hahaha daaaaamn bro! im watching your vids for the first time today in 2015 and you were talking about having 1200 subs! now you have almost 15k!!! thats awesome! congrats on your success with youtube so far
Both tanks look great Evan - you have a good eye for aquascaping. Regarding your 30 tall, it is highly likely that your plant eating suspect is the Buenos Aires tetra. They'll do a real number on softer plant leaves.
Cichlids are so much fun! Right now I'm big into south and central Americans but when i get my own place I am planning on trying some Africans. I think you will have fun with them!
You're back!! YAY!! :D Holy hell I'm gonna have sweet dreams that my 29 will be like your 30 tall lol! I'm running a new 29 gal bout 2 months now... same time you been gone. It's growing good, thanks to your videos and instruction -made me buy biggest tank allowed in my apartment complex haha! Good thing you're back. I've been comparing everyone's advice to yours for the past two months.
I wish I would have found you sooner. I'm new to the hobby and currently working on a 5gal planted nano which will house 1 show betta. My first attempt was a major fail as I used ada aquasoil led lighting and co2 injection to feed the babytears and other fast growing plants which I started using dry start method. Once I added water I began a month long scramble against every type of algae you can imagine. You were not joking about that being a bad time for beginners... Needless to say I lost that battle. This time around I'm only using 2 small mounds of aqua soil covered in gravel and rock so it won't leach into the water column as badly. I'll only be using Anubiaus Nina and java moss on the driftwood and rocks. Dimmers on the led light possibly no light at all. So now the only challenge will be the small amount of water in the tank and the challenges that will come with that. Any way you'd do a video on a low light / maintenance nano tank?
They might be adjusting to your tank conditions. Some melt is normal. As long as there's fresh growth you're fine. Put them under high light and keep them pruned back and you;ll get an awesome carpet.
im experimenting with the walstead method. That tank has alot of excess nutrients because of the dirt and so it grew algae like a mother until i switched it up
Awesome tank! Nice fish selection! I know plenty of fanatic aquarium-fans who are allways willing to make the derogatory move of calling something like your aquarium a "fish soup". I say they're idiots! It's so pretty and well planed!
I really wish I would have watched your videos before i started this new 20g planted setup! 2 fish and 4 plants later I'm having to redo the whole tank >:| Now I know how to go about it the right way! Love that you have two separate setups with different substrate and lighting. I shouldn't have listened to the pet-store people.. Question- Do you have an algae eater for a small planted aquarium that you would recommend?
Hey! Glad to see you back :D I have a question about regular baby tears. I bought one from a local store in a pot, and i individually buried each stem into my substrate, but now it appears only the upper leaves are alive, while the lower ones are melting. Do you have any recommendations on planting/lighting conditions for regular baby tears?
Hey awesome vids bro I'm confused though, I live in Australia and Baby tears here look like tall stemy plants. Am I meant to chop the tips and bury them to get that carpet look? Or is my LFS just Lieing about the species they are selling?
2 questions . How much did all the stuff in your tank cost not fish .plants filters that kinda stuff.also do u have to do any total clean outs on that tank
could you make a vid on different species? i have angels and torpedo barbs, is my tank the right size, what sort of tank e.g. planted or hard scape, who will they get along wit.i think some vids on different species would be really useful :-)
Hi, i'm 13 years old and really love tanks. i have a 55 gallon long tank that i really want to aquascape. It is a low light aquarium and i wanted you to put up a video or just respond to my message on how i can fill in the whole back. i dont want to see any glass and wanted to see if you could help out!!
Hello, I love your RUclips channel and thought that you may be able to answer this question I have, and haven't been able to figure out. So I have a 55 gallon tank with a Coralife T5 HO quad fixture, with a Co2 system! I bought a few bunches on Rotala Rotundifolia at my LFS about a year ago and it has grown quite large and spread. But it has turned from a beautiful Reddish Orange, to totally green. I've been dosing 5ml of Iron once a week, but that hasn't really been helping, so just wasn't sure what you would do to fix that problem!! I would really appreciate the help!! -Matthew Dyer
@@cloud9aquariums imma keep it real, the this comment did not convey the right tone lmao, I was trying to say something along the lines of its technically not 20 minutes long by 4 seconds, i'd listen for 19:56 but not 20:00. Your vids were actually essential to me building my first aquarium
i accidentally washed my brand new 40 gal tank with dish soap before doing anything else with the tank. i now know i should have never done that. how can i save the tank?
To be safe, I would fill it entirely with water and empty it every 24 hours for a couple days. Few extra steps would be to wipe down the interior with a sponge while full and if you can raise the temperature or add flow / agitation. By doing so you’ll hopefully dilute any remaining soap to levels where it will not be harmful.
I am not trying to be a dick. I love your videos, They have helped me a lot. But in this video I was laughing my azz off. You said the word Umm 35 times. Ya I know I need to get a life and quit counting. Thank you for your knowledge and cant wait to continue watching your awesome videos. Thank you
i have a 75 dirted tank i have a lot of brown algae on all my plants and my amazon swords are melting , what would you suggest i do i was told to buy water from the fish store anyone else having similar probs
Do not use Excel or liquid Co2. It causes anxiety in them for some reason… I just learned this from an ADA Store in my area… I did a huge water change and stopped using Flourish Excel and they all started to come out after the 2nd water change I did about a week later…
I've certainly never heard of excel or liquid CO2 directly changing the behavior of any fish (provided you're not overdosing). I've had very similar issues with my blue rams. They were very timid and wouldn't color up very well. Basically something in your set up is causing them to be uncomfortable. Presence of another intimidating cichlid, not enough hiding places, too much movement or noise in the room are things to consider - also look up the term "dither fish". Best of luck!
I wouldn't generalize slate or any other rock type as being inert as you don't know if it has any contaminates such as iron which would oxidize / rust - speaking from experience. If you didn't buy it from a reputable fish store i would look into performing some simple chemical tests on it. Best of luck!
Beauty, the joys of seeing your plants grow, happier fish, and they can help keep your tank balanced!

that tank is looking real sweet.
Put them under high light, trim and replant. they'll form a carpet eventually. If you let them go they'll get crazy for sure
nice iv watched all of ur vids very helpful dude
glad i could help!
Are you using a co2 system for that tank? The carpet is really comming along great!
im using one now go check it out!

It's baby tears. NOT the dwarf variety. If you grow it under high light and trim it constantly it will carpet fantastically
Hey just out of curiosity, on the 30 tall, why do your lights go off in the middle of the afternoon?
lets say if u had a tank lying around would u go planted or would try out something new
dude you have a great carpet plant! what does it called?
yay your back!
you inspire me to do a plant tank in a 30 long
good stuff

you can use big rocks or just plant jungle val through the back. it will grow really tall.
Thanks @Alma Castro
where did you get the slate from?
Over 200 ums...Subscribed!!!

Is eco complete a good substrate for aquascaping
i'm not sure if someone already asked this question, but do use CO2 injection in your tanks?

Siamese algae eaters are notorious for eating baby tears.

Generally lava rock at the pet shop after a good rinse but obviously there's no guarantee for any rock to be inert
Sounds like you have the wrong temp bulb for your lighting. Get a 6500k daylight bulb. Problem solved!
boiii crystals you can use
