This man's voice was god given I bet people heard this man's voice a mile away the power in his voice is just amazing
He was very ill here but did not want to disappoint his fans...he died about 7 weeks after this concert. Elvis loved his fans....🌻⚡

Best reaction to this performance! Love your facial expressions and how much you enjoyed it. Elvis was so ill here, but that note he hits and holds is truly astonishing. The piano, the backup singers shouting encouragement to Elvis and him looking at them is so endearing, especially knowing that we lost him 6 weeks later. This entire concert is bittersweet for me because it's hard to see Elvis looking so unwell, but I'm so glad we have it and that God let us have him for a little while.
I find myself crying as I realize how grateful I am that we can still see his love and beauty. He was one of a kind.

The evil music industry drugged him and therefore killed him in my book. I loved Elvis but I had to endure two Women in my house crying daily, all day for weeks. Now at 56 I fully understand the power that he had, straight from God! Love him still. He is timeless and his gospel music is off the charts.
He has said multiple times in interviews that he really didn't like to be called The King because said there was only one king and it was up above. For all his swag and commanding presence, he was still really humble guy.

Elvis does great gospel songs with a rock voice touch. I wish more artists would do that with scripture
The famous opera singer Luciano Pavarotti once said that if Elvis head had any formal vocal training he might well have ended up being the best gospel singer of the century. And I really feel like you can hear some of that on display in this performance. Thank you for the reaction
What I love about his version is that Elvis places the emphasis on the words of Praise to the Lord, just beautiful!

This was right before Elvis passed away. We lost a great artist.

Jane H commenting …. I cry every time I watch Elvis singing this. This was at a secular concert, his final televised concert, though he did one the following week, & then 8 weeks later the Lord took him home. I think he knew, & when he sang this, you can see the great love he had in his heart for His Father God & for his Saviour Jesus. He was a very sick man at this concert, & the concerts leading up to this one, but God gave him something very special for this concert, & although his previous concerts had not been up to his usual high standard of singing, in this concert he sang the two songs I have seen from it, the best I have heard him sing. He shouldn’t have been able to do that, as sick as he was, but I think the Holy Spirit just flooded his whole being & blessed him so that he could leave an unforgettable memory to all those who loved him, & 47 years on, still love him.

indeed he was. Elvis was a dear friend for 10 yrs. up until his death. I was a kid from Memphis i needed a friend and E. did as well. I won a radio show contest the prize was a day with Elvis. He asked nothing from me and i asked nothing of him just his friendship. Love to you and your family from the one and only Memphis Tn.

Even though I'm not a Christian, your sincerity is evident and this rendition has amazed me since I was a little kid. Elvis may have had a difficult times towards the end of his life with forgetting lyrics but oh, that voice. He never lost it.

Elvis and i were friends for 10 yrs. up until his death. I was a kid from Memphis how we met was a series of events that i will not go into He wanted a friend and so did i we were that for each other. i asked nothing of him and he asked nothing of me. Elvis did not make friends easily because more times than not they wanted something from him. And as for parker all he wanted was money. Elvis was very ill his last time on stage he begged parker not to make him do it because he didn't want anyone to see him that way but did Parker care oh hell no. Between Parker who i hated and the so called Dr. Nick they killed the best friend i ever had in my life, i will always love and miss my friend always. Awesome reaction Devin. ,I love your passion for this song. This version is my absolute favorite of any version by anyone. Elvis sang gospel like nobody's business. His love for Christ was always on display for all to see and hear. He wore a cross, a chai, and a star of David. He said he did this because he didn't want to miss getting into Heaven on a technicality. On the subject of Elvis, you should check out the 1972, Elvis On Tour, performance of "Sweet Sweet Spirit" by his male backup group, J.D. Summer and The Stamps. Elvis asks them to sing it during a show he was doing in Hampton Roads. It'll give you chills. I promise.

Life long Elvis enthusiast and this will always be my all time favorite performance. It’s so easy for us to say that Elvis nailed it but we struggle to accept that Jesus took the three nails on the cross. Dear friends, don’t run from the greatest gift, free forgiveness of all your wrong doings and a relationship with the creator and sustainer of all that ever was or will be. What price would you not pay for your child or loved ones? What sacrifice would you not make to have a continual loving relationship with that person?
Jesus paid it all to have a relationship with you, yes you. Don’t let the devil deceive you or scare you away from this life changing decision.

In the 70's I was fortunate enough to see Elvis perform this live. It was unbelievable.

This is the mosr beautifull song that Elvis sing he loved too sing gospel songs and he loved God.
Elvis & gospel have always been synonymous. It's something that he learned & was taught as a little boy & it never left him. People often forget the magnitude of Elvis performing gospel in a secular setting in that era. It was a risk & EP took it every single time because he knew the love of Jesus & what God had done for him. It became one of the most natural things as his signature to perform gospel at his concerts. He had a lot of backlash with it, but always stood firm, & did it anyway. Personally, as a Follower of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, & one in the Entertainment Biz, I'm always moved by his unfailing tenacity to promote the good news no matter the cost. I have such an enormous respect of him for that! Undoubtedly we know where EP stands. I’ve never seen Elvis sing like this. Wow!!!!!!!!! He wasn’t just a hip shaker - he had an amazing powerful voice. I get it now. I thought he was a gimmick because of how so many people have done cheesy imitations. He was a great singer.

At the Elvis exhibition Direct from Graceland this morning, they displayed his Grammies certificates, one of the three was for this rendition of How Great Thou Art. His voice reaches into my chest and wrenches out my soul when he teats it up and smiles beautifully ❤
