- Another sleeper train review. I travelled from Warsaw to Prague aboard EuroNight train. I took deluxe compartment in sleeping car, operated by ČD (Czech Railways).

Great report again Pete I must say I’m a sucker for the overnight trains just something about overnight travel that seems so luxurious, still trying to get my wife to get the 6 or 10 day European rail pass and use the overnight train as a mobile hotel room and then get more time to explore the cities we decide to visit, ps I know you have to pay a supplement for overnight trains but in comparison with hotel rooms it’s pretty good value and I would expect to stay at least 2 days in each city we visit
Thanks so much! I have the same opinion as you. Better to combine the journey with the accommodation on train and save one day at the destination. It's also an advantage for me to return home that I board the train in the evening and go work after arrival.

Díky moc! Ano, ta cesta byla moc fajn, zvláště když jsem měl ještě Deluxe kupé. Tyto WLABmz vozy jsou opravdu nejlepší. ČD udělaly dobře, že si je tenkrát objednaly a ÖBB měly štěstí že se jich Deutsche Bahn zbavovaly. Byl jsem překvapen, jak jsou vychytané i sebemenší detaily :-)

That’s strange I’m from Ireland and I’ve only been to ulm once in my life and never been to Warsaw although my wife has, ps we both love Germany and have had many holidays there and once this pandemic is over we’ll be back for a nice holiday again, best wishes from Ireland

What a great trip review that is being shown. Another full "yes" listed train. This is the fourth one 😉 However, it is very special since it is a sleeper couch. It was a true jackpot that you got a compartment with a personal shower and toilet. This is really great as some people really need to rush to the toilet to settle after an immediate morning wake. Plus, you might sleep much comfortable after taking the shower or keep yourself refreshing during the daytime. Lastly, the card access key is a huge thumbs up for me as anything could go missing since there are people boarding and getting off the train all the time which makes the filling for police reports useless to track the snatcher or thieves. Here in Malaysia, sleeping couches are quite a few or gone "extinct" since the introduction of the semi-high speed EMUs in 2016. I'm looking forwards to more trip reports in future but at the same time do take care of yourself as always.

Thanks so much! Yes, 4th full Yes rated :-D This train was very comfortable and I am very glad that there was a compartment with en-suite bathroom and toilet. Hezké video, btw v létě jezdí od Baltu do Bohumína taky jeden noční vlak v kategorii TLK (Rychlík) a jeho jízdní doba je dosti nepřesná, někdy nedojel vůbec takže doporučuji na další léto 😂👍
Díky! Jo, ten vlak se jmenuje R/TLK Wydmy a je tam krom B249 i jeden PKP lůžkový vůz. Letos jsem ho bohužel už nestihl, ale mám v plánu příští sezónu :-)

Praga jest bardzo ładne miasto. Do Pragi kursują pociągi nocne oraz kilka pociągów EuroCity.
Aż mnie ciekawi ile kosztuje bilet z Warszawy do Pragi, w wagonie sypialnym, w przedziale z prywatną łazienką. 🤔🤔🤔

Hi Pete, an interesting video...I have not a big experience with trains. The exception: three train trips...Poznań-Kiev in 2006, Pau-Paris and London-Hannover in 2015. This last option I would recommend you:) Pozdrov z Poznania

Great review Pete and what a great sleeper compartment! It is nice to be able to order a snack or drink too , especially if you have missed dinner. Sounds like this time you were not disturbed by the shunting of carriages at night?
Thanks so much Linda! Yes, my room was great and good for sleeping. Fortunately, the shunting of carriages was up late this night, moreover, I was quite tired after traveling for a day, so I slept well .. plus I also used earplugs :-D

Boy how things have changed. You were able to sleep through that first part of the trip. I remember when I took it, in the 1980's you would be woken up at the Polish Czech boarder,
I am very happy that it's possible to travel within Shenghen almost without controls and sleep all the way

The price for it is really good in my oppinion and the quality is not far from NightJet.
My advices after travelling with this type of sleeping coach(both Nightjet and CD):
- DO NOT take the upper bed, is really unconfortable. avoid for all the price.
- if you are on a tight budget and alone, I recomend the down berth in 3 bed cabin, it is the compromise I could do, even in 3 people in a small cabin is too much.
- ideally alone single cabin will work, if it possible to save some money also 2 berth cabin could do the job, I want to try to see in the future how it is with 2 people in a 2 bed berth cabin.
It is very important to try those cabins when they are fully bookied, because on thing is to be alone in a 3 berth cabin (I had the luck to do this as well) and other thing is to be with 2 more people and sudenly the experience is different because lack of space.
Another thing, the corridor is very narrow, so staying out of the compartment will annoy the other passanger and staff which wants to pass you.
Thanks so much! Yes, there is very little space in the 3-bed configuration. I had the opportunity to travel in Standard cabin and I felt cramped there in Single occupation too. But the narrow corridor is understandable, because it gives more space in the cabins. Btw., to Warsaw I traveled in a PKP sleeping car and there were more spacious compartments (ČD/ÖBB: 12 compartments /car, PKP: 10 compartments /car, both cars are UIC-Z, so the same length).

What is the difference between IC 407 and IC14001? Has the train number changed?
Nevím, zda jste si všiml loga na té kartě - JLV. Jde o zkratku "Jídelní a lůžkové vozy", což je dceřiná společnost ČD, která v poslední době provozuje i sítě Momento a Momento Café. A to na nádražích (Kolíně), v nemocnicích (VFN, ÚVN) atd.
Loga jsem si nevšiml, ale vím, že pro lůžkové vozy, stejně jako jídeláky, poskytuje servis JLV.
Thanks for the video. Can you please next time point the camera a bit up. Especially at the beginning all I saw was the ground and stairs which is not interesting. I was hoping to see more from the Warsaw East train station. Otherwise good video.

Yes, it's a disadvantage of night trains that you can not see the landscape around .. maybe in the summer, when the days are usually longer :-)

We are looking to use the train to travel from Warsaw to Prague.
Was the train easy to navigate for a novice ie being able to find the right part of the train to be on?😂
Hello! Thank you :-) I don't know from which station in Warsaw you plan to depart, but I think it would be best to navigate according to the car numbers, the sleeping car to Prague should have number 354 (car numbering is usually 343 to 358). There are now 2 to 3 carriages going to Prague (depending on the season) and they are mostly in a dark blue/white combination.
Where do you get the key card to your sleeping car? Do you check in on the train or somewhere in the station before?
Shortly after departure, the sleeping car attendant will bring the key card and collect breakfast cards and tickets at the same time.

Hey, there are 3 booking options, you can book the compartment in a Single, Double or Triple. But if you book Double option, there is a chance you will get a companion (depends on occupancy).
Díky za video a zajímavé informace. Když srovnáš jízdu v předchozím spacím voze, který byl lepší? Jinak vstupní karta pro vstup do kupé i na WC je dobrý nápad :)
Díky za shlédnutí! Určitě tento má lepší vybavení, uzamykatelné dveře na kartu, koberec na podlaze.. ale ten PKP je zas prostornější (ČD má 12 kupé a PKP 10 při stejné délce).
Could you please tell me from did yoi get your card to open the door? I booked my tickets, but I didn't get any card. Will I get it on the train? Next week I will travel first time and I'm a bit confused 😂
If you travel by Czech Railways train, the key card is prepared in the compartment when you board the train.

I will start my journey at Warszawa Wschodnia, and if I remember correctly this is Czech part of the train ;) but today I also made a call to Intercity hotline, and they said that there is no card,only lock onside 🙈 but the guy seemed to have little knowledge...🤣
@@paulineszka8279 If you will travel to Prague, currently there are 3 carriages, 1 seated carriage, one sleeping car and one couchette. If your reservation is to couchette (car No. 354), this sleeping car has compartments accessible via key card. But the couchettes no, there's only lock from the inside.

Ten Vlak jede v 19,39 h
V tom videu je 3x natočený na tabuli odjezd v 19.26 a stejný čas mám i na jízdence.. Tak jim to napiš do Polska na PKP, že to mají na 3 tabulích špatně :-D To že dneska jede v 19.39 neznamená že jel před měsícem jinak.. Tím vlakem jsem jel už několikrát v měsíčním odstupu a pokaždé byl odjezd v jinou dobu

Jel jsem tímto spojem nedávno několikrát, v obou směrech, a byl jsem také spokojen, ale podotkl bych i několik nedostatků.
Jednak úsek kolem Katowic je extrémně zastaralý, takže vlak dost skáče, což ve 4 ráno není úplně to pravé. Dále, nevím proč, mají polští fírové asi nějaké závody kdo bude více houkat, což může slabší povahy také rušit ze spánku, protože vždy kus cesty jede tento vůz hned jako první za mašinou. Obzvláště to potěší když průvodce "ohulí" topení natolik, že i na nejnižší nastavení ovladače je v kupé 30 stupňů a musíte si pomoci otevřením okénka... :))
Ano, uvědomuji si absurditu stěžování si na houkání u vlaku, ale tohle je fakt extrém. :)
Plus, také nevím proč, na polském území dochází k mnohem většímu "cukání" v podélném směru, jak kdyby fíra ve dvousekundových intervalech střídavě zabíral a brzdil... Nevím, jestli se třeba nějak hádají brzdy nebo co, ale na českém území to nebylo...
No, konec hnidopišství, stejně mám noční vlaky rád... :)
Díky! Haha, tak to jsem rád že nejsem sám, kdo si to myslel. Já jel tu trasu 4x (3x ČD vozem a jednou PKP z Vídně). Vždycky si říkám, že ve směru do Polska musím usnout v Bohumíně, jinak už nezaberu.. a v opačném směru zas ideálně v Katowcích (dříve to nejde, protože často tam ještě někdo přistupuje a dělá hluk).. ale pamatuju si, že jednou mě to u Katowic málem vyhodilo z postele. Jinak to houkání jsem také postřehl, ale kdoví jaké mají zkušenosti v Polsku, je možné že tam běhá zvěř kolem trati a nebo pro jistotu kvůli přejezdům (jo, to bych se mohl vlastně někoho poptat). Co se týče teploty, tak mám zkušenost, že čím blíže k průvodci, tím tepleji a naopak (jednou jsem ucpával výdech klimatizace časopisy protože byla zima). To cukání nevím proč, spíš jestli to není že střídavě mění výkon nebo se mu nechytá trakčák? (ale podobně jezdí v Maďarsku fírové s našimi loko). Každopádně jinak to samé, také mám noční vlaky rád :-)
@@PeteBrandy - já teď jel za poslední 2 měsíce asi 8x, v jednom či druhém směru. :) Než sedět 8 hodin přes den v EC (nebo dokonce tu trasu řídit autem), to radši vyrazím už večer a budu ve Wwě ráno a vyspalý. :)
Ale nutno ještě říct, že by ty vozy už snesly nějakou větší údržbu, postele, sprchové kouty, ostění, držáky... V jednom kupé nedržel stojánek na hrnky u stěny a trčel vyklopený do strany, takže jsem se v noci několikrát praštil. :)) V druhém případě zase rachotil některý z panelů v koupelně, a trvalo mi dost dlouho najít který a nouzově ho připevnit aby se dalo usnout...
@@carthtc3429 To chápu. Já jsem absolvoval před pár lety několik cest autem a nikdy více. Přes den jsem EC ještě nezkoušel, ale ty noční vlaky nemají chybu.. a když srovnám letenku + hotel, tak toto je i cenově mnohem lepší
., všechno tam je zastaralé. Opravdu velmi původní. Proto ten středověk v cestování .
