- Hey Everyone, thanks for tuning in!
Today I’m showing you how i do a soldier course, as i said in the video this is only my 3rd or 4th one ever so i’m not a speed demon at it yet.
How to put your marks on so you know where to lay:
Starting from one end mark 10mm this is an additional perp you have to include. From that mark, gauge 75mm, 150, 225, and so on, mark each one until you have got to the end. Once you’ve marked them on you’ll see what gap you have left. Eg: we had a 65mm gap left so i knew i had to make each joint a little smaller so we could fit them all in.
If you have a bigger gap eg 90mm you know you need to make your joints bigger.
Thats how we make our joints looks the same size throughout, rather than just laying them and then getting to the end and the last ones are either really big or small. This way keeps the perps consistent.

Looks great, it's winter here so we're doing tile work inside. Looking forward to getting back outside in a month or two and getting back to bricks.

Just a question how come it was a 150 soldier and not a 225 ? Normally 150 if laying imperial bricks because they never work 225 for 3 course so how come your not doing a full soldier on metrics?
