    Make sure to stick around until the end to see direct references and remnants of the show still in the park today!

      This seem like an interesting show, but I can expect similar circus-like shows for Walt Disney World similar to Festival of the Lion King but with some circus theming and elements like an Aladdin themed show or a “Wild Jungle Circus Spectacular” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

    That Amphitheater is wasted prime real estate. Toon lagoon itself IMO needs to be redone with a better I.P. especially because epic universal looks like it's going to be awesome

    There was another show around early 2004 outside the amphitheater. It was called Toon Lagoon Toon Party and was just a performance of Funny Business, then character meet and greet, then ending with a reprise of Funny Business. I should upload that sometime.

    I’m so glad to hear that the full show has finally been found! Cartoon Circus (and much of Toon Lagoon as a whole) has always peaked my interest so I’m ecstatic to see that this forgotten part of Universal History has finally resurfaced with plenty of recent interest of it over the past few months.

    I actually remember this show very well. During 1999, I was lucky enough to visit Islands of Adventure during team member previews. It was one of the few things I was old/tall enough to experience at the time. Very enjoyable to see character being used in such a large capacity compared to offerings today at Universal. Thanks for the fun trip down memory lane!

      @@StorybookAmusement Wow, thank you! I actually feel quite honored to have seen it after leaning about the show's history from your video. I just always assumed it lasted at least a year before closing haha. The opening number and Betty Boop segments are what sticks in my mind the most. Especially when the characters "popped" out of the artwork in the beginning. I remember thinking that was a cool trick as a little kid. I'll have to show your video to my family to see if they remember the show as well.

      Let me know what they have to say! It’s hard to come by people who saw the show and get a sense for what it was like to be there.

    I don't know if I'm correct or wrong, but the short lived show's soundtrack was composed by J Eric Schmidt who's known for composing the music for Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas for Disney and especially the Sylvester & Tweety mysteries at WB!!!

    • @StorybookAmusement
      @StorybookAmusement  11 месяцев назад

      I believe Andrew Lippa is credited as the composer. There are a few sources (a few newspaper articles and the IOA soundtrack itself) that point back to him.

    Great vid and summary history timeline of the first and subsequent shows. I bought a 2005 IOA park map that has a full page ad on back of Tony Hawk's Baddest Ever Skate, BMX, & Moto Event. It was two shows for two days. Somehow it popped up in my eBay suggestion after buying old full size booklets of 1970 and 1972 Universal Studios Tour and shows (prior to it being a theme park with a tram tour, it was tram tour with a show and picnic area).
    PS: might be a graphic typo, but Dudley Do Right ride is not pictured or listed??

      Universal tried making WW their Mickey Mouse back in the '90s and 2000s. It doesn't seem like they push him much anymore, but they definitely shoehorned him in a lot of productions and ads back then 😅
