Otherwise I really like the device and about accessories there is no upper traditional brand that offers an adaptor or headphones or even a case in the box.They all took iPhone path.The 30w adapter is not pricey.The camera hardware and software, the jack, the SD card slot, the BT codecs, the battery care is what I care.The user interface is limited in customization but it might change with android 14, I hope that the software and improvement updates and patches will be as many and with the same speed as Samsung to reflect the price and also the overall stability of the software should be in the same league as Samsung(but I really doubt that).This is a fantastic device but unlike Samsung and Iphone there are still some "if's" when it comes to important details.I am a Samsung user for 3 years now, I also had Huawei mate 20 pro, LG and most HTC's flagships from 2010 til the 2019 U12 and Samsung in my opinion with the beginning of 2019 is by far the most mature and stable android device but there is no soul or spark in it for me like it was with HTC and now with this Xperia 1 V.

I still use the first xperia 1. It's still functioning great. It's almost 4 years, my phone never got broke. My friend's phone is 2 years and already broke once. I use Xperia premium (forgot which version) still works great for 5 years until it was stolen 😢 Go for sony if you want long lasting
Sony is good for making other electronics like TV Audio systems and consoles but they are not focused for creating phones in market there is other brands that is specialized of creating smartphones like Apple Samsung and Huawei

I've always loved Sony, I've been using their phones since the dawn before the merger with Ericsson, the first model i had was the J7 and after the merger, the T68i, had all Xperia Z models (except the Compact models) and the last one I had was the XZ3. I've kept my Xperia XZ3 until the very end, sadly, Sony phones are not sold anymore in my country, waiting for the day they become available once again in my country

I'm quite tempted to get the Xperia 5 V once it comes out if it has the same good camera, but I just really hope they have longer OS software support than previous models. 4 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security patches should be the minimum. Preferably 5 years of major OS updates (though that's not common in the industry unfortunately). I don't want to commit to an expensive phone if the software is going to get outdated right away. I've had my current phone for 7 years now and maybe that's a bit on the extreme end, but 5 years is entirely reasonable.

I have a few questions: 1. So e early reviews shows the screen is not brighter when comparing to xperia 1 mark 4. It applies to both manual control and outdoor conditions. Can someone confirm it? Apple has 2000 nits max and sony seems very bad with it 600 bits max :/ 2. Is led (flashlight) stronger than in past? I am using it as a torch and previous xperias has very weak light. Again when I saw how strong iPhones led light is I was ashamed with my xperia. Did sony improve it in mark 5? These 2 factors are very important to me as I am about to decide on my next phone (newest xperia or switch to iPhone). 3. How about battery life? Xperia has more mAh (5000mAh) than iPhone pro max 14 (4300 mAh) but surprisingly iPhone lasts longer despite having bigger screen. Provably because it has much brighter screen so effect is that at the same level of brightness iPhone uses less energy. Also iPhone operates most of the time at higher resolution as ny xperia works at 1080p most of time. Again early reviews on battery life of mark 5 are not promising :( :( :( Please let me know.

Still have my Xperia 1 (gen1) working fine, as long as it works not gonna change so not for this one, maybe when the Xperia 1 6 comes out ill consider it, cant go wrong with the xperia 1 series
Wait what? Sony mobile department has got itself a marketing subdivision? Because this is a first ad that isn't cringy, in fact it's really well done! No PowerPoint slideshows, no MusicDJ soundtrack.. It's not over? Maybe they'll also get a software subdivision too? Because while hardware is excellent, the software is lacking - reused apps from 2013, no software updates (only OS update, with little optimization and 0 software upgrades, no camera issues will be fixed till next generation), barebones camera app (not the pro mode, but the pro mode can't do timelapses too for example, weak portrait, weird rgba sensor calibration, which you can't control, Pixels do the same without it, the nystagmic OIS that fails astrophotography when you do a 30s exposure on a steady floor, camera sometimes not saving photos, taking cool colored photo from hands but it's all motion-blurry, basic app not having features from pro apps, so you have to shoot HDR cinema project, auto-closing the camera after 30s that can't be turned off, middle finger to your face when the battery is at 5%, halos on indoor HDR photos.. that's my experience with 5 II..)
Sony, I love your smartphones, but it would be the best phone out there if you would make the bezels a little more thinner. Otherwise, the phone looks amazing!

Hey sony, your display is a 4k display but in the dxo mark its is a lot backward. I think sony has to work a little bit on the colours and display quality. You can introduce a 12 bit coloir science and you can also include a seperate 4 k ai processor for mobile version just like you give in sony tvs for upscaling low quality content to high quality. manual mode and selfie are also one of the major problems plz work on that field too.i really wanted sony display to be in dxo mark 1 hope sony would work well on their display😊

Sony brand always was my first phone, still blown out that sony still use the slate design which is so clean and simple since 2014 but improve it every year, 3.5 jack and micro sd slot still a thing

@SonyEuro Is it possible for you to add info about accessories used in the video, like the impressive looking grip/gimble(?) at 53-54secs in the video? I like the video and am considering V's as options to replace 2x original Xperia 1's on contract with Vodafone UK , but wanting option to use the handsets as advertised requires that additional info to assess costs of those extra accessories too.

For giving such a feature packed powerful phone but still having the key factors that other manufacturers are getting rid of for literally no reason! (Such as headphone jack, sd card slot, etc.), i hope you guys will keep those features always in your Phones unlike other copycats.
Right now, just loving the 1V, will keep buying Xperia phones only coz they're the best. Just loving it!!

I have a few questions:
1. So e early reviews shows the screen is not brighter when comparing to xperia 1 mark 4. It applies to both manual control and outdoor conditions. Can someone confirm it? Apple has 2000 nits max and sony seems very bad with it 600 bits max :/
2. Is led (flashlight) stronger than in past? I am using it as a torch and previous xperias has very weak light. Again when I saw how strong iPhones led light is I was ashamed with my xperia. Did sony improve it in mark 5?
These 2 factors are very important to me as I am about to decide on my next phone (newest xperia or switch to iPhone).
3. How about battery life? Xperia has more mAh (5000mAh) than iPhone pro max 14 (4300 mAh) but surprisingly iPhone lasts longer despite having bigger screen. Provably because it has much brighter screen so effect is that at the same level of brightness iPhone uses less energy. Also iPhone operates most of the time at higher resolution as ny xperia works at 1080p most of time. Again early reviews on battery life of mark 5 are not promising :( :( :(

Because this is a first ad that isn't cringy, in fact it's really well done! No PowerPoint slideshows, no MusicDJ soundtrack..
It's not over? Maybe they'll also get a software subdivision too? Because while hardware is excellent, the software is lacking - reused apps from 2013, no software updates (only OS update, with little optimization and 0 software upgrades, no camera issues will be fixed till next generation), barebones camera app (not the pro mode, but the pro mode can't do timelapses too for example, weak portrait, weird rgba sensor calibration, which you can't control, Pixels do the same without it, the nystagmic OIS that fails astrophotography when you do a 30s exposure on a steady floor, camera sometimes not saving photos, taking cool colored photo from hands but it's all motion-blurry, basic app not having features from pro apps, so you have to shoot HDR cinema project, auto-closing the camera after 30s that can't be turned off, middle finger to your face when the battery is at 5%, halos on indoor HDR photos.. that's my experience with 5 II..)
Sony, I love your smartphones, but it would be the best phone out there if you would make the bezels a little more thinner. Otherwise, the phone looks amazing!

Please create an Xperia with a similar design like XZ3 and make it a bit boxy, I always go to samsung because of that design or similar to Note Series, but if youll make 1 in the future, definitely I will be going back to SONY. Hey sony, your display is a 4k display but in the dxo mark its is a lot backward. I think sony has to work a little bit on the colours and display quality. You can introduce a 12 bit coloir science and you can also include a seperate 4 k ai processor for mobile version just like you give in sony tvs for upscaling low quality content to high quality. manual mode and selfie are also one of the major problems plz work on that field too.i really wanted sony display to be in dxo mark 1 hope sony would work well on their display😊
