@@hdb80 I'm thinking the keys are 1) super thick layer of primer to provide a super smooth surface, and prevent the makeup from sinking in or shifting. I believe most professional geisha use bees wax as a primer. 2) Blending out and buffing with a huge, clean sponge, 3) Pressing on tons of powder to "set" it. You can do the same with everyday makeup, but it would look really thick and mask-like, just like here.

I would be way too scared of accidentally ruining it to get this done because I'm chronically forgetfull and would probably rub my eye if I got an itch, but the entire process looked so relaxing!
As we speak, i'm wearing extremely thick makeup including white face paint. Not geisha makeup in any sense, but comparable in terms of sensation. You can absolutely feel the makeup on your face and will not forget!! lol dont worry!!! its a constant reminder

So beautiful and soothing. I was amazed how the pink showed through under the white base and also how smooth the white looked. It looked soft and natural and not at all like the face paint I was expecting! Beautiful model and beautiful artist!
Beautiful. It’s done with such care & gentleness. The artist doesn’t do anything without ensuring the model is comfortable. I think I would have the patience to apply to makeup, but I definitely wouldn’t be a good model (always been fidgety about having makeup applied on myself). Still, I think the model was pretty even without the makeup.
I found it so interesting that she applied mascara from the top of the lashes, almost as if to make them straight or point down, rather than curl them.
I would have fallen asleep. I’ve almost done that to my hair stylist before. 😅 it’s so soothing when you have a skilled professional do your makeup and hair ❤
