Rocket is probably about due for a retrack, so they might replace it as well. Anyway, if any of this actually happens, it won't be for 10-15 years from now until finished.
Transformers is safe and I’m so happy because of that, I’m a big transformers enthusiast and collector, and I’m so happy that transformers still has like 10 years to go minimum.
River Adventure is awesome, despite it's age. I'd be pretty disappointed if they replaced with a similar Jurassic World themed ride, especially because I'm not a fan of those movies. @@optimusprime777slap I didn't say it wasn't, but it's based on a 3rd party IP that hasn't been popular or relevant for a long ass time, and the ride is getting in worse condition. @@RednekGamurz I mean everyone still knows men in black. It's an ip that's timeless. I disagree that it's condition is getting worse because they recently refurbished a bunch of stuff like the guns and most of the animatronics from what I've heard. I agree that it may be very difficult to get replacement parts but still, it's gone this far and stayed popular for this long so I don't see any reason for it to close for a very long time.
The funny thing with F&F: Supercharged is that it's gonna be closed temporarily sometime in August and remain closed throughout HHN. But, there's also rumors floating around that it may close down permanently. So will it reopen once HHN is over? Who knows.
I can’t see universal removing MIB for some time, it’s often a walk on because it can move a large volume of riders, and it’s still a very fun, engaging ride for all ages. Removing all those physical props would be a massive expense too. If anything’s on the chopping block, it’s unpopular screen only rides like like fast and furious and simpsons
But how come attractions themed to Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Terminator, Jaws, Beetlejuice, Hanna Barbera and King Kong closed when those franchises still have a significance to popular culture? Couldn’t Universal kept those attractions similar to E.T. situation? I understand Fear Factor Live, Earthquake, and Alfred Hitchcock going. Those removals I support.
What they could do with E.T is turn it into part 3D/ 4D and keep a lot of the original elements to it, they brought Kong back, so there's no reason to get rid of such a beloved ride, just modernize it a bit Honestly, they should turn the Fast and the Furious into Back To The Future in that style also
I went to Universal Studios in August 2022 and River Adventure was being partially refurbished at the time. Many of the animatronics were gone (all the raptor ones and obviously the T-Rex was still there). The ride still operated despite this. The narrator would just talk about the dinosaurs that weren't there. They were just empty platforms. It made the ride slightly more disappointing, but it's also nice to know that they did it to help its longevity.
Also, I do not know what they are going to do with that former Blue Man Group/Nickelodeon Studios stage. There were some rumors where Nickelodeon could take back that space and revive it, but I do not know about that.
If those rumors were actually true, I’d want one of those things they’d build in relation to it to reference the show, it’s pony. People who saw that show will understand. _Although,_ the fact remains that Nickelodeon universe exists, elsewhere in the US.

I would love for Toon Lagoon to be rethemed to SpongeBob like a Bikini Bottom theme with the rapids being Mrs Puff themed and the log ride being the gang going after Plankton and being launched to the surface for the drop then back in the city , the IP has been there for 20 years for only a meet and greet and a shop. He deserves so much more
Bikini bottom makes sense, the issue I see is that there are sooo many SpongeBob attractions around the world. There is no telling what the conditions of those contracts allow or don't allow. Speaking of Ms. Puff, I suggested elsewhere of doing a boat ride that goes out into the lagoon. Imagine guests and little kids taking control of a motorized little boat and going through a well-themed course that goes out into the lagoon.
Not when the executives decided that they’re not going to pay the licensing for anything that isn’t Harry Potter nor transformers for the rides that they _do_ have. If it was the case otherwise, to me in my opinion, toon lagoon should be rethemed to applicable shows from Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon, two of them being regular show and it’s pony.
The men in black ride is definitely one of my favorite rides there. Maybe the IP isn’t popular anymore but the ride is fun, it’s the buzz lightyear ride from Magic Kingdom but cranked up
I feel a bikini bittom revamp of the section with the toon lagoon attractions would do great and take the shops area and complete change that into something else and tearing out of the toon theatre for a new mini land aswelll so 3 mini lands out of toon lagoon

Would honestly hate to see Pokemon. There is enough Nintendo as it is. I'd rather see one of two video games properties come to the park that would make more sense: Spyro - I think people forget that Spyro is originally a Universal character, and he would fit right in where Simpsons is, or heck, even Lost Continent would be an easy transition for him. Sonic - I mean why not? He is just as popular as Mario, arguably more popular than Pokemon currently with the movies being successful, and being a fast character, it makes sense to have a ride based around him. Recently, I've started thinking Toon Lagoon could maybe get a retheme to SpongeBob. Universal obviously doesn't own him, but the characters do show up in parades so they have some sort of license already. The fact that the land is already centered around water rides makes it perfect. Keep the rides the same, just retheme them. Change the Cathy ice cream stand to Goofy Goober, for instance, and add an actual Krusty Krab counter service restaurant.
I don't agree that Universal automatically wants to replace an attraction at the 20-25 year mark. The company has really evolved and now they have raised their standards for lands and attractions. First in 2010 they revolutionized the future of themed areas with The Wizarding World, then they raised the bar for rides with Hagrid's and Velocicoaster. I think they are actively trying to raise the rest of the areas of the parks to the new standards, and this will be a gradual process until all of the rides and areas are up to par. Naturally they will strategize to keep people coming back and to introduce popular IPs at the same time. I love the work they have been doing and I cannot wait to see what they build!
Amazing video man!

I went on that ride as a kid and got scared and they had to let me off early 😭

When the motion of the ride vehicle doesn't mesh well with the motion on the screen people get sick in a hurry.
it also needs a hd refurbishment. the colors are fading
Im honestly praying Disney takes the rights back, a Pokemon ride sounds MUCH cooler

The equipment needed to make that ride is no longer possible, the person who made that ride left a long time ago, all they can do is replace it
@@ghostshrimp5006I mean, not like they have to, they could go the route where they use new parts made from scratch to redo the ride system or a different theme park manufacturer to entirely refurbish it.
So FIRE! MIB Forever!!

@happymaskedguy1943 ok hear me out Ghostbusters obviously has a older audience, so what if they replaced Rip Ride Rockit with an intense Ghostbusters themed coaster, and let the little kids have Pets it would be a win win scenario

The past few times I’ve gone to Universal, I’ve ridden the Hulk MANY times in a row, but got a massive headache after only riding Rip Ride Rockit ONCE. I think over the past year and a half or so it’s really surpassed the Hulk in roughness. Idk maybe I’m just used to that B&M rattle that the Hulk has but not the specific rattle that RRR has. I personally think it’s RRR’s time to go soon, especially since I doubt Maurer makes parts for cheap since it’s practically one of a kind for their company
Would honestly hate to see Pokemon. There is enough Nintendo as it is. I'd rather see one of two video games properties come to the park that would make more sense:
Spyro - I think people forget that Spyro is originally a Universal character, and he would fit right in where Simpsons is, or heck, even Lost Continent would be an easy transition for him.
Sonic - I mean why not? He is just as popular as Mario, arguably more popular than Pokemon currently with the movies being successful, and being a fast character, it makes sense to have a ride based around him. Plus, Sega and Nintendo work together a lot, so why not? Why pigeonhole yourself to just Nintendo?

Sonic and Spyro would be awesome to see. Heck even Crash Bandicoot would be cool, too.

i have to disagree on the MIB take while this could just be my bias i genuinely don't think its going anywhere to my knowledge it still gets consistent 20-30 minute wait times, is pretty beloved by the GP and i havent heard any public statements of distaste on the attraction by officials like what happened with rip ride rockit
The fact that SpongeBob is still very well known and still making new movies and episodes for it, I don’t see why not.
@@artagle_14that should go to epic universe, keep toon lagoon a classic. Epic would fit better cause its new and is about universes
I hope they don't ever get rid of the Spiderman ride! Love it so much, great video btw!
Mystic River Falls at Silver Dollar City is an S tier raft ride
Good Job. Just subscribed.

“This is not a prediction. This is a spoiler.” I see you fellow Paul Heyman guy.
Amazing video man! Never been to the Florida theme parks, I’m from California, that being said, I really appreciate your takes on all this because Ron planning a trip down over there for epic universe and all the current universal parks as well. One thing if I might add just for sakes of debate, personally I think they will 100 percent keep Jurassic river ride but do like what they did here in California. I’m a current annual pass holder for the park over here, my kids love it and wife does too, both park and the new rendition of the Jurassic park ride. If they do that to your guys side of town, it would draw so many people just due to the fact that each time I go there is a massive wait time for it. It is the same ride but believe me when I say the differences are very ntociable and enjoyable. Cheers! Hope to see more content like this.
