@@RamoMonreal I am in the process of doing a fully encrypted external hd with veracrypt with a hidden volume (4.4 TB) as I type this via Windows. The outer volume is at 4.5 TB. So once it's finished, I can then close veracrypt and restart my pc and go to my bio's and into my USB drive that contains Tails. Once I'm in Tails, I can open up veracrypt that I installed (not the built-in veracrypt) and use the veracrypt external hd that I encrypted with windows?
I chose veracrypt file containers instead because it seems easier to makes secure backup's .
How much of a speed impact when writing files on Veracrypt encrypted drives?
Can you still use the same method to encrypt the external HD if you are using Tails OS?
@iSiah Haisi same steps can be performed on an external HDD.

@iSiah Haisi correct, once the HDD gets encrypted. You can mount it again on Tails OS or other operating systems that have veracrypt installed.
