Well to be fair the Korean school isn’t a typical public school in Korea
Ha Pham yeah but they could’ve made it equal by picking a Korean arts school
I think they tried but the person forgot and slept in
yeah as someone who’s gone to a public school and an arts school it’s like two completely different things

The Korean is private too. It’s fair
probably, as it is an art school as well.
im pretty sure she just drove to a pizza place for lunch
She went to resterant, seems normal too me

It's the same here in Germany, we get allowance from our teacher and go there for one or two hours with a heating/cooling pack sometimes even a blanket and pillow so it's more comfortable (not all schools are like this though haha)
Pls shut up, Asian high schools are literal hell
i feel like in korea the schools are more organized than american schools.. just based on my experience
Well, in Asia, parents are very strict about school grades. MOST (not all) Asians, like myself are focused on school because we are raised to think that grades are the most important thing in the world. So in Korea, that’s most likely what the school system or government thinks.
@@atrue2059 I don’t think it’s that strict and it’s only a little bit harder than America, but I think just. Anywhere, it all goes down to how old you are

I'd like a video comparing students from regular public high schools. These two both seem to be from special situation-type schools (a boarding school, and an art school in an office building?) so it's pretty different from the average student's daily life in each country.
@@aliahhidalgo6875 I live in Korea and I haven't met anyone here yet who went to a boarding school. Every country has them but it's not the average student's experience. Regular public schools are 5 days a week.
Watching this makes me feel depressed about my school bcz,
1)Leaving school grounds is strictly prohibited
2)School starts at 7:30Am. (Be late repeatedly, you're suspended)
3)Must wear uniform down to the ribbon. (Hem of the skirt or dress can't be above the knee, aka cant be short , can't have long nails and always plait your hair into two)
4)No dating
5)No electronic devices allowed
6)No free school food. Have to buy buns and other disgusting overpriced food from the canteen.
7)And no speaking in your native language, only english (I went to a private school)

It would be better if they chose a public school. American private schools seem almost just as organized as typical high schools in East Asia.. so a lot of people probably think american high schools are somewhat organized
bonk they are not?
Aren't art schools in the states public? Like, in my country in every high school you have a profile (40-45% of all) or a profession (55-60% of all).
that isn't a typical in korea though, she goes to a foreign language school

I feel that the students in Korea are more responsible, because they are on time and respectful to others and teachers. This is interesting to me and I think America needs to step up a bit. No hate ( I also live in America )
man i feel like studying in asia is way harder than america and whatnot
Oh hell it is , even tho I’m not in Asia but I have an Asian mum and I think my studying is hard. Ha!
(Not being rude)
Ya it's like very hard and busy, plus sometimes there is competition of who Studies better and all
Many students in asia commit s//cide because of the peer pressure parents put on their school work
I mean if u let the pressure take over to you. I'm very laid back and I get average slightly average grades idc anymore I use to study alot but now not alot, you an survive like this
Even though the Korean school routine is draining,I like how they're giving appropriate and good meals and including exercise in the routine.
She got a heating pad and probably some anti-acid while all we get is a bag of melty ice.
They don't even give us that anymore
Lol I'm in the USA and I get a heating pad too
Because in Korea, everything students need to do is study and study, they don't even don't have to do the chores as their parents wants them only focus on studying, that is why you will be provided mostly with everything, like you see heat packs or vitamins drinks ...
Nurses in South Korea: Here I will give you medication to feel better!

Highschool grade are really important and getting in high ranking university. They offers better jobs, wages, and social posions.

Both these schools in the video dont accurately depict traditional high schools in their respective countries

AznYinツ freal they really fucked up with the schools like couldnt they just pick normal public school instead of boarding and art school?!??
It’s actually extremely normal to go to boarding school in Korea, especially cus the land is so small. Kids homes are normally just 45-1:00 away from school so they’re not that far away. The boarding school experience is actually v good rep of what an average korean school is like, just minus sleeping at school. I’d say though, that the girl in the video gets a surprising amount of sleep for a korean senior... for reference, though I don’t go to a korean school, i live in korea and a lot of my friends go to korean schools!

East Asian schools (China, South Korea, Japan) are like these because their governments want to produce a generation that could compete with Western (esp USA) countries. This is a looot of pressure considering that when you try to compare them against each other, you have USA which has had centuries of stable education and who basically dictate the economic superstructure, while you have East Asian countries who have only recently (atleast in historical timeline) become highly developed and globally competitive. And so these countries are trying to shove centuries worth of competence, "knowledge", and skills to their youth in order to compete globally....and compete in a market dictated by the West (atleast for now).
'School in the US was hard enough..' buahahahaha
Viper 47 lol i had to have a test to get into highschool too and yeah in comparison the SAT was a breeze
yeah choosing a student who goes to an art school isn’t a proper distinction of what a normal american school is like. for example, at my public school, you can just leave the campus and drive off to get pizza for lunch. classes are also a lot more rigorous since we have pre requisites to get our diploma.
in india too it's 50 mins and no break in between. we don't change classrooms (unless it's like lab work or something). the teacher comes to the class. there are teachers who continue to teach even after the bell has rang and you will see the teacher for the next class waiting outside the classroom. so as soon as the first teacher goes out the next one comes in. oh and we have two breaks (a short one and a big one). the big one is actually the lunch break. my schools starts at 8 and we get a short break at 10 o' clock for 5 mins and the lunch break at 12 for 25 mins.
in the turkey there is 40-10, we see 40 mins of class and 10 mins of break, but we dont change our classrooms too
Same in France
In germany it's 90 min with no break, following with a 15 min break

I am Korean. Almost all high school seniors stay at school from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and study at the academy until 11 p.m. Then they go to the reading room, study until dawn, come home, sleep for 2 or 3 hours, and go back to school. If you have any questions, ask me!
any studying tips please answer
Please recommend me a math workbook
@Lisa-Ling yes. because korean night is very safety, also every children commonly get home after 10p.m(academy should end up at 10p.m.)so 10p.m. is not late time for korean children and there perents.

@Lisa-Ling In Korea, it is very safe to drink at dawn, sleep on the street, or walk on the street.
Parents don't really worry, but most Korean high school students end at 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., so they don't really care. Students study late because they go to college well only when they get first place.
Is it just me or the korean girl filmed better than the film student??????
Trusfrated 8 likes and 8 subs wow~
Amy!! 💜
jennifer park oh ok
jennifer park
so does the film student tho
jennifer park
skhsksjs the other girl’s youtube channel was mentioned in the beginning of the video !
Ok, but neither of them have a typical school life... A Korean Boarding school and an art school in an office building in LA. Why not find more typical students in public school?
I love that darcie said " if you wanna stufy in korea, please think about your decisions" i felt that💀 i literally get bored after just 1 class😭
Bro why does the food in Korea look so good!
Ikr
This video was literally made a year ago and the comments are like 25 minutes ago lmao
you guys couldn't find a high school girl that goes to a normal public school. All you had was an arts school in an office building?
RIGHT? as soon as she said "i go to an art school" i was immediately like, ah so she's a horrible example of the average day of a high schooler.
Koreans students: study, 15 hours
Me: only 5-6 hours in a day 🙄
Meanwhile me: -0 secs
Hein what do you mean 15h they start at 6: 30 and finish at 4: 30 that's 8 hours just like my school system
@@Lykinote but without it, they also go in English admission and Math admission, also they cover their self study at admission library
So absolutely they study for 13-15h
THEY. GET. DONUTS? AND MAC AND CHEESE? why I be sitting here with yellow oranges at my school lol.
I’m not kidding…the oranges were for real yellow
Korean schools get tons of government support, so all the food is free and you get most of the time korean balanced meal.
Mac and cheese? I thought it said macaroons
In my school we always have to bring our own lunch so idk
anyone else think it’s strange they picked such atypical schools for the video ?
Yeah, I was expecting like public school type of schools, like at least a stereotypical american highschool
Not really strange. If they picked regular boring schools they wouldn't get any views. All media is structured like this. Its a lot more common than you think.
My school is garbage
I didn’t know Darcie before this but I liked her representation and filming of her day a LOT better
them: having good lunches, study rooms etc.
me, a slavic student: awful lunch, school barely standing
At my school the flush chain in bathroom was made out of jumping rope
