  • For our final episode of 2022, we welcome back one of our favorite guests: Raechel Henderson! We talk to her about her newest book: The Scent of Lemon & Rosemary, Working Domestic Magick with Hestia. Raechel talks to us about who Hestia is, the benefits of working with her as a Deity, and how to make rituals and magical practices from our domestic tasks. Why not make cleaning the floor, a task that already needs to be done, into a magical act at the same time? Raechel offers many inspiring tips in this episode and her book!
Be sure to check out our show notes for links to Raechel's social media, her awesome Patreon account, her books and Raechel's first appearance on Ep 73 when we talked about her first book: Sew Witchy.
Happy New Year, thank you all for your continued support, and Jim and I look forward to bringing you an awesome 2023 of Knit A Spell!

I love this conversation so much. I am a housekeeper by profession (self-employed, yay!) and LOVE domestic work. There is so much magic to be found in the home, and our homes are living entities that want to be cared for! I just discovered Hestia the other day via the book Magical Housekeeping by Tess Whitehurst (literally by opening the book randomly to a page to see what insights would be there, and there she was!). I will definitely be buying Rachael's book! Thank you!

So glad this episode resonated with you! Raechel has been one of our favorite people to interview because of her relatable practices. Hope you enjoy her book as much as we did!

I am not an “anything goes” kind of witch by any means, but there is so much here that I agree with. I was so glad you said- our ancestors didn’t necessarily delineate the magic from the mundane. Cooking for your family, cleaning, etc where all magical spiritual practices and the tools where what they had, not things they bought from a metaphysical store.

Exactly!! It's like remembering we didn't always knit just for fun. It used to be for survival and the protection magic was quite literal. Practical magic is really fun for those reasons, I think!

Those associations make perfect sense to me. Bedroom as earth makes perfect sense. Earth being foundational and sleep is foundational… the 4 corners of the bed (I associate 4 with earth as well). Earth is solid and support and the bedroom should be that.

So glad this resonated with you! I've recently been thinking how the office is very air-y, especially with all this tech. Raechel is so inspiring!

I need to get Rachel's book! This video popped up in my suggested today randomly... And today is the day I am filming a video about Vesta and how she's my patron deity and how indeed she came to me to help when o was at risk of homelessness. This is the kind of syncronicity that, even as someone who doesn't have a clear perception of energy and deity communication, make me feel like I am on the right track 🔥

I'd say you're on the right track! I love synchronicities like this, thank you for sharing! You would love Raechel's book for sure!

@@LightFromLantern I made sure to link this video in the description of mine, it comes out tomorrow! I for Rachel's book meanwhile, clearly Vesta / Hestia didn't want me to talk about Her and not mention it ☺️
