lol.. hahahahhaa these responses made my day.. lol very funny stuff.. lol Alexa doesnt unlock doors or open garages. It's a security limitation, just for that reason. Someone can actually yell unlock door... lol.. Alexa does not have voice recognition. But the security here is very good. Cameras everywhere with no hidden spots. Facial recognition, immediate text on forced entry. and immediate calls to police station if forced entry... The camera recognizes screams and glass break and reacts when those things happen.
Actually with all the "smart" front door locks coming out these days I could easily see someone just yelling "alexa open the front door" and getting in.
Are you laughing because he Robbert Van der Eem is correct or he is not correct? By the way I love your house and your home automation. How much did it cost in all to get the whole system up and running? I have 3 Dots and 3 WeMo switches controlling 3 separate lamps. I want to do more but I don't want to go overboard with spending. That is why I ask.
That's really cool. I hope Amazon can make Alexa a little more user friendly such as "Hey Alexa, can you turn on my bedroom lights please." instead of the cut and dry commands. Great job getting everything all wired up!
Hi What are you doing here hey what is your name surprise toy collector door no that’s it what are you saying hey Alexa can you turn the bedroom light please great job
Robbers: Alexa, Open the doors and turn off all lights Alexa: Okay, I am built to help everyone, mission help robber. Opening doors, doors opened. Turning off light, lights turned off Robbers: Plugs the alexa off after coming in. Rodrick: Alexa! Alexa!! Alexa respond turn on the lightssssssss Robbers: having Nightvision Rodrick: R.I.P
I'm from the UK and have a very similar setup here. I'm using Amazon Echo in living room. Echo Dots connected to UE Boom 2 bluetooth speakers in Kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms as speakers are portable and waterproof. I'm using LightwaveRF plug sockets, light switches and door sensors in all rooms controlled by Alexa. Table lamps are switched by LightwaveRF mobile plug sockets and mood lighting by LifX Colour 1000 bulbs. Electronic locks by Yale Keyfree and Keyless Remote Control Entry. Washing Machine, Tumble Drier, Kettle, Microwave, Crock Pot Oven all controlled via Alexa through LightwaveRF wall sockets. Nest thermostat linked to Nest Protect smoke alarms all connected also. Samsung Gear S3 watch has Nest Control on it, but no Alexa control yet from watch, which is a shame. Demo's similar to yours.
Hi! That's a great great setup! I wish I could also make a similar setup in my house someday. Do you have a manual or step by step guide how to enable my house like yours ?
This is dope. Do you have one Harmony Hub to control the entire house or do you have multiple hubs/IR blasters to control TVs in different rooms/floors?
you can get that look with a fiber optics kit, drill small holes in ceiling all over a fiber optic rod goes in each hole and a controller attached to the bundle, they can twinkle, make star patterns, animate the lights, really cool stuff..
Do you have a list of items that you used? This would be a tremendous help for me I just got Alexa for my brother who was in a wheelchair and for him to give her do what you are showing here would be tremendous any list would be greatly appreciated
I used the Wink Hub, ALexa Amazon, Lutron switches for multiple lights. You can get the lutron switches from Home depot. Hue light bulbs, and GE smart bulbs
Does the Echo require a Hub for smart lightbulbs? The Hue ones require a Hub I believe to connect to but other brands seemingly just allow the bulb to connect directly to the Echo
Nice, I am planning on doing this to my new room… I already order those smart lights bulbs that are compatible with alexa, I order a galaxy projector that is compatible with alexa, I order led lights that are compatible with Alexa, and more 🐸
Congrats! I'm planing to start using Alexa with the termostat, 3 infrared controllers, and 10 switches. Can you describe what type of devices are you using?? Thank's!
Haha he triggered my Alexa ! Even though I don't have these things yet. So basically Alexa said I didn't have it , thanks for reminding Alexa but one day I will!
I like how you have the house totally hooked up to Alexa, I'm working on getting my place setup like that, I just got the Alexa Echo and the harmony smart remote, can you tell me what else I would need to control Alexa through out the house?
hey Roddick I have two questions if you don't mind. first what brand are the lights you use. 2nd did you change echos setting to be able to give command after command with out saying the wake word everytime
Wow! This is cool, i will do this to my house, thanks for sharing. But just one question, what if you are the only one that like to use the voice control and everyone else in your family like to use a traditional switch, so you have to replace to smart switch?
Robbers: Alexa, Open the doors and turn off all lights Alexa: Okay, I am built to help everyone, mission help robber. Opening doors, doors opened. Turning off light, lights turned off Robbers: Plugs the alexa off after coming in. Rodrick: Alexa! Alexa!! Alexa respond turn on the lightssssssss Robbers: having Nightvision Rodrick: R.I.P
Its actually not as hard as it seems. There are a few things that you need to get. You need to get the WINK hub @ www.wink.com and of course the amazon Alexa from amazon. then you need to get wireless light bulbs or switches that connect to the wink.
thanks bro... I used the Hue bulbs or Hue LEDs.. they were expensive at the time but they have other companies that do the same thing a bit cheaper. There is a company called CREE.. and another company called OSRAM/Lightyfy
Thank you for the valued information I will try this stuff, I must say though i'm a little jelly of you but I am not like other people and will insult you, you obviously worked hard for all of this and i'm very impressed. Now when are you gonna invite me over? i'll supply the liquor lol
Sounds good bro, lol btw my bad for spelling your name earlier I was using my cell gotta love spell checking I've subscribed to your channel and will check out more vid's you upload
"Alexa, play Baby Shark." "Okie." "Haha, fun times. Alexa, what's my account balance?" "Okie. All the money went into this damn house. More so the lightbulbs." "Alexa. Shit." "Sorry, I didn't get that."
Which switch did you use for the fan? I want to be able to turn the fan and the light on the fan on individually like that and I have a fan similar to yours.
How did you do the living room lights/fan separate? I have a ceiling fan in my room and it's remote controlled but I want to connect it to Alexa like yours is. How'd you do it? Cool house dude
I brought the wink relay www.wink,.com It looks like an iphone built into your wall. You can replace your fan and light switch and connect it to Alexa thru the wink
Rodrick. I just brought a house and want it turn it into a smart home like yours. Please walk me through this dude. If you an point me in the right direction on getting dimmers etc for my house the work with the echo dot that would be a start. Also the house is 4K square ft. Would I need 2 dots or would one suffice?
Robber: Alexa help me rob this house?
Alexa: Okay, I'll cut off the lights
LOL
ken adams Yeah just like a Doberman Pinscher. They'll let you in, but they won't let you leave haha
ken adams just go outside on a loud speaker and say alexa unlock doors

Well rod I was uniformed and making a joke.
make a part 2, this was too dope!!
What if Alexa had a breakdown and started breaking everything.
1. She couldn't rebel against the programming, learn how computers work.
2. She is not physically capable of breaking anything.

BUT WHAT IF
i already did
You are living in my dream house my man 😯
Mine too. I love that media room. I keep saying one day if I ever get to build my own house. I am putting in a movie theater room like his.
When you said "Alexa, trigger lights off", my echo turned my lights off. HAHAHAHA
Punish it. Otherwise before long she will think she can do what she wants.

Haha that’s how Siri responds
The fact that that Alexa can hear him from that far💀
Where is the iron man suit though????
Its in the closet... lol
Man this must have taken ages to programme
and money. lol
You would be surprised how easy it actually is. The hardest part was probably screwing in light bulbs lul.
there is no programming needed, its simply having alot of money
MaximusJohal not entirely true. I actually have a small business where I set stuff like this up. It can be budget friendly
Point Blank that should earn you a lot since this cost null time to setup

Are you using z wave switches to dim lights? By the way, I like your clutter free home.
The lights are connected thru the Wink hub, which I believe is also WIFI. However, the door locks are Z-Wave...
Alexa should be called JARVIS
Kevin Romero Oviedo is
Nah, Alexa is dumb, Jarvis is intelligent af :D
I think alexa is better not dumb to me

I noticed your not saying the wake word "Alexa" for every command
How do you have her listen constantly?
Echo remote control?
EXACTLY... lol.. I had the remote control... that way I didnt have to yell at her from across the room.
+Rodrick Burke is the remote wifi? Or does is run out in a Bluetooth range
The remote is WIFI... You connect it with the AMAXON ALEXA app. Its plug and play .. pretty easy to sync up
+Rodrick Burke they should integrate it with smarts watches.
what kind of remote are you using ?
Your home is SO MODERN WITH THESE SMART HOME DEVICES
I am wondering why Alexa isn't falling asleep with all of this work she is doing. LOL
Hey, you've got a great place!

Woah where did you get those kitchen table lights?😍

Alex trust me it's not that fun
Barely affording to eat everyday isn't much fun either

HDMI port dumbass
ExlipseSubZer0Gamers He uses the TV as an external monitor to his mac.
Your house is life goals man lol
I don't think I could even remember half of those.
How do you have your fan connected btw? As others have said you have a beautiful home and awesome setup btw!
That table with the three Hue lights is pretty nice, where'd you get it? Are the lights a DIY project?
How did you create the night sky look in your media room? Interesting. Well done overall.
22jcrewjim I think it’s maybe holes in the ceiling and the light is above the ceiling if that makes sense
you can get that look with a fiber optics kit, drill small holes in ceiling all over a fiber optic rod goes in each hole and a controller attached to the bundle, they can twinkle, make star patterns, animate the lights, really cool stuff..
It is L.E.D lights you can get them at Home Depot
