This is actually true my school decided to mix the star section students with others and my classmates from last year started studying and reviewing for tests too and the class average goes up for each class
@@tonie_0 still feel sad for them, they've been studying for so long. Pretty sure robbed them of childhood. My country is similar although to a lesser extreme.
My wife went to the school in the video. According to her, it was indeed very intense, but it's also her most cherished memory. She made many life-long friends there. I've personally met many of her high-school friends and I can attest to the fact that they are all very smart and happy.
@@octobersky9639 They do more innovation on teching. Some of them focus on English or Math or PE or Art. I believe Chengdu Experimental Foreign Languages School is more on Foreign language tech. Generally speaking, they are the best school in around.
How would a person from a foreign country become familiar of the language that is spoken at the school? What would the school do in that context for the student?🤔
As a Chinese student who has completely experienced this kind of high school life, I would like to say that although this learning mode can indeed enable students to obtain high scores in a short period of time, we have given up a lot, such as practical ability, communicative ability, physical fitness level... We are constantly writing homework every day, just for an exam. Now that I am in college, I found that many aspects of my life are very bad. For example, I am not good at communicating with people, and I cannot play various sports and musical instruments. This learning mode wastes my time to learn social knowledge healthily, and I hate it.
Yes it's true! I've been through it personally. My high school was not as good as the one in the video but it was run in the exact style. It's not scary but actually enjoyable. I enjoyed studying a lot, was very motivated and did fairly well with school at that time. Then I went to a western university and have become the laziest bum ever😞
From my experience, it's definitely great. But only if you're motivated. You're keeping in step with excellently performing people, so it encourages you to do better. There's a competitive edge to it and it makes you want to be the best version of yourself. But the thing is, once you start burning yourself out, it becomes an actual hellhole. Being surrounded in such an environment can actually discourage you if you so much as lag behind. Sometimes I couldn't help but feel like I didn't deserve to be there because everyone was doing so well and I wasn't. It's almost isolating. If you do go to a school like this, I wish you luck!
Meanwhile what went down in my highschool: -Students slept in class. -The main focus was to prank teachers in creative ways. -Whole class copied homework from 1 student. -Students cheated on tests. -Students made fun of the ones that didn't do anything from the above.
Whenever I feel arrogant I always go study together with the Smart kids so I'll feel stupid, and when I feel stupid, I'll be like "I gotta step up my game, I need to be like them", and then I start working hard.
Personally, as an Asian student, this schedule is normal for us, even back then when I was in secondary school (grade 6-9) we spent 9 hours per day at school after that is 2-3 hours extra class and the rest of the day is for homework. The teacher always takes break time, PE, or any other kinds of creative subjects (arts, music) for main subjects (literature, math, English). When you are used to it, it is not that stressful and tiring. But now, when I have gone abroad and currently studying in an international school, I realized that’s too much
@@vexxo7998 Actually schools helps you reach and develop your skills in anything which includes the skills you need for your future aka your dreams.. though it really depends on ppl if they want to study hard like these guys or not.. Don't blame the school, blame the ppl who just want you to be educated pff
@@anneliessefortich4294 Not everyone is academically minded. Some people are better at vocational subjects/careers. This pressure is damaging these kids.
@@MrxxVENUSxx For me as a student I 100% agree with you. However, it really depends on the situation of a student, like for example if their parent/s forced them to attend school and be a smart kid blablabla.. and their teachers wanted him/her to aim a high grade blablabla.. but what im trying to say is to him is that schools don't destroy dreams or whatsoever, instead he should've blamed it on to those who wanted to control his/her future. And of course if you have problems with school and also with family matters you can always call for help from the guidance of your school or from your loved ones such as friends.
@@anneliessefortich4294 I agree with you in some parts, but I think that it actually depends on a country's educational sistem and social pressure, and since we spend a lot of time in school on our most fragile life stage (youth), it can damage us a lot.
It’s just part of it, middle school students also have 9 classes a day, 45 minutes for each class, and they do have the high school entrance exam, how ironic that we studied so hard from middle school to just get in a better high school to study another three years to get in a better university, and from university to finding a great job...... it’s like a terrible loop that never end
@@publicqrt my cousins are from china. here's their schedule: 7 to 12 morning class. come back home for lunch break and rest till 3pm or 4pm. go back school until 8pm. in between 12 to 3 after lunch they'll be prepping for afternoon class and homework. after school study until 2am. its bad.
As a former student in China I think that the schedule in china is really intense. PE usually got taken out by core classes (Chinese, Math, English). A Hell of a lot of homework is waiting for you after school. Sometimes students are forced to stay at school for some extra learning with the teach which can last until 6:00PM. It’s a nightmare but I managed to survive
I get the temptation of that, when you have the natural ability to handle a course without intense study why study for something you have little use for. However, the school system (at least in America) is built to build discipline more then anything so avoiding doing all the work destroys what little purpose there is in public school these days. It varies per school of course but work hard, even if you don't feel you have to.
Yeah just like Darwinism who can’t endure the pressure have no chance to show up in a video like this, most of my friends who went to middle school or high school in China have different level of mental problems
@@chaosNinja790 in my experience working there, this kind of studying means they know lots of random facts but they don't have any real practical knowledge until they get to their twenties. The boarding school kids learn some level of self sufficiency but those that live at home only need to study. Very little social life and no chores. So idk how i feel about it.
@@OfficiallySarabi true same here in India, when I was studying I was a bored and disinterested student. But for the toppers, this was an opportunity. Wish future students see this as an opportunity and work hard upon it. YOLO so give it all.
I am an Indian student preparing for boards I study 12 hrs (including school and tution)each day and I was little nervous, how I am going to make my studies more enjoyable and passionable but after watching this video I feel confident. So thank you alot❤
I personally don't think that would be that good of an idea Students in Asia normally don't have the right or ability to express themselves at school (coming from someone who spent their whole childhood in japan and Japanese schools) So things like makeup, hair dye , outfit or just uniform but with a little bit of accessories aren't allowed at all and it often makes students miserable (speaking from experience)
Your not gonna like it if your school life's like this. It's dull, intense and stressful. The amount of pressure is unimaginable. I know how it's like cause I was once in that kind of school.
Not all the students study hard like this. Many will either enter job market or professional training schools. Keeping university entrance hard ensure only the most hard working and determined kids enter who appreciate the opportunity and become powerful graduates.
the vast majority are taught since they were like 4 that getting a good score on the gaokao and going to a top university is the only way to a good life and that their lives are over if they dont achieve it.
I do admire their focus and disciple but I can’t help feel there is something wrong about this. This is amazing they are studying hard for their success but something about it just speaks to me the wrong way and I can’t pinpoint it.
This is what how Asians students do for the rest of their "school life" from primary school to university (maybe after university also). These kind of things not only happened in China but also in Korea, Japan, Vietnam, India, Thailand, etc. If you are taught that "study is for a good future life of your family" since the beginning, this will be how you study at your classes.
I can't help wonder if they're really depressed. Maybe they're just used to it, but I can't imagine anyone getting accustomed to something as intense as this. My heart goes out to all the students who aren't as academically inclined, as this time in life must be really lonely for them. These kids are extraordinary
Depression comes from having too much free time and doing nothing. These kids are the opposite, no free time and constantly doing. Chinese are communal, receive alot of support from family, community and government. Their outlook seems hopeful and exciting.
@@amac5979 Dont talk about stuff you know nothing about. Depression comes in many forms. Constant pressure from society with no time for leisure will take a toll on anyone. And lets not forget about the people that dont get in to the "best" schools. Do you not think theyll be heavily impacted by the failure?
You both have a point. Too much free time and no meaning in life than depression symptoms are likely. The same is true for having intense work in which you don’t find meaning .
Lol you will get scolded by teachers and possibly endure a series of parents meeting if you 早恋(Zao lian), which means falling in love with someone before University. I KNOW. DONt ASK
I'm actually gonna use this video as motivation for me to study hard. I tend to be lazy, scrolling aimlessly around RUclips because I'm bored but now I benefit of it, I wish everyone the best of luck on their studies, I have hope in you, you will go to university and have a successful life afterwards 🥰💪
Well obviously the intensity of students shown in this video is really not suitable for a lot of people ,manage wisely your time .Except study, you can try to workout to balance your development of body.
I admire the fact that they're organized and following a schedule which helps them to have control over their time. This single practice will help them in the future too.

@@DFNR nono you read it in the wrong context, this video being about getting into studying and getting into a good university, he said "you become a slave to your work" since now all you do is study for your entire life.
Honestly, when you think its hard, they are used to it. They don't have time for mental breakdowns or how their life sucks, they motivate themselves to study or forces themselves to like studying.
This academics & scedules is stressful but it actually inspires me how much they give efforts. Senior year is like *Do or Die* for them because of Gaokao. I always wanted to study in china public high school but never possible being an non native + high school is so tough. Well wishing good luck to all students. 🍀💗
Well they might had some group projects during their 10th/11th grades, but when it comes to the last year of their high school just like in the video, all they need to do is concentrate on themselves.
I told you why the Chinese school with no group projects.I am a Chinese college student, when I study in high school,my teacher told us:“you can join in the group project, but the others students studenting when you are active. They have more time to study. ”Do you know?If you grow 1 score, you can win the thousands of people....But,Chinese college and university has group and goup projects.
I have a friend who can do insane problems right from his head. He won multiple awards, and even got to top rank schools. He still taught me one thing, that you can't really be happy for what you have but what you gained.
This seems so chill honestly, I would love to have experienced this kind of studying life! It would probably be a lot easier to make friends too when you constantly around and working together with people sharing your goal.
As a former jee aspirant(right after gaokao in terms of difficulty) trust me it gets toxic and it becomes a rat race u can't get out u can't quit...the only way out is suicide
As a Taiwanese who often observes Chinese society, your message seems really ironic. For example, some people blowing air conditioners on the sofa said to farmers who live in straw huts and have health problems due to heavy labor: "You can contact nature and move your body every day. Although you are tired, you are very happy." These students spend 16 hours a day. They study for hours, but they may only sleep 4 hours, and are prohibited from using the Internet. Clothing must fully comply with school regulations. Most schools even require girls to have hairstyles above the ears (the teacher may force you to cut off your bangs) ). In fact, a large number of students die suddenly or are left with physical and mental problems every year. I have seen many Chinese messages, all of which mentioned that a student died on campus. He may have jumped from a building or failed to take a rest, but the school and senior officials suppressed the news. Even students from the same school, almost no one knew who died. Their death is like a stone thrown into the sea, without even a ripple. A superficial understanding creates a ridiculous longing, I can only say this.
I'm Brazilian, I'm 14 years old, and I study at an excellent school, the Colégio Adventista de Taboão da Serra. The discipline of these students shown in the videos is jaw-dropping.

I once asked my teacher who went through GaoKao some 10 years ago. She said it was the best time of her life, the only period of time where she had no other thoughts, just focusing all herself onto this one thing.
I'm surprised she would say it was the best time of her life. I would think she would've been extremely stressed, considering the 高考 is literally the test that decides the rest of your life. I would hate that ☹️
@@JP-rn5ob it's just a matter of person. Most people will commit themselves to things if maintained within such a routine they have. did it work? Cause then imma start using this tactic too
I feel like if I surrounded myself in this type of environment, then I’d actually do well in school-
i agree! i would love to study in that kind of environment!
*Motivated*
If you do go to a school like this, I wish you luck!
well yeah if you surround yourself with hardworking people you’ll try to be like them

I have seen many Chinese messages, all of which mentioned that a student died on campus. Try to be motivated
Here some motivating words
If you study now you will be able to have money to buy your favorite food
If you study your parents will be proud of you
Study hard you can do this
Try to memorize hard words first by playing a game
If you memorize it in 1 minute you can take a bit from any sweet or chip

The girl has such a positive attitude. It's inspiring to see young people working so hard yet taking it all in stride. Very impressive.
Honestly, based on the few comments I read under the video; I can say that I actually don't really support the fact that the students' whole future may depend on them getting accepted into one of these 2 big universities, but I definitely get motivated to raise my marks currently from 88.79% as a sophomore student who's in a strict high school right now. I study in the highest ranked school in my country and I have ADHD, it is very difficult and I have so many mental breakdowns because of stress (I even noticed a few white hairs on my head lol) but I’m passing all of my lessons. In the exams of the last year of high school here it’s possible to get 101% or sometimes ever higher depending on the intelligence of the student but it’s really rare.
