I've identified deities for myself and friends, and I've never had an experience that straightforward or frilly. Even with the direct cases (I hear a name very clearly in a dream and just need to figure out which friend it's for, etc), there's still a huge back and forth about whether I'm allowed to tell them or if they need to come to conclusions on their own. If I try to do a reading before the deity wants to be known, I usually can't get further than being able to confirm there is someone paying attention, but with no clue who it could be. The idea that a complete stranger can get specifics and a channeled message without knowing more than your name is flimsy at best, and when they claim they can do this for deities and spirits across several pantheons and cultures, I become even more skeptical. These things take time and research, and no one's doing that for $5 a pop.

This was my feeling when I got a "channeled message" from my ishta deva. It was technically complete sentences, but it was just so bland. Its all bs, so why not just swing big and make up something funny? Like "Apollo has spoken through me to remind you to buy atheletes foot spray tomorrow" or something
I did a decently successful deity reading for myself many years ago. I was trying to find the identity of a presence so I did a reading, and while the deity was very clear about his intentions and domains, he did not tell me who he was. It took me literal years of work to piece together what information I could gain before I was confident in his identity and actively working with him. Maybe an in-person reader could help make sense of the messages faster, but just based on my own experience I don't believe an impersonal online reading could ever be accurate enough to give a name so easily and quickly. The only reason I'd buy this would be that I'm curious how many pantheons they have in their database, because mine probably wouldn't be there! I had bought a reading from the first shop (and subsequently the last one reviewed) last autumn, and I went back to go read it because of this video, and it has been deleted! RIP my $5 purchase roflmao
For that price range, I wouldn't expect much effort either. It's got to take at least an hour to get all that done, right? Probably more if you're doing it right. But I wouldn't get out of bed for less than 15 an hour. Then again, after that many sales, I feel like you at least have the opportunity to improve on the pre-written stuff that you actually send out.

I actually have an agreement with my primary spirit that I am not going to touch these things with a ten foot pole. Even if one or two are legit, they will never replace doing the work to connect with spirits yourself and learning for the love of learning. Your relationship with the spirits is richer andmore fulfilling when self-taught and self-led and any guidance comes from trusted sources not looking to exploit you. Capitalsim infects everything, including paganism.
I loved this video!! I feel the same way about deity confirmation readings. I sell readings but only to help people understand the situation more. Sometimes I just offer them for free to help people who don’t have money and need some advice. But deity work is so personal to me I couldn’t pay someone to tell me something I could ask my deity about. Not saying is bad but you know; there is something sketchy about so many of these. Also sprry for multiple posting but if, after just 6 years of being eclectic pagan i have an advice for people, it's this: Entering a devotional relationship with a deity doesn't have to be big an complicated and full of signs. Sure, if that happens, it's very very cool. But sometimes just feeling drawn to a specific deity couod be your sign to delve into that. Do your research, trust your own intuition (as in do your own divination and trust that you are capable of that). As for offerings... Again, do research. Unless there are items that the deity doesn't like (according to their lore/legends/whatever) then it's ok to offer it. Doesn't have to be big and complicated and it doesn't need to be expensive either. This is just my UPG but the gods aren't actually picky and fickle. A daily glass of water for them will suffice, if you give it from your heart, plus you take time out of your hectic day to do something for them. And they appreciate that. And ofc offerings don't have to be physical either. Find a god's associations and maybe include those in your everyday life. For Hades, i have found that a perfectly good offering is giving my dog extra treats and spoiling her rotten. He's a dog person, he appreciates that kinda thing (this is partly upg partly based on his lore). Anyways, you get what i mean. You don't need a deity reading before you start worshipping and working with a deity.
Fucking satan and sons has more concrete and consistent information on spirits then this generated slop. Sidenote: for me, crystals are nothing special in on themselves. Yes, I use them as tools for grounding and charging spells, but aside from that I just think they're neat.
I'm just concerned that, most of the times, crystals hide a scenario devastated by mineration, often extracted with slave labor and deflorestation in the global south, and are sold as harmless beautiful stones overseas. But they are, indeed, neat.

I started feeling an intense connection to Apollo completely out of nowhere a few weeks ago, and I bought one of these readings for a lark. It was only $1.50, so I figured "why not"? Well, this person suggested I look into the God... Apollo! I know it could be complete coincidence, and I was never going to make any actual life changes or start worshiping a deity JUST because some person on etsy told me so, but since I was already getting drawn to Him it really helped me confirm how I was already feeling. I have a tendency to second guess myself so it was nice. Obviously I avoided any exorbitantly expensive readings, or readings with ridiculous AI generated images. The person I bought mine from seems like a much more genuine person. I don't want to name any names but I'm sure anyone who looks on etsy will be able to find her, you just have to sift through the obvious cash-grabs.
With the universe some coincidences are rare. It sounds like Apollo is trying to reach out to you. Personally I use the 333 rule. I pick a specific thing associated with a deity and if I come across that sign three times or even the name of said deity then it’s meant to be. I say this as someone who didn’t realize Apollo was reaching out until my depression got real bad and it took me reconnecting with my inner child, playing in the dirt in the sun, spotting crows and cardinals and getting back into my spontaneous wiggles aka personal dance parties

I've only ordered one of the items you mentioned in this video, which was the very first one, and i have similar critiques on the google doc ! I also though that they'd write a ritual or song/chant *for* me, since I am a new witch and just getting into paganism (though i consider myself more spiritual than religious). Other than the google doc thing, the letters I got from my respective deities were very personal and pertained to a specific situation in my life or just me as a person and i was actually extremely surprised, cuz they were very detailed?? it not that expensive so I wasn't expecting all that but !!! but i think it was more personal for me cuz i dreamt of said deities before i bought the confirmation? idk tbh. i do wanna mention though that im open to deities from any pantheon so ! also that art does look like ai art 😭😭
honestly speaking, you dont even need real name or birth date. the fact that you purchased and agreed to the reading, there's already an energetic tether between the reader and you so that should be sufficient for their reading.
Open up an email and let followers give you a reading in a video, and I'll send you one for free 😅 When I used to do these readings, they were a lot more in-depth than these and not necessarily love and light. I think if people are going to do these, they can't be cookie cutter. You need really creative questions. I had some that missed the mark, but many seemed to help others. I did find these sorts of readings worked better when I did them with my personal Pantheon, where the Gods knew me. They were much more willing to then use me to convey a message. But I've always reccomended people take them with a pinch of salt and reach out themselves primarily. We can't expect readings to be accurate 100%. Though, I have rarely charged. I would have expected more from these people though.

I can see how you found these shallow. The consensus would be that the folks that would purchase this would be those that do not have the depth of knowledge you already have. It would be interesting if you did this again but, let the seller know your advanced knowledge and experience. Then see if you get a different, hopefully, more precise info. I notice that I get a very different reading from card readers from when they do or do not know that I have been a reader for 50 years myself.

Other than the google doc thing, the letters I got from my respective deities were very personal and pertained to a specific situation in my life or just me as a person and i was actually extremely surprised, cuz they were very detailed?? it not that expensive so I wasn't expecting all that but !!! but i think it was more personal for me cuz i dreamt of said deities before i bought the confirmation? idk tbh. i do wanna mention though that im open to deities from any pantheon so ! also that art does look like ai art 😭😭

honestly speaking, you dont even need real name or birth date. the fact that you purchased and agreed to the reading, there's already an energetic tether between the reader and you so that should be sufficient for their reading.

Open up an email and let followers give you a reading in a video, and I'll send you one for free 😅 When I used to do these readings, they were a lot more in-depth than these and not necessarily love and light. I think if people are going to do these, they can't be cookie cutter. You need really creative questions. I had some that missed the mark, but many seemed to help others.
I did find these sorts of readings worked better when I did them with my personal Pantheon, where the Gods knew me. They were much more willing to then use me to convey a message.
But I've always reccomended people take them with a pinch of salt and reach out themselves primarily. We can't expect readings to be accurate 100%. Though, I have rarely charged. I would have expected more from these people though.

I can see how you found these shallow. The consensus would be that the folks that would purchase this would be those that do not have the depth of knowledge you already have. It would be interesting if you did this again but, let the seller know your advanced knowledge and experience. Then see if you get a different, hopefully, more precise info. I notice that I get a very different reading from card readers from when they do or do not know that I have been a reader for 50 years myself.

I have thought about that and discussed it at length with a friend of mine. I’m not really sure. I think GPT is a bit too stripped down and prone to making things a PSA. But I think you could use the API to create something more divinatory.
i got a free deity reading from someone on discord a while ago and it was kinda… the same stuff as you got told. general niceties. i also got told to make sure i had protections in place before reaching out which is weird because it was specifically a hellenism reading.
