I really like there is Super Mario Villain Easter Eggs in The Legend of Zelda Link's awakening Remake on the Nintendo Switch like Goombas in underground on a 2D levels and Chain chomp pet in some villager's house and you can take it to your pet what's so nice!
19:37 it took people that long to find this bro I found it without the lens bruh
My dude, 8:40 @mojoplays You're wrong about spectacle rock. Spectacle Rock made its first appearance in Zelda 1 NES. It's the literal entrance to the last dungeon.
I wonder how many people realize that Spectacle Rock in Ocarina of Time is effectively the roof of the Fire Temple?
Not really, it’s facing away from the rocks kinda just a subterranean structure.
@@FierceDeityRick The entrance is north of the rocks but it faces south so it's plausible it is the roof. At least as far as I remember, you climb down a long ladder and then the entrance is facing the opposite way.
It’s not just the roof the fire temple is inside spectacle rock because the entrance goes to below it and the design of the temple is two big columns going up right into spectacle rock
Yes, the Fire Temple largely consists of "twin towers" and when you descend to the entrance in the back Death Mountain Crater, you may notice that you have to turn towards the front in order to enter the Fire Temple itself.
It took me a long time to realize 😂
You just so casually throw in “a reference to Pikachu” without any backing and with so much confidence I can kinda get how you never questioned it since being a kid. But for future videos, I don’t think doing a little research on these asides is a bad idea.
Zelda says that you look like a cute mouse if you visit her again before completing the two child dungeons if you are wearing the Keaton mask.
It's wrong though. It resembles a japanese myth creature
I don't think it's "wrong" though, I think they designed the kitsune mask to resemble Pikachu, as well as the yōkai trickster foxes from traditional Japanese folklore. Just like how Eggman is based on Mario _and_ former president Theodore Roosevelt, things can be a reference to more than one thing you know.
The Keaton mask isn't a Pikachu reference. It's a Kitsune.
It could be both. Pokémon exploded with popularity in the west right when Ocarina of Time came out.
if you show it to zelda she will reference pokemon when commenting on it. it might not be entirely pikachu, but he's still part of it.
I believe in the Germany edition they made a pokemon reference to the game
I think kitsune is right. by the time MM came out, Keaton, Bremen, Bunny Hood, Don Gero and Scents were supposed to represent Fox McCloud, Falco, Peppy, Slippy, and the pig character (forget his name, never played Star Fox.😅)
Damn who pulled off those crazy moves in the Hidden Village for Twilight Princess?
The gerudo guards changing outfits with Link is most likely the game pulling the color of both from the same bit of code. It is interesting that nobody noticed it or cared enough to change it, even in subsequent revisions, but it's likely it was one of those bugs that "fixing" would have caused more unintended consequences than it was worth
That thing about the Skull Mask and the bats in Ocarina of Time? Turns out the crows won't attack you either.
Pokemon Advanced Seasons were my favourite on Pokemon Ash's and Pikachu's journeys, so love your profile pic bro!
I randomly found the secret room with the fairies by randomly banging my head against the walls of the castle😂
the keaton mask is NOT based on pikachu
yes it is and you will not get me to say differently
Originally, I think it was. If you visit Zelda again and wear the Keaton mask, she will say something about you looking like a cute mouse. You can visit her again up until you complete both child dungeons.
@@saraross8396 No. It resembles a japanese myth creature.
@@user-bf6gz8ej4obro it resembles both this isn't hard.
Can twilight princess and wind waker come on switch already.
No they’re fine on the Wii U
Probably not.
why is it bad to have them on switch 2 instead?
@@enorma29 That might happen. It's odd that it didn't happen on the Switch, not that I really care.
we'll probably get remasters for the switch 2, so that nintendo can buy themselves some time for the next game. Pretty much the same thing they did for the 3DS and Wii U
So the Keaton mask is likely not based on Pikachu at all. I have found nothing to confirm this from the developers. Rather, it's based on a kitsune. Kitsune are fox spirits in Japanese mythology who possess cunning and wisdom. They're also known as tricksters.
This is reinforced in Majora's Mask, because you find the actual spirit the mask was made to resemble.
Another reference for the mask is hidden in plain sight in Majora's Mask. The Keaton mask may be part of a reference to the Star Fox franchise (which has ties to the 3D games as an Arwing can be found in the code for Ocarina of Time).
The Keaton mask represents Fox
The Bremen mask represents Falco
The Bunny Hood represents Peppy
Don Gero's mask represents Slippy
And lastly, the Mask of Scents represents Pigma.
Not to mention a whole heap of Shintoism references in Ocarina of Time.
It's actually a bit of both Starfox and Pikachu. If you show Zelda the Keaton Mask (which is doable until you finish both child dungeons), she will say something about you looking like a cute mouse.
In the german translation they reference it as pikachu
It is. It's confirmed, not a fantheory, it's a fact.
I can see how that happened, Zelda and Pokémon are 2 parts of the Nintendo triforce.
Not really an Easter egg, but shooting an arrow at the same time as using a bomb in Link's Awakening to create missiles was an awesome thing to discover.
I wonder if anyone realized that Baito, the part timer, also made an appearance in Majora's Mask as the part-timer working at night at the Trading Post in West Clock Town, while the Curiosity Shop's manager is at his other store. You can also find the part-timer climbing a tree near the Astral Observatory in Termina Field during the day, trying to make more rupees. He and his Wind Waker counterpart have the same face and hair/beard style
He's also the guy on the roof in Kakariko in OoT
Excused me WHAT!!!!! Secret supply room in OOT. I have beaten OOT several times and I never once knew about this
Fun fact, it's there in both the N64 and 3DS versions of the game. Remember finding this way back in the day when I was a kid. On N64 you actually don't need the lens of truth because the wall where the entrance is, is slightly different colored than the surrounding wall. That was how I found it in the first place.
I had the guide and I didn't know it was there.
Yeah mind blown, that game was a huge part of my childhood and I spent hours, DAYS! Doing stuff like that looking for secrets. I would have felt like GOD if I had found that back then lol
The Twilight Princess palace extra key is something I found on my first playthrough. You only need one key in the palace, to get inside. However, there are two keys outside. Once you get the first the player would usually burst in and climb only to learn there's a locked door next to the final boss door. The map reveals lots of chests behind it, but unless you went to the bottom again and knew the OTHER side also had a small key you'd likely not know how to get in.
I was about to say the same thing
Yeah, it may not have been _everybody,_ but I think a _majority_ of players (as in over 50%) who make it to the end of the game are inquisitive enough to find this secret. Even if they aren't skilled enough to find it themselves, I'm sure it was posted to GameFAQs within hours of release. There's no possible way this took "years" to find.
If anyone remembers the Nintendo Badge Arcade on 3DS, the host bunny was also named Baito for the same reason. And the Japanese word "Arubaito" is a loanword from German, which I believe is "Arbeit". That's especially interesting since the The Wind Waker's Japanese title ("Takt of Wind") also has a German loanword, with "Taktstock" being the word for a conducting baton.
I like the "unorthodox item usage pays off" angle programmed into several boss battles. The Forest Water is a prime example, following the Bug-Catching Net deflecting Agahnim's spells (LttP) and bottles deflecting Ganondorf's spells (OoT).
There's also the bit in OoT's Spirit Temple where a statue of a Gerudo can be targeted with the Hookshot only on her nipples. And similarly to the guards' clothes in OoT, Zelda's dress in the first game changed color with Link's tunic (clearly saving memory by mapping them to the same palette).
Also, in Twilight Princess, during the final stage of the Ganon fight (face to face with Ganondorf) you can distract his attention by casting the fishing line. His eyes will follow the hook.
Yo one that I like is that in Ocarina of Time if you hold out a deku stick near a butterfly, if the butterfly lands on it it turns into a fairy. But I remember struggling in the Igos Du Ikana boss fight, and I never realized you could just make his minions march around.
The ZELDA letters in the second quest were obvious from the get-go. I remember watching my brothers play it when I was 5 and it was the biggest thing we talked about.
The hidden room in OoT Ganon's castle and MM Bremen Mask song working on the king's guards blows my mind.
Not sure if it's a secret, per se, but in the final battle with Ganondorf in Twilight Princess, you can distract him with the fishing rod
in addition: 'Arubaito' is the japanese version of the German word 'Arbeit' which also means 'job / work'
no idea how that german word became a Japanese loaner word that became part time work, instead of just "job/work"
@@MrNgMichaelIt likely got warped as time went on and got reinterpreted... Like how "yankee" which referred to Americans later became "yanki" which is now known as "delinquent"
Or alternatively, the loanword can get misinterpreted, like the word "kamikaze" is usually interpreted as a suicide attack in the west, but it's really Japan praying to their wind god for success.
That "wind god" being the one they personified after a storm helped drive away invaders in Japan's early history... Twice.
@@MrNgMichael Did you forget whom Japan allied with in WW2?
Kalle Demos: GYACK! SPRING WATER! I'M DEADLY ALLERGIC TO THAT STUFF!
Majoras mask was supposed to be personalized to each player...but that idea was scrapped..only thing left over are the stars going off of what your file name is...
First time reading this, and how exactly would that work in game? Like depending on your name you would get randomized item locations?
Tell us about it
They explain it better in did you know gaming episode. Suit yourselves, guys.
Whoever was playing that little bit at 15:04 deserves an award
My favorite easter egg is in Link's Awakening. The map of the Face Shrine represents Link crying (keep in mind he just learned the truth about the island before getting inside).
Pikachu: mouse
Keaton: Fox
🙄
20 YEARS to Find, to who? I guess for you, who don't play these games and are just looking for some topic from somewhere else.
I love the hidden village section in Twilight Princess. The music in that section makes me feel like I'm in a spaghetti Western, like Clint Eastwood in For A Few Dollars More. Absolutely awesome. Come to think of it, the music sounds a lot like the main theme from For A Few Dollars More too, which makes it even more awesome.
I even find the "Old Kariko Village" thing very important too as it explain why Hyrule isn't the same at each game.
for that last one: you don't have to fight the scrubs one at a time. megaton hammer in the middle of the room they all surrender. I even go in there not even to buy anything, just to hear the multi-scream they all make.
The guard still lets Link in if he has Zelda's letter. That's the whole point of it. The Keaton mask is an optional side quest.
My favorite "secret" is the Captain's hat in the Igos fight.
I brought it up in a livestream chat and I don't think anyone knew about it. The reaction was priceless. I made moderator that night.😂
If you bring the mask to the guard and show it to him but refuse to sell it to him he will actually close the gate again, it’s pretty funny
😂@BusJACKTV I never knew that I must of completed it at least 20 times throughout the years
I found the secret room in Gannon's tower on my first playthrough on the N64 due to the fact that the illusory wall had a different color. They must have changed it in the 3Ds.
Instant killing Kalle Demos is my favorite. Wish all bosses have such a hidden weakness.
I just realized now, after many years, that the Keaton Mask was meant to look like Pikachu 🤯
17:00 fun fact I found this secret immediately. I was just exploring and saw an out of place cuckoo and thought, "It's not supposed to be there, maybe i can hit it with magic powder??" and thought it was super important. nope. still had no idea that it wasn't a known thing.
That's awesome. This one completely blew my mind because I thought I knew this game inside and out, yet never thought to do that. Have you ever tried sprinkling the green fish looking things that shock you if you hit them with your sword? That's one I actually did figure out as a kid.
@nullpreference No actually! Ima go do that
My brothers and I have known about the breman mask and captain's hat thing since the game came out. We messed around in that game A LOT!
Had no idea until YEARS later that it wasn't super well known
I feel like it was in the Player's Guide, cuz I remember it too
Yeah, I feel like _most_ of these are well known, and this guy is simply lying for clicks.
As someone who has played through every legend of zelda game, I didnt realize how much I’ve forgotten about so many of the games lol. I dont even remember wind waker’s final boss or even who the stalfos dudes are. I even 100%’d majora’s mask (regrettably)
I knew about Spectacle Rock’s Piece of Heart. It’s actually on online walkthroughs that it’s talked about. I also know about Igos Du Ikana’s minions being able to march with the Bremen Mask from Chuggaaconroy’s Let’s Play of Majora’s Mask. So you are going to have to find new secrets that took players years to find instead of well known secrets.
The guard in Ocarina doesn't refuse entry to Link if he doesn't sell the Keaton Mask. Link just needs to show him the letter from Zelda and he opens the gate
He closes the gate if you refuse after you show him the letter
The Bonus Room in Twilight Princess Hyrule Castle is not hard at all though
The Chris Hoolihan room in SNES Link to the Past. I found that room by accident as a child and thought it was a dream until years later when it was confirmed.
Wait, people didn't know about the gerudo changing clothes to match Link's color scheme?
Amazingly, even though ive been playing it since the mid 90's, I only recently discovered that you can jump into those big pots to find secret fairy rooms. Amazing.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that Shad from Twilight Princess looks like a young Michael J. Fox?
The fact that one of the images on the thumbnail is just one of the small key chests in the well really kills the video's credibility and makes me feel like it is not worth watching.
I remember it being pretty obvious that the first set of dungeons in Zelda's second quest spelled out ZELDA. It's hard not to notice back in the day when you're staring at the map trying to find pass-through walls and bombable walls.
I was expecting these to be crummy secrets everybody knows, but no... you chose well.
slight clarification: Arbheit is a German word. and while Ki-tan is a riff on popular mascot characters including pokémon, he's a kitsune, not a direct reference to pikachu. Kitsune were yellow with black-tipped ears before videogames were invented ;3
I wouldn't call the graveyard one from Twilight a secret. It was fairly easy to find.
This one fits perfectly right now, I'm watching this. Greetings from Venezuela, South America. 🇻🇪
¡Poder al pueblo de Venezuela!
@@chompythebeast Jajaja gracias, ¿de dónde eres?
Many know about using a bottle to face Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time. I discovered the Bug Net works with Aghanim in A Link to the Past BEFORE I learned that the Master Sword worked. The Hammer works as well.
There's actually a few uses for the lens of truth outside of the shadow temple!
The Keaton mask is not a reference to Pikachu. It’s a reference to the Japanese kitsune or three tailed fox…
I think the ones where they're comparing the characters appearance to other characters in a different Zelda game is kind of stretching it a little bit but all of that other stuff I already knew about.
The three dragons have a piece of the triforce on their backs in TotK.
Are they like on their head or are they in a different spot
@@ilovemydoberman80 on their backs
As a kid I never knew this one, but apparently in OoT and possibly Majora's Mask, the Redead won't notice/attack you if you walk slowly. It took me over 20 years to realize this.
Yep, I figured that out as a kid, I interpreted it as sneaking around them while they're "asleep", or maybe them hearing something slowly walking around makes them think it's one of their own... And get alerted if it's loud footsteps of something relatively speedy, AKA; something alive.
I don't understand why some of these are on this list. The castle grave and exploding bomb bag were things I knew about since I first played those games.
It really took you 20 years to realize Zelda's second quest temples spelled out the letters Z E L D A? I realized it in the 80's as a 6 year old.
So if you blow up Sakon on night 1 in MM how does that effect doing Kafei's quest? Is it bricked for that run?
Man twilight princess looked so good
People didn't know about the treasure room in Twilight Princess?
19 of 20 I never knew about! As for the water on the plant boss in Wind Waker, you kinda spoiled that in the past. Huh... MojoPlays To the Past!
I had no idea about the Ocarina of Time inventory room in Ganon's Castle. I'll have to keep it in mind for the next time I play Ocarina of Time.
Wonder how long it took Link to realise he can hold fairies without an empty botle
I was completely surprised by the cucko lady and by the supply room in OoT and I really thought I knew these games inside out.
Everyone knew about Gerudo matching Link when it was released. EVERYONE! The 'fairy fountain' grotto with the Wolfoes and the unique walls was lesser known.
Hell, even Jabu Jabu's Corpse in the ice is lesser known
Not everyone knew about it but sure every single person who purchased that game was notified by nintendo of it
I wonder how many people know what happens if you use ice arrows on bongo bongo in OOT
A lot of these "secrets" we knew when the games came out. Especially the last example given.
For the original WW the timer for the water was less then what was in HD making you take two trips if you aren't fast enough.
Oot is one of my favorite games of ALL time not just in the series and I had NO CLUE about the Gerudo clothing color change. I probably was so used to wearing the tunic I used in the previous dungeon to notice.
It's not in all versions. And it was only the one who gave you the pass.
What’s funny about arubaito is that it’s a borrowed word - from the German arbeiten, meaning to work
The Hylian book title in The Minish Cap isn't actually "Triumph Forks", but it's likely a reference to that. It uses the same kind of word-corruption that turns "Triforce" into "Triumph Forks", by turning トライフォース (Toraifo-su / "Triforce") into タヤイとホース (Tarai to Ho-su / "Tub and Hose"). So it's more like the Japanese equivalent of the "Triumph Forks" joke.
Isn't that just what the fishmen are saying in Japan? In otherwords, the same "Triumph Forks" joke, but untranslated?
@@Wendy_O._Koopa I just checked, and you're right.
Funny thing about arubaito, its origin is German. "Arbeit" means job or work
I'd love to see a list of the top 10 (or 20) side quests in Zelda games. If there already is one, sorry if I missed it.
I remember accidentally finding a bunch of rupees in ocarina of time while climbing the chains on the drawbridge and finding a free hylian shield in the graveyard as young Link.
huh, I thought the Gerudo's clothes color was well known, found out the Sakon one in MM by accident (also, maybe due to some glitch, Sakon can still run while you're talking to the old lady so if you stall he gets away while the text is still on screen) XD, yet MM is my favorite game of all time and I didn't know you could make those characters march with you! 🤣
Meanwhile being the thorough bugger that I am, I've known about the TP "secret" since my second playthrough, still not using a walkthrough lol
I noticed the dungeons in The Legend of Zelda second quest being shaped by the letters in Zelda when I read the NES Game Atlas, which had maps of that game and several other NES games. That guide came out in 1991. Was that when everyone knew the secret?
I accidentally found the sakkon secret once. I thought "You know what? I have the bow and arrow so I'm just gonna shoot him" and I was shocked when he exploded. I laughed but was shocked
I actually did the water trick in wind Waker. Crazy Easter egg. No idea how I thought of it, but I did lol. And I feel like I did the marching song with the mask, but it’s possible I just saw it in a video before.
I think I found the secrets for Igos Du Ikana very early on when I played Majora's Mask for the first time.
My favourite secret is that the mailman orni from WW has got the face of the mailman from OOT.
An actual secret that took years to discover is that the masked racer in super mario sunshine also has that same face hidden underneath.
You can't see it normally in game.
Cmon now, the original Zelda came out 1986 not 1987
Why does the editor not put in half of what is being said?
Wait, you can straight up just kill the bomb bag thief in Majora's Mask?
I'm surprised you guys didn't show off Chris Houlihan's secret room in A Link To The Past
oh wow the weed killer one is new to me!
The background music in this countdown is really good, what is it? Specifically the track at 7:53, could you please help?
Some of these I've known of for a long time and some like with the thief Sakon was even mentioned in game guides.
Its GanonDORF in Wind Waker :P
No, I noticed the gerudo tunic color change in 2010, i love changing links colors based on his environment, and i typically wear red in gerudo valley. I forgot to change it one run and did it mid battle with a gerudo gaurd and i thought eveybody knew about it. I know im not the first one either.
7:58 Which in-turn, comes from the German word "arbeit"! It's a linguistic layer cake!
1:49 this is probably because of memory limitation
No. If you have one of these crawling bombs, their clothes will switch between all colors
Also the japanese word"Arubaito" is actually german and means work (Arbeit)
Awesome Video!!
I think that the next super smash bros should be called super smash bros minus and take place in minus world
Funfakt the japanese name in minute 8 cames from the german word Arbeiten it means working. Japan got many words form other countries. For example Ruckusaku (Rucksack) is german to it means backpack.
I actually found the ganon's castle one with the lens of truth just because I accidentally ran through the wall and got curious
8:00 - interesting... It must've been a loanword from Germany, considering their word for "work" is "arbeit"
Also, if you pull on the picture frames of Mario's face in some homes in LttP, you'll get rewarded with some rupees if I recall
The Wind Waker's Japanese title also uses a German loanword! I wonder how common they are, and if it's really a coincidence.
The data file in pikmin looks like the RUclips play button... like Exactly like it.
4:14 wait but I thought that was well known :0 I found it in my completionist play through
Great
my first playthtough of twilight princess i found the treasure trove. But im very thorough in games.
