I worked in a transmission shop way back in the 80s and they would take your transmission out and they would already have a rebuilt one on hand to put back in while they rebuilt yours and put that on the shelf where they just got the rebuilt transmission that was already done. That place only had I think six garage Bay so I wasn't a huge operation but they were able to do it quite efficiently that way
i have a 2007 chevy express with 363 k miles and am having that same problem when you shut it down wait 15 seconds restart it it shifts fine i as well added a fix in a bottle or two bottles of it it's called lucas so far seems ok me personally i would have waited not sure what you done this is a 3 year old video 😕
...just did that. My theory after replacing several transmissions, I plan to request transmission rebuilder to give me paper to indicate the brand name of clutches used in transmission(e.g., Borg Warner, Raybestos, etc.) to ensure the clutches are not cheap knock offs.
The bright red fluid has me a little confused. I would start tracking down a reputable transmission rebuilder,.. you can always tell them to rebuild the transmission even if they didn't find anything wrong because you clearly know there is something going wrong likely the discs are a problem or maybe something contaminated the fluid and got into the valve body,
Hey Joe, get some miles on it now that it is working well. Of the transmissions that I have done they either failed due to fluid contamination or just a major part failure (think Kaboom). 123K is nothing these days on a transmission,. If there was some clutch debris that was holding a valve open or something like that the combination of new fluid and 'miracle in a can' may have just dislodged it and you could be 100%. Could be is not want you want to hear, but that is why, while you are in demand, prove or disprove that it is working. If the shop did a pressure test as well as a road test, I would be happy with that. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Getting it rebuilt and then installing it yourself is probably your best bet. It's not that hard a job.. far easier than removing the engine is... One of those jobs when you're done with it you're saying that's it?!!?
Get a used Transmission Assembly along with a Torque Converter, both have rebuilt, make sure you have new solenoids, and new gasket. A gasket can run $100, so repairs will look at cut cost, by using old old, if it hasn't been cut, its it's good, resealable, examined it.
I have a 2006 express 4:8 V8 85000 miles my been slipping over year now the Check light come on and off every now and then drive fine except when I am in traffic that first gear slip my suggestion for $2000-2500 have a transmission shop put in a new rebuild one some shop will warranty it up to three years
your van should have the 4l80-e trans in it most times they are good to go for at least 300 thousand miles unless your pulling heavy trailer that being said if you buy one just buy one already rebuilt and would have a decent warranty you might have deal with a core charge
Thanks for the comment! I'm going to showcase this comment during this week's Live Stream, Sunday, Oct 25, Episode 19 at 7 PM Est. Hope you can make it!
Hey! I ended up going to Precision Transmission in Pennsauken. It's on RT 130 near where the Pennsauken Mart used to be. They rebuilt the transmission for $2700. It's been flawless since and I'm very happy. Hope that helps!
I have a 2005 2500Express with 644000 miles. The transmission slips changing gears at 45 mph when in Drive yet doesn't slip at all when I have it in position 3. Fluid or mechanical?
It had to be several thousand. It ran good for months, but then it literally just blew up. Transmission fluid everywhere. After I refilled it, it barely shifted and the check engine light came on. The additive it just a temporary stop gap. The transmission will fail!
@@GettinJunkDone and what was your code that you read? I just bought a van that sat for 3 years. Started driving it on Friday last week and the transmission slips and does what you said your transmission did.
Today is May 17th 2020 I drive for an auto parts store as a hub driver I drive a 2019 2500 cargo van started to do the same thing transmission slamming when you start to take off this started in January told the boss about it then I also in January discovered that General Motors has a service bulletin on their Transmissions going bad I think 15 years and it just keeps getting worse and they wont do anything about it I would look into the service bulletin
Depending on the drivetrain you are looking at, you would expect different issues. But my 3500 with the 6.0 has been pretty reliable. I had an issue with the IAC valve, water pump leaking, engine fan, and a weird issue with the tail light wiring. Besides the transmission and those issues I just mentioned, that it's been a work horse. I'm closing in on 200K miles and I just keep driving it. Tows good too.
Generally if the transmission guy is good that transmission will last almost twice as long as it did the first time around.. specially the old timers they know how to do tricks that the young boys don't know..
@@vladimirnesen2977 I was driving my 2006 Chevy express 2500 V8 4.8L with so much weight for awhile and right after I took all the heavy things out of my van , I’m now having transmission check engine code P0894, the truck shift super smooth for the first 20 miles and then it’ll jump on shifting through the gears !! I’m about to change oil and filter and also tcc solenoid hopefully that’ll take care of the issue. The van has just hit 160xxx miles by the way and the transmission was serviced at 80xxx at AMCCO transmission shop before.
Hey FJ, I'll be discussing this during my live stream tonight at 7 pm EST, Episode 26. Hopefully you can check it out. Long story short, I ended up investing in a new transmission and have been very happy with it.
Joe Joe Joe...get a brand new van / truck. I always had second hand vehicles ( with problems) and then thought enough is enough. There are great deals on new vehicles (here in UK anyway) So I went brand new never looked back. A new vehicle will get you work also because you look more professional 👍👍👍

Well, this isn't exactly what I was looking for but I am kind of in the same boat right now. Only my transmission is going right now. If I was in your position, and I know this vid was posted a while ago, what I would do is take that van to the shop asap, get a rental truck, and never slow down with your business. Keep the customers happy, keep the business going, and have the van fixed while renting a truck. Another though is to actually purchase yourself a backup vehicle so when this stuff happens you have it at your disposal and don't have to get a rental. If you have a rental for 6 months waiting for something to get done with your van you could have bought a backup vehicle. Again, I know this was posted a while ago but for future reference maybe my 2 cents will help.
That's what I did bought another used chevy 2500 express and now my 05 2500 express transmission is shifting hard and not trying to shift . All need transmissions I think😢

Thanks for watching! I honestly wish I could tell you, the windows were already covered a white film somehow when I bought the van.

Option three. I did this with my diff.
I ended up getting a rebuilt transmission installed by a shop. Well worth it.

What was the quick fix you bought?
Probably lucas
Oh wow!
He poured “some stuff” in it, and it worked…
Couldn’t even remember what it was…
Amazing fucking waste of my time!
Thx bro!
Just telling my story "bro."
The hard shiting I know it could be related to converter solenoid or converter, the slipping I'm sure is the clutches.
My savanna is doing the same thing. I run a roofing company and can not afford down time 🙄
My 2007 3500 with the 6.0 just started. Going to get the filter and fluid changed today

i ended up driving it until it was totally done, then got a shop to rebuild it. Cost $2700 at the time.
Where is the tcm on these.. can’t find it anywhere
I came here looking for the answer to the same problem.

Is that the 6.0 or the 4.3
Yup. Do the junk yard transmission deal.
Put total full coverage insurance on it an total it into a ditch
I ended up with a new transmission.
Gettin' Junk Done how much did it cost you?
Thinking about buying a 2009 express van with 190 thousand miles. Can get it for$900 , what issues can I expect.

Pick number 3 my Lord holds up two fingers
so what happened?
Spent $2800 on a new transmission.
Take it to the shop let them fix it
Sell the van while the van is good. Purchase a low miles same van. Only down time is dmv for paperwork
Use Lucas automatic transmission fluid Two bottles and be driving forever
Why not just one bottle ?
One bottle for small car two bottle for bigger transmission like Van or big heavy vehicle
