“Daisy, I said you could go for a drink of water, not a trip up the Nile.” Iconic words from Mrs. Patmore.

Mrs Patmore must definitely have had some ( pretty good)Education at the primary in the Victorian era prior to become a cook as she knew the Nile is a river and it was far away. 👍 😁
I bet not many of her contemporary servant fellows would have caught what she meant to say....anyway 🧐( I wonder how many of us would know where the Nile is🤔)

That moment when you were in the attic and shown the engraving of the person's name really reminded me of the quote... "They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time.” chilling, but wonderful.

    • @livingthegoodlifechannel

Oh my goodness. For some reason, that quote really hit me. It's probably because I don't have children so my line through time stops with me. After my nieces pass away, that's probably the last time that my name will be mentioned. God knows best so I will trust in his plan for me.

The concept of having someone mention your name after you die hasn’t occurred to me. It’s certainly strange. But as you say it’s all in God’s plan. And I take comfort in the billions that have gone before us who were here once and names never repeated.

Please don't be shocked, and don't laugh either. But when I was at boarding school in the UK, we had washstands by our beds, with white enamel bowls, large jugs, and enamel lidded pails underneath. Each floor had a (bigger) arrangement, similar to those in your chateau, with taps and stone sink, from which each morning we collected hot water in our jugs for washing, and then took the slop pails back, to empty them!! None of us, at the time, thought it was at all strange! It was a very nice school and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I feel quite nostalgic seeing the rooms in your chateau. What you think is antique, would possibly have been in use, till not that long ago.

Delightful and interesting tour, Michael, and presented with your refreshing directness and honesty.
You also have more in common with 'Downton Abbey' than you may realise...Highclere Castle (I live next door) ALSO has leather figured wall coverings in the entrance hall! ANYTHING you can do to restore/retain the scraps thst you have left from your own property would be a very worthwhile enterprise.

Monetize with ads like Stephanie. Those who don't like click through and the rest of us click like and endure the ads to give revenue. All Stephanie had to do was mention how it works once and anyone who saw that now goes along with it happily to support.

Funny you mention this. Since Stephanie explained how it works, I've just muted the adverts and let them play through while attending to other things so she can earn a little from them. Seeing my wife and I have watched her entire series twice, and some of her episodes multiple times, I'd like to think we are helping.

Little bit of trivia, it Victorian times in some caves with Stalactites ( the ones that go down ) they used to put molds Under them and they would fill up with lime scale and after a while they would demold, cameos and objects that they would mount and sell. You can still find small 'scenes' and cameos made like this ,,,, getting away from the point, ANOTHER great video Michael thank you .

Even though you are living there a while you have such excitement when you are going around the chateaux, its like you are there for the first time in some of these rooms, so lovely.
