This transmission does not have a drain plug. for some stupid reason many transmissions from GM don't have one, and there are other manufacturers that have made this ''great'' desicion.
This is one way to still drain & fill the transmission without removing the pan. This procedure can also help if the drain bolt is damaged or stripped, and cannot be opened.

Yeah GM says they don’t put drain plugs in because the fluid should last as long as the transmission I call BS on that one and another thing that clip you put on first and the line snaps in it’s a quick connect just found that out about a year ago lol fought like hell for years with those clips until I figured out that 🤣🤷‍♂️

I dont agree with this video, i think you should always change the filter and drop the transmission pan as some vehicles have a magnet in them, that need to be cleaned and any remaining fluid removed from the pan as needed.

I agree to change the filter is always a good idea (I have another video doing just thaton this truck), but if you want to replace some of the fluid periodically, you can just change the fluid..

You are right in this one. I know that some fluid stays in the torque converter. Even if you drain all the oil in the pan, you still have dirty fluid. My suggestion is to install a Transmission Oil Drain Plug, so once in a while, you can drain the fluid and keep it clean. You can change the transmission filter and gasket every 20,000 miles or more.

NO....as long as you change fluid before it gets dirty (the dirty being metal in oil) then your magnet n filter haven't had time to get dirty!!

I saw someone else's video that also said not to flush but drain only and replace filter and then do it a few more times, say, whenever you change your engine oil. My mechanic wants to do a flush at 38,585 miles. Its pink color. Its a 2005 and only had 18,500 miles when I bought it in 2018. It's a 22 ft motorhome on chevy express 3500 chassis. What do you all think?

Theres defiantly a lot of discussion on this topic, in my opinion a drain and fill is always safer, but most likely a complete transfer like he has in mind, is fine with the low miles you have. The issues mainly happen with dirty fluid, or with a transmission that is starting to fail.

I'm trying to find information. If the engine on a 1999 GMC Express transmission needs to be on when checking the level.
Do I need to have parking brake on.
Have the engine at working temperature.
Shift gears a couple of times before checking the transmission level while engine is still on?
Or engine needs to be off to check level of transportation?
My problem was. It's summer and My transmission would go out of drive with cold engine when turning right.

Engine should be on and warm on all automatic transmissions. Cycle thru all gears. Then put back in park and on level ground check fluid.

By turning it on and draining the transmission fluid. Wouldn’t you be running the transmission on low oil causing it to possibly damage?

In my opinion, and you should do your own research.. the only issue that potentially could be a problem is the oil pump overheating, but that wouldn't happen in this length of time. and thats only if you starve the pump from getting fluid, in this case there's still fluid in the pan when i shut off the car..

NO....just drill a drain hole in bottom of pan and use a short length sheet metal screw with washer fiber seal for drain plug and easy excess for future drainage, but be careful where you drill up into, checking manual for critical component's, so drill in places where there's nothing close to the bottom of the pan....5 min job, good luck
