Ok, if they were going to modernize Ocarina of Time, and given 2026 is the series' 40th anniversary, but given the original Ocarina of Time came out in '98, could it be possible for them to release a modern version of the game for it's 30th anniversary in 2028? I don't like every single part of a map being accessible from the beginning. It feels like I have cheat codes on and it means you could go to a few dangerous exciting harder areas meant for later then do some boring easy ones later which is HORRIBLE gameplay. There's a reason there's been a damn gameplay structure all these years, breaking it leads to garbage. Plus it's exciting getting some new equipment or vehicle allowing you to explore MORE of the game rather than basically having the same level of freedom at the start as you would have at the end. That's not rewarding or exciting.

The story has always been a problem with Zelda. It's not really a series with a cohesive storyline, it's just a bunch of independent cobbled-together poorly written copy-cat plots. They need to make a game that actually explores a stable and reasonable lore that won't be changing drastically game to game.

Also 2026 is the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series and I don’t think they’d have a new 3D game in time so a remake does make sense as an anniversary title. A new 2D is also possible, but a remake would probably take the least amount of time to make in the window they have.

    • @Madchimpz
      @Madchimpz Месяц назад +3

I LOVE how you laid out your sources here in sections. Like evidence. This gets me really excited, but I was wondering if I should still my hopes because maybe there's examples of Aonuma commenting on distinct, exciting things that DIDN'T end up becoming confirmed teases. You later mention him denying things, as opposed to being vague, which is probably the best detail you point out. This is such a good video!
We live in constant remakes, now. I am worried about getting a remake of OoT, even if it was rebuilt in many ways. (Like a retelling, with new mechanics.) More than anything, I would want it to be a passion project from the devs, when it comes to the intention of it. Not the scale or detail, but the reason why it exists. Artists have finite lives and time with working together on beloved projects. I would want to play another OoT that, even if it came from financial strategy, is crafted with un-pandering passion. Nostalgia which comes from iterating on the understanding of the original work, like Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

      “Taken out of context”
asked about mm3d. Goes out of his way to tell you to print the laughing and let people interpret it, then the game is announce. Teases the thief thing, then confirms later it was a tease: literally says skyward sword on switch outs loud.
Asked about game starting Zelda; gives a long winded fluff answer and while it’s being translated, interjects in English to say maybe maybe maybe at a time he obviously knew echoes of wisdom was coming.
If you feel like things crazy pills and you feel like “these are out of context”, then you missed the context provided. Even by Eiji himself.

Should we rule out a Zelda 1 remake with the 40th anniversary coming up? Just imagine what that world and story would be like if it was more fleshed out, 3D, "open world" in the sense it claims to be, but still a dungeon/item/boss setup. Could add new items, and a few new abilities, especially fighting abilities and weapons to pick up. More story as well, and interaction with Ganon throughout with him trying to stop you.

An idea I had for a game is called Realm Of Dissonance. It takes place during the Era Of Chaos (the creepy cutscene in Twilight Princess). The story is that it's before Hyrule is founded as a Kingdom and the Interlopers were a group of rogue Sheikah, seeking the power of the Goddess from Zelda. Link's companion is a detractor from the group named Gerano. Once the story concluded and Hyrule is established it explains why the Sheikah are the guardians for the Royal Family.

I'm not sure if Nintendo would want to make an OOT remake because the original is available through the N64 Switch Online titles, and as for remakes, it would have to blow the PC Port of OOT out of the water -- and I'm not saying that Nintendo couldn't blow the PC port out of the water, but I'm not sure they'd want to put that much effort into remaking OOT...
We're all expecting a full blown new Switch2 3D Zelda title, and if the Switch2 is coming out in 2025, it needs to have some amazing classic Nintendo titles within the first year. This means some sort of 3D Mario title that compares to Mario Odyssey, and also a new 3D Zelda title coming down the pipe by the end of 2026, otherwise they are seriously breaking their standard model.
I think we really expected TotK to be a Switch2 title, but that didn't happen -- and Nintendo kept saying that they had a _lot_ of left over ideas for BotW that were originally planned as DLC, and this all became TotK... which was jam packed with content.
So what if Nintendo has already been working on a (completely new) 3D Switch2 Zelda title for a few years -- in parallel with TotK?
There's been rumours of Switch2 hardware for years, and that different game development companies were already working on Switch2 titles with dev kits a few years back...
...if any of that is true... then why would Nintendo themselves not have already been long working on Switch2 titles?
The original rumours for the Switch2 release date was December 2021, but the pandemic and resulting turmoil replaced the Switch2 with the Switch OLED. What if Nintendo had originally been planning for a new platform Switch2 3D Zelda title to be released in 2022... but it wasn't the right time for the hardware?
Maybe we got TotK as a new Switch game (rather than BotW DLCs) because the real next 3D Zelda game required the delayed Switch2 hardware, and TotK became a consolation prize to tide us over. They knew they had extra time to stretch out the development, and make it far more than their original DLC plans could ever be.
It's possible that planning for the Switch2 Zelda title started soon after the BotW release, based on the planned Switch2 hardware capabilities at that time. Not full tilt, but proof of concept engine prototypes based on next generation hardware. This could have been a project spanning a couple years (2018-2020) until it became clear that the Switch2 would be delayed by 3-4 years.
This doesn't mean that work on the Switch2 Zelda title halted completely, and I'm sure that it was on hold for a year or two, but what if a small team has actually been working on it since 2018? (Or maybe not so small?) Even with the project on hold for a year or two, that could allow for a full six years of development coinciding with a one year window of launching the Switch2.

*Aonuma:* "It's possible that fans might see an Modern Ocarina of Time Remake someday."
*Fans:* "Cool! We might we be getting the OoT remake we've been waiting for!"
    _Two Years Later_
*Aonuma:* "I present you The Legend of Zelda: Tunes of Wisdom. It's a retelling of 1998's Ocarina of Time, but this time you're playing as Zelda. In this alternate timeline, Navi was unable to wake up Link due to a sleeping spell. It's now up the Princess of Destiny and her creative wisdom find the destined sages of Hyrule and wake Link up, so that together, Zelda and Link can defeat Ganon. Since there is no time travel featured for this era in this game, there is no need for Sheik. Fighting isn't always the answer after all."
*Most Fans:* "OMG! Another NEW Zelda game! This is BETTER than a remake! We got a wHoLe NeW gAmE, Oh My GoD! And Zelda looks sOoO cUtE!"
*Hardcore Die Hard Fans:* "More of this creative gameplay focused stuff? We were promised a REMAKE of OoT! NOT some kiddie reboot! WTH Nintendo?!😡"
*Me:* "[sigh] Another day in the era of Modern Zelda and the fanbase still so divided as usual. When will this chaos end? Why couldn't Nintendo just make normal best of both worlds Zelda game so that we all can be happy? I miss playable"
    _Two More Years Later_
*Aonuma:* "Yes! What you just saw is a look at the first ever brand new original 3D Open World Legend of Zelda game where you play as Zelda. As with the last two titles, there is no real combat. Real combat is a thing of thing of past. However, Link seems to be clingy to those old ways, due that being what made him so iconic in past games was his skill in battle. Perhaps, this time, Link has joined forces with Ganondorf. Can Zelda get through to Link?"
*Decreased Amount of Most Fans:* "Yay! More playable Zelda!☺"
*Large Chunk of Fans Once with the Majority:* "Yeah, this was a fun idea at first, now it's just getting old. I miss being able to actually fight in Zelda games. Now it's just only puzzle solving and solving people's problems. It's become more about politics than adventure!"
*Most Fans of 2028 (mostly casuals):* "You're mad because you don't get to go on an adventure and fight monsters? You realize that not all games have be about going on an adventure and fighting monsters right? Aonuma just wants a break from the adventure genre. Zelda games don't have to be about adventure all the time. Grow up!"
*Hardcore Fans:* "Grow up? You're telling us to grow up? Sorry we grew up with a franchise that used to be all about adventure!"
*Casual Fans:* "When was Zelda really all about adventure? You know that the games has always had a focus on puzzle solving from the begin yes? It's always been this way!"
*Hardcore Fans:* "Uh, no it hasn't? Have you forgotten about Zelda II? That game was all mostly combat!"
*Core Fans:* "You're aware that you talking about a game that in itself, is just as much as radically different from most games as these games are, yes? You're arguing against inconsistency with inconsistency."
*Me:* "Ugh! It's hopeless! There's not ever gonna be another Zelda game. Not even an actual remake or remaster at this point.😞"
In all seriousness, the above is the most likely case scenario at this point. A lot of people were expecting the Oracle games or even A Link to the Past to be remade after Link's Awakening or even the cancelled third Oracle game. But we got Echoes of Wisdom. Now, everyone is expecting a modern OoT remake someday. But knowing Aonuma, it's most likely just gonna be a surprise new budget retelling game with Zelda playable, instead of Link. Given how Aonuma is obsessed with the idea of breaking conventions since the last decade, I don't see him developing another release featuring Link as the playable character anymore. Even if it's a familiar storyline. It's clear that Zelda is new main protagonist now. And the series is likely heading towards the direction of being all about pacifism and no longer about adventure. And unfortunately, most people are gonna be all for it, without a care in the world, because hey, it's a "The Legend of Zelda" game, and Zelda is playable, because that's all what most people care about in the end. Nobody cares if a game is actually good or not or if it actually lives up to it's main namesake anymore. As long it has "The Legend of Zelda" in it's title, it's automatically a good Zelda game and the next big masterpiece, especially if Zelda herself is actually playable, right? People are forgetting about matters for a game in the series to be good these days, and that's concerning. The bar gotten too low to the point where what AVGN stated in the three part Cd-i episode was right. It doesn't matter if the game has nothing to do with what series was all about 10 to 20+ years ago. As long as Zelda and/or Link are in it at all, it's still a Zelda game by all means. And sadly, it really is a pointless argument that can not be won. It unfortunately, is what it is, and that's that. As long as Aonuma is producer, Zelda is not ever gonna be anything like it was before Echoes of Wisdom ever again. That's what happened when BotW released. Now it's happening again. Zelda is slowly but gradually losing it's identity because it's current producer knows no boundaries for change. BotW was already too far as it is. EoW is going way too far to the point where the series isn't even really recognizable anymore. I can imagine that EoW is also gonna have loading screens featuring it's logo, just like BotW and Totk, because without it, people like me who've played Zelda games before might actually forget we're even playing a Zelda game this time.
I hope we actually do get an OoT remake that actually is OoT. However, with the way things are now for the series, I find that very unlikely. Aonuma doesn't want Zelda to be about going on epic adventures to slay evil anymore.

I’ve been dying for a oot remake. I think it would be awesome for the newer generation to experience the amazing adventure that the older generation experienced, but in a new form. I played oot when I was 6, my dad showed me the game, and I loved it. But imagine an oot remake and you get to use all of links sword techniques, that would be dope asf. (Hero’s shade hidden sword techniques)

It would also possibly make since if the remake were released in late 2025. Closing out that year with their new console with a remake of one of the most legendary games ever made would be a great holiday title. Also if the Zelda movie is released early in 2026 the OoT remake could also be a decent marketing tactic for that movie.

Imagine if they were talented enough to make new classics (like OoT, MM, WW) that would be remade 20 years from now on.
