When I went to Korea for a week, I literally ate and ate and ate but lost more weight than when I diet at my home country. Other than “bc in Korea you walk everywhere” (still is a big factor) what I observed makes them slim even when eating a lot is.. 1. Almost everything is spicy or there are spicy sidedishes like kimchi (spicy ingredients fastens metabolism and helps burn calories) 2. They barely deep fry (they mostly have soups, grilled, steam and sauced meals) 3. They don’t eat much sweets - I rarely saw anyone eat cakes and chocolates there. Instead, their snack/dessert choices are kimbab, ricecakes, soy bean based desserts, etc.

as an American, he’s a mood for eating bagels for breakfast almost everyday, but as an asian, she’s a mood for eating rice with so many side dishes everyday😂💗
Korean food has many side dishes. If you go to a Korean restaurant you would usually have around 10 side dishes, but all of them are pretty small, only a couple bites.
Biggest difference is that in the Korean family, the parents cook the majority of the food. In the US the parents don’t cook as often so the kids live off junk food...
And not in a way that I’m judging the parents, moreso I just feel bad he’s gotta fend for himself and want other commenters to understand he’s quite young.
Is no one going to point out the fact that she had almost every meal prepared or taken care of by her parents but the guy doesn’t seem to have any parents?!?
For many Americans our parents don't take care of us and always cook for us at this age. I am a freshman right now and my parent is already getting me to make my own dinner. I imagine in a couple years when I am a senior like him and am able to drive I will make all my meals myself.
Well.. that's a common life for korean. We actually make side dishes a lot and keep it in refr and eat those for few weeks which makes more efficient meal. Therefore, mom only cook 1 or 2 main dish for each day and take our side dishes from refr. Although people live alone in Korea usually order delievery or eat outside pretty many times since it's pretty much cheaper than US. Also, Korean parents usually brings side dishes for their children who live alone.
I dislike eating near my mother, she always talk about my posture and the way I'm eating or starts talking about the noises I do eating uuuurgh that's pretty annoying I prefer eat alone lmao🤡✋
Dustin was doing this during finals week 💀 he was probably stressed & had to study a lot so that’s why he resorted to unhealthy meals. Not everyone has time to cook everyday.

Actually in a way yeah, i went to CoCo curry to go eat curry rice with my bf’s family, they’re korean. So my bf said that x12 level spice wasn’t that spicy, so I chose that level of spice thinking it wasn’t spicy. While the rest of his family got the highest one there is, x24 level spice. I can handle a jalapeño, but that curry was hella spicy. I blew through 3 glasses of water. Never again with that level of spice

Then I'm just weird cause I don't find any of those things weird or exotic it also can be that I'm from central Europe and we also eat like chicken hearts, livers, lungs or basicly what ever from the animal 😂so yeah

we don't eat that much, most of the food she eats at home is side dishes. when we prepare sides we don't eat all of it, we eat a little and store the rest for next meal. so when she eats kimchi and other sides it's all the same dish for the whole week.
we don’t eat a lot we just have a variety of side dish plus we rarely eat alone (at least for me) so when you are showing the table it looks like a lot because you know you + family and yea :)
We don’t eat that much( okie sometimes we do) but it’s more side dishes than there is of the actual meal so it seems like we eat a lot I haven’t eaten like that in a while so I can’t say more than that lmao
i know all of you think that Dustin lives alone because of his simple food, well fyi, 1) he lives with his parents 2) his family owns a restaurant. so yeah
so, u made that look way worse. but actually, as u can see in the video he was independent -prepared his meal and all AND this was filmed during his finals. y'all dont realize that? ppl 🤦
The girl's mom cooks for her and in Korea there are so many food carts on your walk back to your apartment while the guy had to prepare most of his meals on his own 😥
Since I was 12 I started to cook for my mum cause she just has no skill in it and the problem is that she is from turkey were parents usually cook like gods. Everyone my aunts my grandma really everyone can cook except of my mum. 😂😂
I feel bad for Dustin. Darci’s food is always so good and she always eats with someone. Edit: Thankyou for explaining and if you are wondering I am Australian
As an American I can tell you, most parents work long hours and don’t have the time to cook every meal for their kids. A lot of teens also become independent and rely on themselves to eat since there’s no other choice.
As a Korean I can tell you. We eat dinner with family for our relationship. Because we don't have time to be with family in the daytime. Most of parents work and most of childs study in the daytime. So we eat dinner together and spend time together. And my family dosen't eat breakfast together because we are busy in the morning.
And in Korea, we have perspective that bread, cereal, pancake, pizza, hamburger is unhealthy and junkfood. So we eat them as a snack. But young generations eat them as a meal too. But parents don't want us to eat them because they are actually unhealthy.
Why is the American always have dinner alone, I’m pretty sure he’s still living at home so like is it normal in the US to not have family dinner? I’m Asian and it’s like an unwritten law here to eat meals, especially dinner, together with the fam.
Jackie L he could be moved out but it also varies household to household some families demand dinner together while others are more or less just straight up the type to let you eat dinner in your room if you are a goblin
I love how everyone in the comments is like "where are his parents? Does his parents not cook for him? Is it normal to eat alone?" 😂😂 I mean kinda yeah, I ate alone in my room most of the time and I just kinda whipped up whatever was in the kitchen to eat. At least for me my mom was always tired after work and so it was hard for her to make dinner so we call those night, fend for yourself nights.
Darcie: eating whole put together food and having a good healthy life Dustine: *”Having leftover which was already a small amount of food when he bought it”* How do you eat so less?
Really and truly most students in America skip breakfast and often lunch if we can’t eat at home or somewhere outside of school. Eating is just not something that we do as often, and eating alone is very common as well! I personally eat alone for every meal.
@nobita nobi He did mention it's finals week so he must be pretty busy and doesn't have as much time to cook. I doubt that's how he eats normally, he'd pass out from malnutrition or suffer from it at least a little.
Food in America usually has a lot more calories bc like none of the food here is natural or good for u in general. even the fruits and vegetables have preservatives.
Plus that's actually a designated ramen pot so that's not just a random pot she found lying around the house fun fact some people use the lid as a plate to put the noodles on so you can cool it down if it's too hot before you eat
pitchblacksoul 08 the fact that Darci can eat out so much is the PRIVILEGE of living with your parents. I myself did not realize it until I moved away for awhile and money became such a problem that eating out was considered a treat 😭

The way Darcie happily claps her hands after eating something is so wholesome and adorable.

J W there was a vid about American student vs Korean and the American was like in some weird art school in a office building so I’m just saying that I relate closer to this one

One thing I definitely learned from this video is Koreans eat a lot like a LOT
But it’s smaller portions (except for the street food bit lol)
and they're so skinny wtf
we don't eat that much, most of the food she eats at home is side dishes. when we prepare sides we don't eat all of it, we eat a little and store the rest for next meal. so when she eats kimchi and other sides it's all the same dish for the whole week.
we don’t eat a lot we just have a variety of side dish plus we rarely eat alone (at least for me) so when you are showing the table it looks like a lot because you know you + family and yea :)
We don’t eat that much( okie sometimes we do) but it’s more side dishes than there is of the actual meal so it seems like we eat a lot I haven’t eaten like that in a while so I can’t say more than that lmao

Thankyou for explaining and if you are wondering I am Australian
As an American I can tell you, most parents work long hours and don’t have the time to cook every meal for their kids. A lot of teens also become independent and rely on themselves to eat since there’s no other choice.
As a Korean I can tell you. We eat dinner with family for our relationship. Because we don't have time to be with family in the daytime. Most of parents work and most of childs study in the daytime. So we eat dinner together and spend time together. And my family dosen't eat breakfast together because we are busy in the morning.
her food looks disgusting
And in Korea, we have perspective that bread, cereal, pancake, pizza, hamburger is unhealthy and junkfood. So we eat them as a snack. But young generations eat them as a meal too. But parents don't want us to eat them because they are actually unhealthy.
Eating is very much a social activity in Korea whereas in the US it's not.

Why is the American always have dinner alone, I’m pretty sure he’s still living at home so like is it normal in the US to not have family dinner? I’m Asian and it’s like an unwritten law here to eat meals, especially dinner, together with the fam.
Jackie L he could be moved out but it also varies household to household some families demand dinner together while others are more or less just straight up the type to let you eat dinner in your room if you are a goblin
i have dinner with family every night :) it’s a must for my family!
It was rare for our family to eat together, when we did I felt awkward because we are so distant from eachother
it really depends on the family. some eat together some don't.

How do you eat so less?
Really and truly most students in America skip breakfast and often lunch if we can’t eat at home or somewhere outside of school. Eating is just not something that we do as often, and eating alone is very common as well! I personally eat alone for every meal.
@nobita nobi He did mention it's finals week so he must be pretty busy and doesn't have as much time to cook. I doubt that's how he eats normally, he'd pass out from malnutrition or suffer from it at least a little.
Lol I eat very less as well and I tend to skip meals...
Food in America usually has a lot more calories bc like none of the food here is natural or good for u in general. even the fruits and vegetables have preservatives.

Tacos tacos and did I forget to mention tacos
Tortillas, if you can eat it you can put it in a tortilla, and spicy food, red or or white rice and beans, soups and stews
When she ate the noodles right out of the pot... yep that's me.
A lot of Koreans actually do that. I had a Korean friend and she'd constantly do that when we ate ramen from package. Saves dishes
Plus that's actually a designated ramen pot so that's not just a random pot she found lying around the house fun fact some people use the lid as a plate to put the noodles on so you can cool it down if it's too hot before you eat
