on the ground set RTH mode and full throttle, throttle will not activate until you throw the plane...then it will climb to the altitude and circle above you while you put on your goggles, finish your beer and then take control of the model. You missed one of the best features of the Kopilot.
I'm so happy you posted this. I've ordered Kopilot and the 400 cam for my nano talon which I converted to flat wing. Also ordered the Dart250g with these installed
I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this in the comments here, but Painless 360 notes that you have to be in stabilized mode in order to select the correct plane type.
Hello, I had this exact problem setting up one of my flight controllers, But to make a long trouble shooting issue as short as possible, I finally got mine working properly. I had the same exact issue, with one servo working with the elevator and the other servo working with the aileron, only one servo working as yours did. I spent a lot of time with this and I am experienced doing flight controllers and RC. I knew how to do setup and am very comfortable doing so. This also applies to iNav and other FC's. The problem is very elementary, and I knew not to do this, but I ended up doing it. It was during setting up my Taranis X9d+SE, I accidentally allowed my radio to set up the new model. I knew better but, you must skip the setup and do it all manually. As you said "NO MIXING in the radio", I let my Taranis do the set up and as you know Taranis put mix in. You must not let the radio do the automatic setup. I knew better but it happened. Check in the Taranis mixing screen to see if it has a mix, happens very easy. When I did a completely manually set up and made sure the Taranis didn't slip in the mix all servos worked as you explained happened to you started working as normal with a FC. The other Modes also straightened out as you would want. Sorry for longer post, but make sure NO MIXING in the radio happens, on WING type setups. Even happens to very experienced flyers. Hope this helps just one flyer. Chuck
Ugh have a sweet and sour taste in my mouth about this vid only because i missed out on the Black Ops Edition of this Talon! ZOHD please give us one more chance to buy this limited edition! Great vid Justin as always! We all make rookie mistakes when too excited and in a hurry!
If I’m flying my RC plane wearing google for FPV mode. Is it possible to buy a 2nd pair of FPV google for a student pilot so two people can see FPV mode of same flight?
I wanted this plane but I bought the 250 on accident. Idk what I think about the click together ailerons on this plane. Hopefully the 250 will be as much fun
Hi, I also tried to install the kopilot on the nano talon evo, but in the acro position everything works fine, in the stabilized position the elevator compensates on the contrary. I tried to rotate the wheel on the kopilot to the opposite side but this puts both the elevator and the rudder in the wrong position. Some advice? Greetings and congratulations for your videos, Aldo Guarasci
Hi Justin Great video and review of the Talon and the ZOHD F.C, I like the F.C but I can't see ordering a plane that can't fly at fullspeed. Thanks again for the info on this F.C and the Nano Talon B.O
Would adjusting the pots for the different surfaces help with the wobbles? That would be an absolute deal breaker for most, as that flight characteristic is awful
@@ArionRaine he is typically fairly straight forward in the reviews and overview of things. If able to adjust the "twithcing" the kopilot would be great for newer people in the gps game. Ardupilot, and Inav, are great but somewhat challenging to set up correctly
@@woogieman02 There are many other basic flight controllers on the market that offer simple GPS RTH. The Kopilot is just a copy of one thats been available for some time. Some of those even offer OSD. This has been available to new pilots for several years now. Kopilot is nothing new to the hobby. Just new to Zohd's offerings.
So I'm trying to set up this combination but with the 250g and I'm having the exact same problem you had with the v-tail configuration - *however* the fix for you don't do anything for me. Any update on that issue? Thanks
The problem you are having I am sure will be because the diagrams for the servo connections of the v-tails are shown in reverse on the Kopilot manual to the 1 supplied with the 250g plane (at least.) This is because the servos are mounted in reverse positions between those shown in the Kopilot manual. (It is VERY hard to see on the tiny diagram in the paper manual but can just be made out if you download the on-line manual and blow it up to 2/300%) Just connect the servos as in the manual supplied with the plane, select stabilized, then tip the tail up and the "Elevator" connected servo should lift its v-tail up. If not, reverse the pot marked ELE. Don't worry about the V-tail connected to the "Rudder". Check that the ailerons are correcting the right way by the stabilizer action and adjust the AIL pot if not. ONLY THEN pick up the transmitter and check that the sticks are moving the Aileron surfaces correctly - if not reverse in the transmitter. Same with the Elevator connected V-tail. Same with the Rudder connected V-tail. DO NOT TRY TO GET THE DIRECTIONS CORRECT WITH THE STICKS BEFORE YOU GET THE STABILIZATION CORRECTIONS RIGHT FIRST! Reversing the stab directions also reverses the stick directions. Reversing the stick directions has NO EFFECT on the stab directions. Best of luck. EDIT. And for anyone using Spektrum etc receivers, the Kopilot MUST see a channel order of AETRMode, NOT the normal TAERGear of Spektrum!
So I have this system. but I do NOT have manual mode on my (0) switch on my 3 pos switch. RTH and the other 2 switches work great, except I have 2 of the "stabilized" modes so no manual. Does anyone have an idea for a fix or a way to troubleshoot this? middle and bottom switch are Stab mode but I do enjoy manual when I can. Any help is appreciated.
It's a decent device. But a backup App for more mode clarity woulda been more decent. Before launch, are you getting throttle in stability mode? I'm thinking I might have to reverse CH 5 switch. Having no throttle in that pos. it may be in RTH ???
@@dronecamps Manual says 35meters. Is that close enough to 150ft for an American? ;-) Also if you decide to remove the setting board after completing the setup remove it BEFORE disconnecting the battery from your plane. If you do it the other way round it has been reported on the RC Groups forums that this will drop your settings. EDIT...the 35m mentioned in the manual is the MINIMUM height that the Kopilot will start to turn the plane for home, climb up to 70M and return to circle the home point at a radius of 50m. If the Kopilot goes to RTH for any reason (switch, hit Fence in Fence Mode or Failsafe with loss of Tx signal) while BELOW 35m it will fly on straight and climb up to 35m BEFORE turning for home. Andrew Newton checked the RTH altitude with his Mavic.
Exactly that could explain the heavy wobbling! I those vibrations destroyed IN FLIGHT my Freewing Lippisch and i had the gain set to only 30%😂. You really need to tune them down very low. And then make your way up in later flights.
Thanks for all the super informative videos and reviews Justin. Questions: I'm completely new to FPV and drone builds. Interested in this Talon as a first introduction. (Battery voltage display) Any advice from anyone would be appreciated as I haven't bought the plane as of yet to fully understand the setup.

If one connects the proper SBEC for some more powerful servos, this little thing can handle 12g servo with no issues whatsoever.
The jingling will cease if you lower the gain output
I am surprised drone camps do not know the cause or remedy. Suggesting several fixes, all wrong.
lol you made my day with sparless launch great review
Yeah that was classic on my part lol. 🤪
I didn’t know that you had anything other than cloudy days in the Pacific Northwest! 😁👍
Excellent video, very informative for us that have the talon and autopilot
AWESOME Review! I'm going to set one up to fly out to Alcatraz in the Bay Area!
FYI the EVO is actually a new model and not the "standard" The older ones have dihedral and a few other differences. Great video. Cheers!
I so want a long range wing
Did you happen to mention the weight of the plane in the video, I did not catch it, was just wondering because they have new flying rules now,.

Exactly! Crazy as every kopilot owner doesn't test a freewing rc jet for instance 😀

Are the ailerons supposed to be lifted like that?
Or are they supposed to be aligned with the wing?
That System would be Great with several of the Flite Test Pre-Cut Foam Board Planes!!
Hi, does it matter which way up the GPS module is installed :)

How do you set up failsafe on the receiver and tx for the RTH?
Would adjusting the pots for the different surfaces help with the wobbles?
That would be an absolute deal breaker for most, as that flight characteristic is awful
Of course. The pots set the gains. This guy just has pretty much no idea what he's talking about when it comes to anything fixed wing.

What type of controller you using or is the best? I'm considering buy this plane.
Can you use a spektrum satellite rx with this setup.
Does anybody know if the Kopilot will conflict with my Orbit RTF...will the 2 stabilizers conflict?
Dose anybody knows if this controller could handle a full size plane with current of 9 gram servo??
How does this compare to the Talon GT Rebel, Justin?

No stability mode only keeps your drone level. Altitude is determined by the amount of throttle you give it.

does it have a better esc? one that has more than the 1 amp bec?
Great review; Does the tbs crossfire micro rx work with the ZOHD kolipot?
has anyone setup kopilot using a radiolink at9s? im not having much luck
Thank you.
Is the only way that RTH functions is by the mode switch? So you’d still have to be in control of the aircraft?
It also respond to fail-safe for the receiver.
When it goes into RTH will it climb to a set altitude or will it maintain its current altitude?
Climbs to altitude around 150ft
Awesome Thank you very much. Love the videos. I watch everyone.

Can i run this plane with the rm9 slim+ ? Im using the taranis qx7.
Yes
Nice video!
So, this is obviously doesn’t clash with the Zohd’s own stabilizing system?
No it works fine
Do you recommend a 6 channel receiver? I have a open protocol transmitter.
