    ***UPDATE***: The day after I posted this review I went to fly this model and found that the motor was making a nasty noise. I opened it up and the magnets have come loose. It appears that this is a known problem and ZOHD have claimed this is QC issue with an early batch. Luckily I spotted this while it was on the ground and I didn't have an issue in the air. I have messaged ZOHD and will do a mini update video once I get a reply from them. If you have one of these or are thinking of buying one then I strongly recommend you keep an eye on this motor or don't use the stock motor. I have a spare Sunnysky motor that I have for my Mini Talon so i've jut put that on.

      Update: After contacting ZOHD regarding this failed motor they very quickly replied with an apology and an offer of a free replacement motor. I'll update here again soon.

      Update: I have received the replacement motor. Interestingly enough it is a branded Sunnysky motor, but still has the ZOHD branding on it too. It is also labelled as the version 2 motor so you'll know which one you have. I'll do a short video update soon. Oh and i have flown with it, working great after 2 flights and I'll keep an eye on it (original one was fine at this point still too)

    I think the instability in turns is due to the V-tail. Aircraft with V-tails tend to yaw a lot during certain maneuvers

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  Год назад

      That could be the case... I just haven't had the same issue with any of my other V tails though 😕

    • @Tyr1001
      @Tyr1001 Год назад

      @@AdamGdoesFPV I may be mistaken, but I believe they said on their sight this one was not redesigned for the v-tail, they just made another version that had it. Aircraft with V-tails have longer than normal empennages to correct for some of the quirks they have, so an aircraft not specifically designed for it may have these effects more pronounced. Not very helpful i guess, but something to think about at least

    Great video m8! Little confused by your choice of fpv camera though... something like the predator v3 is on sale right now and its image is the closest to an Hd image ive ever gotten from a camera.. including the ratel and eagle.. ive noticed a HUGE difference with it on my 7" quad vs the old sparrow that was on there. Better picture makes for a much more enjoyable flight especially when cruising

    • @EnglishTurbines

      To be fair, the Runcam Sparrow is the very worst FPV camera Runcam have made, and Im a Runcam fan. It's absolutely shocking.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  5 лет назад

      The 2 camera's I run are the Runcam Eagle 2 and the Foxeer I have on this. For the money I think this is an excellent clear camera, and for double the price I don't think there's a huge amount of difference in the RCE2. Maybe the recording in this video doesn't do it justice? I have like 10 of them and always liked it. Next time I'll try something new if you think its worth it :) thanks for watching and commenting

    Isn't the Dart XL box smaller for transport ? Apart from the FC blocking the bolts for the wings - are there any other advantages regarding transport of the airframe ? I'm asking about "long range transport" on a plane etc

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 года назад +1

      The box for the Dart is a different shape, its probably bigger than the Talon GT box overall. I don't have the Dart box anymore unfortunately so I can't give you a side by side comparison.
      Other than that, no other major difference when disassembling them. Dart has 2 vertical stabilisers to remove. Talon just has the one tail section to remove.

  • @HaukLanglo
    @HaukLanglo 5 лет назад

    Your dip to the left looks like a classic wingtip stall. That antenna placement may cause weird turbs on that tip. Also check if you're heavy.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  5 лет назад

      The wight is low enough but the lipos can't be moved any further forward. I might add a heavier lipo and move CG forward slightly to see how it goes. Cheers :)

      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 года назад

      @Dominic Douglas Interesting, thanks for the info, I'll have to consider trying that then. You'll be fine with CG then, a GP7 I expect is heavier than the RC2. Along with the motor mount, keep an eye on the motor. I have version 2 just arrived and I'll do a quick update video soon. Cheers

    Great Honest Review. So I take it that you did not get one with the defective motor from factory?? And how are the tail fins holding up for you?

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  5 лет назад +1

      Well I'm just reading this now, after I posted an update earlier. Unfortunately I have been supplied with one of the defective motors as I found out this morning. I've contacted ZOHD and will provide a video update on this once they reply. For now I've stuck a spare Sunnysky on it.
      The fins: I'm very surprised that so far after near 10 flights, a couple of failed launches, a crash and a couple of rough landings, the fins are still perfectly intact! Luck?? maybe. Or maybe I miss-judged them. I'll let you know if I manage to break them. The spare being included in the kit was making me suspicious :P Cheers JD

    • @JD_1
      @JD_1 5 лет назад +1

      @@AdamGdoesFPV some of your failed launches could have been because of the motor. Very Sad. I still want to buy this plane. But to buy it at the current cost. Then having to take off the motor and put on a new motor is just not right. And I actually seen a couple guys say that the replacement motor ZOHD sends to replace had to be sent back cause it has the same QC troubles. I will just wait for the kit. TrueRC make great antennas but the main thing is they’re really durable compared to the ones made of wire. Data comes from the FC not the vtx so you don’t need to do anything just swap out vtx and antenna and you’re done

    I have this plane as my first fpv fpv plane (i have been flying rc planes for the last 5 years so im not new to planes) .
    My problem is that im really bad at launching planes so I had several really bad crashes because of bad launches.
    But when a friend of mine launched it it always flew really well exept for when horizon drift and me accidentally going into horizon mode made me crash because when I pulled up copletely i was still going down.
    I am really not sure if i should even get spare parts for this one ( at this point i would have to get every part new (fuselage, wing and tail)).
    Do you know a plane that is easier to launch an where i can get more range (i got 35km total distance with the talon) out of it? ( i have 2 4s 5000mah batteries that I could wire in parallel and use for bigger planes)
    It would also be great of it would fly great with these 2 lipos i have, they weigh about 350g each.

    With this setup, are the wing of equal weight? My 5.8GHz is 12g grams heavier than the R9MM receiver and I wonder if that causes the pitch induced roll on my GT. I also had it spiral into the ground in a sharp turn once. Thanks! Nice flying site btw.

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  4 года назад

      @avsaase 4 года назад +1

      @@AdamGdoesFPV I think i will try mounting the VTx on the nose and see if the pitch induced roll goes away. Only other cause I can think of is the ruddervators having uneven throws. Either way, definitely important to keep the speed up with this plane.

Where do you get your Lipos? (Hobbyking want £15 p&p!!) Banggood dont send Lipos to Uk (but weirdly will send to IRL?). Im in N.Irealnd so doesnt suit... cheers!

      The Pepperbox is excellent, I highly recommend it when you’ve reached the stage where you want to go further than the reach of the omni’s. I get 95% of my Lipos from Hobbyking, and I find that if you buy from the EU warehouse shipping is reasonable. Surprisingly the UK warehouse tends to have more expensive shipping for some reason. I do get a very small amount of lipos from Banggood, bit weird they will ship to Ireland and not UK, they have some odd rules with shipping sometimes. Anyway, check out HK EU warehouse, see if that’s better 👍🏻

    Do you prefer this to the dart?

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  5 лет назад

      I do prefer this to the Dart as it feels more stable and hasn't got that annoying nose up on full throttle. Also think the overall design is a little better thought out. Hope this helps. Cheers Alan

    If you wouldn't mind posting your inav dump? I'm having all sorts of stability issues with this craft and I suspect PIDs to be the issue.

      Hi, I can provide that for you some time soon, but have you tried Autotune? I mostly fly in manual so have done a lot of fine tuning on stabilised modes. Cheers

    these companies need to address with foldings props standard equipment problem solved !

    • @AdamGdoesFPV
      @AdamGdoesFPV  3 года назад

      I think they just needed to stick a bit of glue on it to be honest😆 I'm not really a fan of folding props and they will never supply them as standard as they increase complexity and cost of the plane. Best thing is to set your ESC brake on, this way there's a much lower chance of breaking a prop on landing. Hope this helps.

    8.50 The slots for servo cables are meant for flat, not twisted.

      Even at that you'd have to really squash them in. Thought it worth mentioning as most people seem to use the twisted these days. Cheers

    It looks like you are throwing the plane during launch. It will launch better if you bring it to full throttle and just give it a gentle push into the sky.

    How mad is this. Haven't bothered with banggood for almost a year as its gone right down hill. Last night i thought id have a look what was available on the United Kingdom location. half way down the page The Zohd Talon GT was there for only £100, yes that's right £100. and only two left, so i bought them both. I didn't even want one to be honest, but i know they were something like £230 and had pretty good reviews so thought why not. I can honestly say i was lucky as hell with that find.
