NEVER EVER E V E R!!! Turn the knife edge bushings while under string tension! I've seen so many signs of this happening while guitars are set up over seas. It can be fixed by resharpening the knife edges with a file, but the bushings will be forever grooved and unevenly come back to pitch. You will have to replace them. Outside of that this is an extremely good instructional set up video. Good job guys.
Agree. That's the WORST thing you can do with your floating bridge, even with a FRO. I prefer to release all strings tension and put the springs off from the sustain block of the bridge, then I'll be able to remove the bridge from it's cavity (or simply get it away a little from the posts), after that I set the posts where I want, finally I reinstall the bridge and check if everything is in order. This is safer than adjust it under tension, it's more complicated, but you won't have to replace the posts or even the whole bridge (or the plate).
I got my EBMMJP BFR and I was cursing because how limited my knowledge about Wilkinson Trem System. Glad to find this video. It's straightforward and very helpful.
Very Good, Informative video. I really needed this info and I do appreciate the lack of heavy metal background music and/or the half assed attempt at standup comedy. Thanks.
Tip: Block your trem (sticky notes between plate/body, trem stop...anything to get your "zero" point.) Then, tune and intonate. "Disengage" block. Re-tune by using the CLAW SCREWS. ;-) Everything is relative to the zero point, so once you get any of the strings back to its pitch, the others will be very close. Tune a bit more and you're done. You just took out the otherwise horrible process of claw/tune/claw/tune/etc.
I've heard of adjusting post height, saddle height, and intonation in different orders- but I am yet to know if there is a standard order that always works. Definitely hard to watch the posts being turned while the strings and springs are on, that's a lot of metal on metal gnashing. I figure if you can get the plate parallel with the body using a rubber block or thin neoprene strips (I've seen sticky notes used), you could keep the two outer strings strung and remove the springs to reduce the force digging into the posts, and also adjust neck relief with the truss that way, and after the plate height and truss are set, add the strings to adjust the intonation, then saddle height.
I recently got a Reverend Double Agent with a Wilkinson bridge (brilliant guitar btw), I contacted Reverend as I'm new to the Wilkinson bridge and wanted to lower the action, they told me not to touch the Allen bolts on the bridge and just crank the truss rod clockwise to adjust the action. Is that incorrect advice then? Did I just get the newbie at Reverend? Also, if I do use the bridge Allen bolts do I also need to tighten the strings a bit?
What are called the screws to raise the bridge i ordered the VS-100 but what is already installed are VS-50 and the screws are too long and i cant seem to find the name so i can order the right ones
I'm confused on the trust rod adjustment, you guys are explaining it differently in this video and the Floyd rose video I always refer to the Floyd rose video because I hav a guitar with Floyd and need proper detailed instructions. please respond thank you
Floyd Rose is an entire different puppy requiring different processes. Those things stay in tune forever though regardless how much you bend the strings.
My tremolo is touching the body :( Ok Now it it's like, one side is too high and the springs in the back are like very different one from the other and even doing this the bridge don't sits equal on the both sides Got it, working great now, thanks!
@Musica Fidelitas Bullshit. I play my guitar at least 2 hours a day, and haven't changed my strings in over 6 months. Zero issues. I think you're compensating for your own poor setup.
I don’t think the beginner will complete this tutorial due to the floating bridge. They differently cant get this thing in tune unless its not floating bridge
If you have to change strings that often, your corrosive sweat is likely a serious medical condition that will eventually lead to death. But other than that informative video, thank you.
Nope. A Phillips wil strip the head when used with a little force. A JIS screwdriver will work better on a Pozidrive but as always: Use the tool required and not what "works".
I just cannot stand or even understand what this "narrator" kid is whispering to himself about. Did he say "9th" fret for the actions check? Get a Man or Woman that can ENUNCIATE in understandable English for your videos Framus. Yeah, my volume WAS up too. Whatever...Never mind.
Big thank you! 10 years later and you're still helping people out! Finally managed to get down my guitars action to a comfortable level

This needs more likes
Thank you that’s a big thing

Top video , thanks
Thank you man, I had a Wilkinson tremolo and these tips helped me greatly
This is a very helpful video. It guided me through the adjustment of a Wilk tremolo . Something I was clueless about. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video. I don't have the exact same Wilkinson tremolo, but it's close enough. It really helped me out!
3:03, and with your third hand...
Lol, I'm fuckin' dyin' here man
I was like..... excuse me
That got right by me lol
@@mark-dietz Slap a capo on the first fret and that solves everything
Can’t stop laughing xD

Thanks for the demo, big help👍

Excellent video , even for players that only have two hands
That's a cool idea using rubber tubing around the guitar springs to deaden the noise from any vibrations 2:40
thanks for these video, I was a bit confused about the order of these steps. Mostly with the action - thrussrod thingy
This is incredibly helpful!
Excellent video it really helped me out :) Thanks

wow beautiful fretboard and fretwork
beautiful guitar!!!!
This video is so useful!!!
Very well explained
Great video

Amazing video! Very clear! I was able to adjust everything by my self. :-) except the 3.03min, kkkk. Maybe I use a capo!!!
Can you plz make a vedio where you show how to block this same system....where bridge is flushed to body and not floating......
Thanks!
Спасибо!

What model Framus is this? Does it come in 24 frets? I love it!
Suppose it is diablo supreme x
Wo bekomme ich so einen Hals Schlüssel her ...super!
My tremolo is touching the body :(
Ok

The Wilkinson wvs pin they don't line up to Strat pickups so U will end up with the whole twice as big
Will a trem like this fit nicely in a guitar that's routed for a Floyd?
It ain’t easy Bein’ white no
... no
Wrapping the string on the tuning post is not necessary if u have locking tuners
I don't know how to remove the tremolo arm on a Wilkinson tremolo.
what is the model # of the trem?
how is this a wilkinson tremolo?
If you are changing your guitar strings once or twice a month maybe you should be washing your hands and wiping your neck down instead?
lmfao!!!
seriously......
This guy has 3 hands!
Did this dude just say change your string's once or twice a month? I guess he think's we all tour and play in bands lol
i havent changed the strings on my bass for almost 10 years..
They retail their guitars for like $4000, so apparently we're all getting paid like Slash and Axl Rose too for our bar gigs.

This is a Framus Trem, not a wilkinson.
I needed a wilkinson. Not a Framus.
No, it's a Wilkinson trem on a Framus guitar. OPen our fuckin' eyes!
cmon... like if bridges were rocket science, most of them are the same in terms of these adjustments !
If you have to change strings that often, your corrosive sweat is likely a serious medical condition that will eventually lead to death. But other than that informative video, thank you.
2:36 thats Pozidriv Screws, so a Pozidriv Screwdriver is needed. but a Phillips will do the job anyway.
Nope. A Phillips wil strip the head when used with a little force.
A JIS screwdriver will work better on a Pozidrive but as always: Use the tool required and not what "works".
Once or twice a month? LOL right!
HAHA i play at least 2 hours a day and I barely change every 4 months
wow....change your strings once or twice a month ....hilarious!😂
Your screw is NOT suitable for this bridge at the bottom. Try to change it.
And tightening of the strings is NOT right way,
