People who was with Elvis said he said his leg hurt so bad and he felt horrible before the show he was dying in front of our eyes and he still gave his fans his all. From a third generation Elvis fan thank you for keeping Elvis alive. He was a gift from God gone too soon.

Love your remarks about Elvis because I feel the same way about his singing and where he takes you. Elvis loved gospel music because it was his way to praise God and give witness to Christ. Elvis was not perfect but he loved God and tried to lead others to him.

I’ve seen Elvis eight times in concert and those were the eight greatest moments of my life. I’ve been a fan for 60 years my eyes first set upon him when I was five years old watching an Elvis movie with my dad ….my life was never again the same. I hope the last voice I hear on this earth will be his. God bless you, and thank you for sharing Elvis with the new generation.

This is one of his last concerts, weeks before passing away. He's visibly not in the best of health. But what's amazing is that his voice never fails him.
The power, clarity, intonation, and range are so incredible. From a rock n' roll/country singer? The smile on his face when he hits that first big note verifies that he loves this music so much.
Your assessment is eloquent & right on target. "An American Trilogy" live at the Hawaiian concert is another breathtaking performance along with "Steamroller Blues."

At 52, I still have very vivid memories of loving Elvis from an early age. The very first time I got my own money to spend however I wanted (age 6) I got 3 things: my ears pierced, a Shirley Temple record, and an Elvis record. They were my favorite singers at that time. lol. I remember forcing my grandparents and my brother and sister to listen to those two records over and over and over. And I LOVE his music to this day. Everything I learn about him gives me new insight into the amazing, but tortured, man. How can you NOT love him?

I have been listening to and watching Elvis for over sixty years now, and to this date, I have never seen any artist put more power. passion and every ounce of his being into a Gospel song than Elvis Aaron Presley. Many sing Gospel with power and passion,, but there is something special when Elvis sings a Gospel song, you just feel it. Elvis moved people for DECADES when he sang Gospel songs, and HE IS STILL moving people FORTY SEVEN years after he left us, AMAZING!!

Thank you so much for defending Elvis! He had such a strong belief in God that he almost always included a gospel song in his performances! Who else would do that? Gospel was his favorite songs to sing! Elvis got so much disrespect from many people and its so unfair! They dont bash all the other artists who got addicted to drugs, but so much is made of Elvis' drug use! He had many physical and emotional issues to deal with, not to mention he was worked to death! These artists today do like 3 or so concerts in a week! Elvis did 2 or 3 shows a day in Las Vegas and then went out on tours! Who could endure that? Ty...keep going! Great reaction!

This takes me back to when we lost him. I was 13 when Elvis died, my mam woke me up to tell me. We were both crying we loved him so much. He died less than 7 weeks after this performance. They were playing his songs on the radio non stop. This was played as one of the tributes. I live in Ireland 🇮🇪 it was night time when there was a break from normal TV to announce Elvis died. I still love Elvis to this day. Love your tee shirt. Elvis is the king. I envy you only starting off on your journey of Elvis. He didn’t sing that he prayed.

"THERE IS ONLY ONE KING ,AND HE'S IN HEAVEN". Elvis is there, too. Elvis's fame is Rock n' Roll... but, his heart was in Gospel. His 3 GRAMMY AWARDS, all for Gospel, 2 for HOW GREAT THOU ART, different renditions, different years, and 2 for HE TOUCHED ME, are a testament to that. When life starts getting the better of me, I listen to YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE, and HOW GREAT THOU ART, and I know Jesus is holding me up, saying, "Keep going. I'm right here with you.".

If you want him to take you to church, then check out his live performance of "American Trilogy" (the "Aloha Live from Hawaii" concert that was seen by a record-breaking world-wide audience of over 1 billion, via satellite, January 1973. It's pure "church" from his first breath to the final, spectacular note. The three songs in the trilogy are "Dixie", "All My Trials" (sometimes known as "Hush Little Baby" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". Simply breathtaking. Mesmerizing. Don't know any better way to describe it.

Elvis really loved his fans & we will love him forever! When you can't explain how you feel listening to him...we know how you feel! Moving & dancing around he was splitting his trousers. Elvis studied Karate & the outfit for that gave him the idea of the onesies he would later perform in. The material had give in it so he could perform without bursting out. Elvis always wanted to give 100% to his fans & they paid their money to see him perform & he was not going to come out in jeans & a t-shirt! He grew up dirt poor & wore denim overalls & said when he had the money he would never wear denim again. Of course over the years his outfits got more bedazzling ! Elvis did all of that, not for himself, but for his fans! We know Elvis gives 100% & one fan wrote "He even sings with his face!" Elvis grew up in the Church & Gospel music was always his favorite! Singing was a God-given talent & Elvis knew that! God gave us Elvis only for a little while & there will never be another like him. He wasn't just a talented singer...Elvis Presley was a wonderful, kind, giving human being!

This is the year Elvis died, and these performances are where the typical sterotypes came from, but the vast majority of his career was not like this. It's true that he was having serious health issues at this time and probably should have cut back on what he was doing. Something serious was going on with his health in 77, he was pretty sick by this point. His health problems would kill him by August of that year. He actually really didn't like being called "The King of Rock & Roll" and never called himself that.

My mother died 7 months ago so this song will always have a special significance to me until I am reunited with them again!

Start watching the old videos of Elvis in 1956 when he was 19 when he was just getting started. There are tons of books but a lot of the books the people who wrote them were trying to make themselves look good by making him look bad. He was the most generous human being ever. He gave more to charity and to every day people. If you go to Graceland you will be overwhelmed at how much he gave. He bought people off the street cars. He paid for operations. Elvis won a grammy for his gospel album. He never won a grammy for being the single most important person for changing music. They spent the first part of his career trying to stop him from performing. They say the establishment got him drafted to try to stop him, but he served in the army and came back bigger than ever. The music industry would not be the music industry without Elvis. Every single person who every won an award owes Elvis for opening the doors for them. When he came out the young people went crazy and music changed forever. He stayed the same humble person based on his simple background and how his mother brought him up. Everything he did he did for his fans because he said they got him to where he was. The reason he wore the glitzy suits was because he was in Vegas and performed to sold out shows. Vegas was all about glitz and he was the King and he dressed the part. He wanted to give the fans as much as he could for coming to see him. Elvis believed in numerology. His suits reflected his numerology numbers to give his performance it's highest energy. Whether you believe that or not, he did. He was always great on the stage. The audience and his fans were all he cared about. He directs the orchestra, the singers, and each part of the orchestra. There instruction was to watch his every move in case he targeted them for a solo. Everyone on stage watched him constantly for cues. There is no BAD Elvis song. Ever. They're just different. There are some fun ones like Polk Salad Annie, or T R O U B L E. Totally different but you get something different out of all of them. That's why its impossible to pick one. You feel like your letting the rest down by choosing just one because they're all good. There is a story about Johnny Rivers. A young guy that Elvis befriended who was just one of the guys trying to be Elvis. Elvis allowed him to listen to "Memphis Tennessee". (long distance information give me Memphis Tennessee - Elvis version mentions (get in touch with my Marie (his daughter) Elvis was from Memphis. Johnny stole the song and put it out before Elvis could. 1964. Elvis recorded it after the fact but people thought it was Johnny's song and Elvis was covering it instead of Johnny stole the song from Elvis and recorded it first. Elvis only said, "I guess he needed a good song." See the generosity? Elvis was grateful he had a ton of hit songs. He never talked about it. I'm sure that story came from someone in his inner circle and they told it. Elvis wouldn't. God put him on earth for a reason. I think it was to bring people together. And boy did he. 67 years since he came out....he still is The King. The earthly King. He's a phenomenon.

Heartbreaking when you realise he passed away just weeks after this concert. God bless him. For us he gave his all. Visited Graceland twice, 2002 and 2022 for Elvis week . Truly magical. He just had it all. As John Lennon once said “before Elvis there was nothing “. His three Grammys were for his gospel music 🎵 react to Run on and milky white way please and you’ll never walk alone .

So excited you found Elvis’ true being. You remind me of Blac Elvis the reactor. He was so funny cuz he couldn’t believe he’d reached his age and never even heard “Hound Dog.” He is now probably one of Elvis’ greatest fans, though he’s not an OG like me😂. I’ve been a fan since the 50’s when Elvis first hit the scene. Thank you for your honesty and fairness. I believe Elvis music will bless you.

That man was powerful. Those who can only joke about the "Fat" Elvis have no idea how great he was. The man was so, so sick here. But that VOICE! My goodness. Singers need songs, entertainers need only a stage.

And now that you have seen that stupendous version of How Great Thou Art, just six or seven weeks before his death, check out his 1972 Vegas version of it when he's only a few years younger, but it will also take you to church. I love both versions so much. And keep in mind he is in the gospel Hall of Fame, and his gospel albums have won a lot of awards in that direction.
