Orchestral backing is fantastic but the voice is original,nothing can beat a voice like his 👍👍👍👍
And he still sings this well today. He was a coach on The Voice ( British) and he sang “A Man’s World” with Jennifer Hudson during one of the breaks and it’s freaking phenomenal!! Jennifer clearly was in total awe all season of his vocals. Really cute to see a young artist have such respect for a “ more seasoned” artist!!
At the age of 12, Tom was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Many years later, he said, "I spent two years in bed recovering. It was the worst time of my life." During this time, he could do little else but listen to music and draw. Just think after having an extremely bad disease that affects the lungs and can sing like that is extraordinary 😁 Sir Tom Jones is 84 on June 7th this year and still sings with the same power, emotion and control as he did back in 1967. He is still touring all around the world and is a judge on the voice UK that’s some career he has had absolutely ❤ love Toms voice 👍🏻🤩🏴

fun fact; the guy who wrote this song for Tom was Lonnie Donegan, who passed away in 2002, and a few years ago Lonnie’s son Peter auditioned on The Voice, which Tom Jones is a judge on, and they did an impromptu performance of this song for the audience when Tom found out that Peter was Lonnie Donegan’s son

This song was written by Lonnie Donegan and a few years ago while Tom Jones was a judge on the voice Lonnie Donegan’s son performed and the judge that turned for him was Tom Jones. Then they performed this son live together. It was incredible TV.

He has a long list of hits, including Delilah, Green, Green Grass of Home, and my personal favorite, I Who Have Nothing. Tom also had his own show during the 60's where he sang along with many guests, including Janis Joplin, Cher, and Stevie Wonder - available on RUclips.

When I was in elementary school, my parents watched his show on TV. Tom Jones was my first crush.
This was written by Tom's friend and fellow British musician Lonny Donegan! Tom did this on the Voice UK a couple years ago with the late Lonny Donegan's son and contestant Peter. Tom turned his chair and became Peter's coach. Well worth the watch!
His version of the song "I who have nothing" is great too.

I'm a baby boomer who grew up in the 60s and 70 s... Then and now loved Elvis and Tom Jones but Tom wasn't out as long and have as much of a long-lasting effect as Elvis did...
You need to do research on the talent show The Voice with Tom Jones as a judge like recently like in the last year or two.. he has done duets and he has sung on the show and I think at 80 or 82

Consummate performer - only Tom Jones. Not too shabby for a boy from such a tiny country as Wales. Also a very small town in that nation. His voice has never paled with time. He is and always will be one of Britains best singers.

Some others of Tom Jones, She's a Lady, Help Yourself, Green Green Grass of Home, Delilah, are a few of a huge catalogue. May I also suggest Procol Harum , Whiter Shade of Pale , released 1957 I believe but watch the Denmark live version, it is incredible I kid you not. Great reaction.

Tom is Welsh meaning he’s from Wales the smallest of the countries that make up the UK (the others being England, Scotland, Northern Ireland), the population of Wales is just 3 million!
Tom lives in Las Vegas and has done residency gigs there for years. The first show he did there Elvis Presley was in the audience and went back stage to meet Tom and famously asked him “how d’ya sing like that?”. They were close friends thereafter until Elvis’ premature death. Tom is still recording and touring and is a permanent fixture on The Voice UK as judge/mentor despite being in his early-mid 80’s now. In the late 1980’s he teamed up with the Art Of Noise to record a cover version of Prince’s song Kiss which was a big hit for them!
I, Who Have Nothing is my favorite Tom Jones song of all time. I've had the pleasure of seeing Tom Jones six times in concert and every single time it's been some of the best. If you get a chance to ever see him in concert go you will not be disappointed.
