Nice video, nice series. Can't wait to see the results in a couple of months. About to set up my first dirted tank so you have been a great source of information to me
when i saw the initial video (about an hour ago, just stumbled across your channel this evening and am really happy i found it!) set up i was thinking denizens barbs would be a perfect match for the tank. Glad to see a group in there! back to watching !
Awesome to c u posting again, can t wait to c this tank fill out!
Can't wait to see the finished product...........
Good video. Looking forward to seeing all the plants growth in the next updates :)
Hey Evan!! Love your videos and waiting for some new ones, I really like your presentations. I am just starting up my 29 long dirted tank! My question is when you get your tank planted and filled with water.and off we go no lights , no fish and we start to cycle the tank. doing a water change every other day,now when would I add my bacteria starter and would that large of a water change slow down the cycling of the tank?would say 3 or 4 fish help the cycling process ?I plan on planting heavley.I'm planing to start by the end of the week. Any info would be a great help .Thanks so much REX
Would love to see you do a shrimp tank. Love the videos! Keep them coming.
Informative video man. What kind of wood is that?
Thanks for these vids Evan - I set up a Dirted Tank a few weeks ago been watching this playlist a lot and making notes - much appreciated. Just subbed to your FB group too
Thanks for all the amazing tips .... i have a weird situation .. I have as you explained "old tank syndrome" with a under gravel filter .. and for my rebuild i somehow ended up with dirt and fluval substrate ..i know what your gonna say and in my defense i had purchased it before i found your channel . So now i need advise on how to make this work...PLzzzz
I might have missed this in the video, but what happened to the madagascar lace?
on my 55 mainly sense ive got my new quad t5 for it, i 1 set of lights that go off after 6 hours the other goes off an hr later and my moon lights come at the same time as the second of lights go out
Greetings From CalliSF!
Wow I just wanted to say thanks for the 5 videos on setting up a dirted tank. I have been researching for weeks now and by far your channel is the superior on info, details, and has given me the confidence to proceed with my tank. I will surely keep watching and let my fellow San Francisco Peeps check out Cloud9Aquariums. Cheers!
glad to have helped!
Is there any websites you can buy fish tanks or other supplies from? Or possibly fish?
ok Evan you have talked me into it going to do my first dirted tank
Hey bro! I love what you are up to. COuld you please do a video on how to deal with tank bullies. This wouldn't normally be a problem because I don't buy aggresive fish but one of my neon tetras is bullying all of the other ones?
did u sell most your boseies like the original pair and the first two batches of fry
What kind of lighting do u have on your 90 gallon?
What type of lights do you have on this specific tank? T5s, T8s or old school T12s?
5000k, 6500k - whats the total wattage
Does the "dirt" negate the need for co2??
i have a weird yellowish colored water but my pieces of driftwood i have in there did not make my other tanks water yellow. i dont know what to do
What filter are you using?
Love the little pug!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is that eco complete?.
Is that the tank you plasti dipped?
if your going to dirt a tank you should keep enough plants to absorb up all of the nutrient or its not beneficial at all releasing all them into the water
+Ankit Patel Andy? is that you?
Sir. Your tanks are fcking beautiful and inspiring.
That being said, ive set up my dirted tank and capped the soil with 1.5-2 inches of gravel and the water is still turning brown.
Is this something that will subside with water changes or am i doing something wrong??
did you figure anything out?
Yea i was using a potting mix and not a soil. Potting mix has multiple fillers. One of which are chunks of wood. Broke down that tank, sifted out all the fillers and put less soil and more substrate to cap. Problem solved. This was a while ago i dont even have that tank anymore
+St. Charles Geraldizo thank you. i was just wondering how to solve this problem if it happened to me lol.

Good end to the series but I disagree with the clean up crew. It's nice to have a couple SAE'S or a pleco in the tank. But you don't really need them if you tank is balanced with ferts and lights. And in the end it's gonna be a pain to pull those pleco a out when they start wedding up the plants. Great job. Love the channel. You got me started. Check me out bro
I just realize something, I had to do water changes every other day when I started my dirt tank. I was doing it because of tantnis. Sorry I miss spell the last word
Nice video
What about co2 do u use it
+Jesse Maslowski

4 standard Plecos? Oh my - those get ginormous!
