Try increasing the permitted roll and pitch angles if you want it more responsive in Angle Mode Andrew.
Would be interesting to see if the GT flew any more efficiently with a streamlined front end more like the x-uav mini talon instead of that bluff nose.Great video,off to smoke me a kipper skipper ;)

I`m guessing the Dart is more stable due to the vortex generators on top of the leading edge of the wings. They really help to keep it stable especially at low air speeds.
Yes I think so, swept forward wings and more area too.
Andrew have you fiddled with iNav autolaunch mode? It's absolutely brilliant for flying wings. Makes them easier(and fun) to launch! Not sure if on the DartXL there is a place underneath to get a good grip to chuck it, but you can always sidearm it while holding a wing. Cheers!
Yes I used to set it up on all my iNav planes, but not anymore. For big heavy planes and wings it makes launching much more difficult. Easier to launch with power assisting. I have also seen a Ranger 1600 hit the ground then race across the landing field until the pilot could cancel Launch mode.
@@AndrewNewton I had the same thing with my inav AR900, it tried to get in the air but ended up on the ground, i do have auto permanently on so i false start it and send it up

Yes good choice. Make it a pusher (but watch out for fingers in prop) and add dihedral wing tips like the Bruce-Ler

Hi Andrew, I got a Dart XL nose was damaged in a bad take off. They sell the nose to the Talon but not the Dart and wanted to know if it's the same item? Thanks in advance.

That is a good idea, I should have a list to go through in the same sequence, I'll ponder that. BTW I have the Nano Goblin on the bench ready to apply glue finally. Been swamped with products lately.

A problem of my own making. Crikey this Nano Goblin is a well thought out plane. Love the little hole in the control horn for the spar!
@@AndrewNewton They really did a good job on the final product for both planes. The research and development for both ritewing and rmrc compared to the Chinese kit planes is a big reason for me sending the planes. I have wondered if anyone actually flew some of the Chinese planes before releasing to the public.
Great i was wondering which one to chose. Talon seam to be more "nervous" in the air?
The Talon is not as inherantly stable but I prefer it over the Dart. Tougher and more efficient
Andrew Newton @ yes I understand, however if the purpose is to get nice videos you would probably need a gimbal to get these twisting horizontal movements reduced. Would love to see if you can mount a gimbal on the Talon.

with the dart xl, would auto launch work better if it is hard to launch manually?
I use Autolaunch all the time on this model, works great. But you need a very hard and precise throw. I also have very high weight, about 1450g since I use heavy battery.
I use a sunnysky 2216 1250kv with a 8x6, that has better efficiency, but makes launches even harder. I think the stock setup is much better for launching heavy
It launched really well in Angle mode. Not a fan of Auto Launch for heavy planes, and light planes dont need it.

On my first launches I used Angle mode. Worked perfectly. But since I changed to the 8x6 prop it's much harder to launch. This prop has higher stall speed. I have a 2216 1400kv motor here, do you think it would help in terms of launches?
I knew I made the better choice with the Talon..... at least for me....

Not recommended. They would be too easily damaged in rough landings.
Hey Andrew, i have an Idea, could You imagine to use some kind of Yagi - Uda or parabolic Antenna for Your FPV RX Set❓it should improve the Signal from the Plane, but it's just an Idea, a wired One, Your Airfield looks soaked, heavy Rain shortly ❓Video is very interessting, it's absolutly clear, the lighter Aircraft needs less Energie to stay aloft, hmm, a light wooden Wing, with more Wingspan, who knows, could fly longer👉🏻 and 👈🏻smoother❗

I`ve thought of using a parabolic something for the radio thinking it would improve signal strength but, unless it was for FPV long range it wouldnt be needed for line-of-sight flying...i guess.
I'm in to low fuss FPV. Can't be bothered setting up a ground station and directional antennas.
