    Jesus Thank you, finally a video that actually shows how to set the smarthings hub with the harmony control. I was having a hard time understanding how it works together.
    THANKS AGAIN!!
    You should change the tittle of your video to
    HOW TO SET SMARTTHIGS HUB WITH HARMONY ELITE TO WORK WITH ALEXA VOICE COMMANDS.

    Dude, thank you so much for this. I had an error while adding my harmony activities to the hub and had to contact support but got it all working like a charm now!! Got all my lights and entertainment stuff setup up and so much quicker than using IFFT, lol.

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  8 лет назад

      Yes, definitely quicker than Ifttt... Glad its working for you now and that the video helped,
      Cheers!

      +jesus gallardo Just wish it would work with my Sensi thermostat now. I cannot say how much I am loving this. I am using with an app called SmartTiles and am in awe of the things they have to make using this so much easier. Only thing I don't care for is the routines...could make it a little easier to make them.

      +jesus gallardo I think having the echo and smart hub will help my family adapt to the smart home idea! I prefer the real world type of videos like you made. Thanks again Jesus.

      +Brian Bonnell yes! That is the perfect way to het somebody hooked up into the smart world, once your family start interacting with alexa, they are going to love it, enjoy! Thanks for making these videos, they have really helped me with what to buy for what I want to do. Are you able to change channels with the Echo?

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  8 лет назад

      Me personally, no I can't change the channels, i have heard it is possible but its more complicated and its just a work around not a proper way... there is a new device called blumoo... ( www.blumoo.com) which it looks like it also works with the amazon echo and apparently you can indeed change the cannels with it. i would buy it but u already have the harmony... as tempting as it is i cant keep buying every single product that comes out... haha
      check it out and see which one works best for you.
      Thank you for watching!

    I have one question if thats alright. You imported all the commands/activites from the harmony hub into the smart things hub. Do you need the harmony hub? or can you just have the smart things hub and use that to connect devices?

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  7 лет назад

      MatterMatters Mate hi! All questions are welcome! Yes i did import the activities into the smartthings hub, but that was because before there was no other way to interact with the harmony hub through Alexa. Nowadays the smartthings hub is not necessary anymore for that. So in short the smartthings hub you can go without but the harmony hub you need it if you want to control your media... you wont be able to add separate entertainment media controls just to the smartthings hub...

    • @mattermattersmate4052
      @mattermattersmate4052 7 лет назад

      So the smart things hub is not the same as the Harmony hub?

    • @mattermattersmate4052
      @mattermattersmate4052 7 лет назад

      Ok I understand And I do yet apologise again I just have 1 more question do you need to ifttt to connect the amazon echo to harmony hub or just directly connect

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  7 лет назад

      hi! no.. you do not need IFTTT... you connect the harmony hub directly to the amazon echo through the echo harmony skills.

    I know you can control phillips hue, but have any of these home automation devices supported
    MiLight, LimitlessLED, or other 3rd party applications

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  8 лет назад

      well.. im not so sure about thise specific brands, but as long as they are eitherz-wave or zigbee, chances are they will work.
      i know GE lightbulbs work as well as sylvania, Osram, belkin.

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  7 лет назад

      smartthings supports different brands than philips, like wemo, sengled, cree, osram, lifx and eaton. those you mention are not listed, therefore im not sure if they are suppported event though they are wifi enabled lights.

    Hi, is it save to buy an smart outlet (such as a tplink smart plug) to turn on or off the tv instead of the harmony hub. This is because the smart plug is 30 dollars and the harmony a 100 and i dont have any other devices to pair with the harmony. But my questions is if it is save to turn on and off the tv that way. Does it get damaged over time? Because its being unplugged by forced

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  7 лет назад

      Omaigosh hi! Your tv wont get damaged for turning it on and off that way... And yes it is a cheaper way of doing it than with the harmony hub if turning on and off your tv is all you want. That is if you are still ok with using your remote control for doing everything else on your tv. If you dont have any other media devices you would want to control and you dont mind still using your physical remote controller for the tv, then yes you could use the tp link for turning it on and off and it would be safe.

      jesus gallardo i got it! Thank you for the answer!! I think ill try that cheaper way

    What device/switch are you using to turn on the t.v.? My Smartthings will arrive next week, and I have Alexa.

      @jesusgallardo762  8 лет назад

      hi, the device i am using to turn in the tv is the logitech harmony hub, check my other videos on how to integrate it to your smarthing hub and alexa! good luck and cheers!

    thanks for the video Jesus. when you turn on a Harmony activity using Alexa and Smarthings, do the other Harmony activities shut down? I have the Harmony now but it only runs one activity at a time.

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  7 лет назад

      sorry for the late reply.. i hadnt seen your comment until now. I think you might know by now but yes you are correct, you can only run one activity at a time, when you use an activity you can start another activity at that will become the "current" activity. if you turn the activity off, it will turn all your devices off... (even if they are from different activities) I wish that was different but that is how the system works.

      jesus gallardo Hello Jesus, I bought the Harmony Smart control. I can't seem to have it start/stop the Bose unit I have. My Bose model is the MC-1 just like the one on your integrating your Harmony to your Smart thing and Alexa. Do you have a training video on how to connect the harmony smart control to the Bose MC-1?

    It says that it will work on mine yet doesn’t turn on the tv. It’ll Turin it off but not on.

    will this also work with v1 of ST?

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  8 лет назад

      Unfortunately i think it doesnt. I think it only works with the new version, i remember that i had to make sure the one i bought was the new gen so that it would work with the echo.

    So alexa by itself does not connect to hue lights without smart things?? Is this right

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  7 лет назад

      no, that is not correct... Alexa doesnt need the ST hub to talk to the hue lights. alexa has its own native skills to talk to philips hue lights, wemo switches, nest thermostat.
      both the amazon echo and the ST hub can integrate with the philips hue lights but they do it independently.

      jesus gallardo wait so i probably sound dumb here but if i buy a philips hue bulb and amazon echo i dont need a hub?

    • @jesusgallardo762
      @jesusgallardo762  7 лет назад

      Hi EpicBlock.. you dont sound dumb... if you buy a philips hue bulb you will need to buy the philips hue hub. you need the hub in order to have the bulbs working as they are intended. the way you should start is with a philips hue starter kit, which comes with the hub and three lightbulbs.. either three colour bulbs or just white light. once you have your hub and lights set up and going then you can link them to your amazon echo and control your lights with Alexa.
