Short Story...One of my friends who has a brezza petrol 1.5NA and has no knowledge of cars once he driven hyundai xcent diesel 1100cc 3 cylinder Diesel Engine with just 73bhp and 190Nm torque and he said "kya pickup hai" kya bhagti hai.. despite 73 bhp but 190 nm torque which made me think about how he will feel when he will drive 1.5 diesel,1.6 diesel,2.0 diesel etc
Turbo petrol are also good but have initial lag which can be a problem in bumper to bumper traffic also low mileage in traffic and if driven aggressively but diesel is a diesel with minimal turbo lag, torque boost and very good mileage in both City and highway driving conditions..
I myself sometimes launch my City 5th Gen and revv it till 7200RPM( 4k to 7.2k rpm) gives full 121 bhp and 145 nm torque and in that my car feels like a rocket due to Vtec character & I always want to drive between 4k-7k rpm but will result in less mileage and I think about how lucky are those people who have a car with diesel engine and they enjoy full torque everyday at much lesser rpms

Daily I see multiple trucks, buses emitting black smoke from the exhaust but the govt isn't banning them but want to impose BS6,phase 2 emission norms on cars which pollutes much lesser..
Talking about Evs,majority of people aren't considering EVs, which is why many oems are offering heavy discounts. If not diesel then govt should provide tax incentives for hybrids so that brands like Honda,VW/Skoda etc will invest more in india to localise the engines and components..

Just to let all viewers know. My Polo GT TSI 1.0 gives me a mileage of 7-8 kmpl in tail to tail traffic of Pune with mixed driving (rash driving when ever I get to see a small stretch of free road). My XUV 700 ax7L Diesel gives me 10-11 in same traffic even with so big size and rash driving when I get a chance in small distance. Plus during rash driving the mileage I get in polo dips to 4-5 kmpl but in xuv it never drops below 8.
On highway, there is no comparison. In 120 kmph speed also I get in double digit in xuv and not more than 7-8 in polo. Both cars are super fun to drive and can pull like a rocket but xuv even with big body gives me more economical sense!

Gov wants to focus on money. More petrol sale, not reducing market barrel prices to end consumer and now adding ethanol to 20% with same price to get additional 10% gain in money.
DIESELS are better fuel PERIOD but all things depends on what and how our GOV thinks. Sadly the think tanks prefer money over logic. Sadly it won’t change anytime soon…

    Hi Sunderdeep Singh.
Great conversation of the Diesel Engine vehicles. I own a Kia Seltos, 1.5 Diesel. The fuel efficiency in Bangalore City Drive is between 17 & 18kmpl. Previously I had a Suzuki Swift, 2014 again a Diesel. The fuel efficiency was easily 20 kmpl in Bangalore City drives. As rightly said that the Diesel Engine has a better efficiency due to high compression ignition, while in petrol engine, the compression is much lesser. The Thermal efficiency is as rightly pointed out is higher in Diesel engines than Petrol Engines.
Coming to the point of the market leader leaving the diesel field, they designed a diesel engine with a inbuilt exhaust manifold, which cannot meet the BS6 norms. So, the investment at the fag end of the BS4, which was a major flaw in this engine, which could not meet the BS6 norms.
The Turbo Petrol will show efficiency in the laboratory, but in the practical field, the efficiency dips badly because, the turbo charging of a petrol engine, will create a high knock. To control the knock & bring down the temperature, the petrol is sprayed to burn for reducing the knock but the power is not translated. This is contrary to the diesel engine which increases the fuel efficiency by turbo charging.
Also please be understood that minimum of 3kW is required for charging an electrical vehicle. Is it a practical alternative to provide this amount of power at each charging point? Definitely not.

When you replace a car by ev
      The supply chain :
      1. Doesn’t have to refine oil for that car (uses same power 2-3kWh for each litre of fuel refined)
      2. Petrol pump doesn’t have to run for filling that car (10-20kW pump is needed for petrol pump)
      3. Trains don’t have to transport oil from harbour to refinery and refinery to depot for those cars
In 100% EV scenario, lot of energy which is being used (and wasted) just to produce, refine and transport oil won’t be needed anymore
It can be diverted to EV charging

What I think is that ultimately, the government also realized that they are making more money on petrol. Jayada khapat to jayada tax v. Secondly, diesel chunki main fuel hai for heavy transportation and agriculture so ek level s upar uska price badhane m pareshani hai but petrol m nahi. Third point, Diesel cars khud itna fuel efficient hoti hai ki koi usko chor k dusri technology like EV ya hybrid per move nahi kerna chahta. But now out of compulsion they are moving as running a petrol car is must costlier. I had been a fan of diesel cars. But lastly, I had to move to a petrol and cng car because of temporary ban on diesel cars in winter in Delhi NCR. I feel diesel is a wonderful and very stable fuel and diesel cars are fun to drive. The government is just killing it for vested interest. Nice discussion. 👍

Volumetric consumption pe maine apne friends ko same baat batai jo aapne boli but unko voh samajh nahi ayi.. y yeh bolo mai unko samjha nahi paya.. one car with same brand with same CC and different engine ( PETROL AND DIESEL) give different mileage, spouse petrol petrol car give 9-10 kmpl mileage in city, and the car with same CC in diesel gives 14-15 kmpl.. so petrol is less cleaner then diesel..

But it boils down to respective usage. If one commutes in b2b traffic, diesel won’t make more sense, although fuel cost would be lower, overall maintenance in long run might be much higher

diesel locomotive is actually diesel hybrid (AC Motor running via diesel Genset)
power losses are lower than diesel hydraulic (equivalent of TC gearbox with diesel engine)
coal running steam engine runs directly by coal, there was also concept of steam turbine locomotive which are much more efficient than steam piston action

    Okay, this is my take.
The soot emission or PM 2.5 emission is higher from diesel engines. We all still see black soot from all diesel engines even after implementation of Euro 6 modification. Even though DPF traps soot , one has to still pay extra to burn the carbon at higher temperatures or get it cleaned by paying extra. Soot causes increase in trapped solar radiation within the atmosphere causing rise in temperature and global warming. Hence diesel is dirty fuel. Petrol combustion would not result in that quantity of soot formation hence does not require DPF. Imagine this soot and fly ash from the exhaust breathed in and trapped in lungs. How will you remove it ? Change my mind please.

    • @7567_Rex
      @7567_Rex 3 месяца назад +2

Very True, the funniest part is, The guest speaks so highly of VWAG diesels, if they were so good and clean why did they have to resort to cheating to meet emission norms?
He then says that due to 3 tech (DPF, CAI SCR) all the particulate is captured, ok. Then during next segment of “how to maintain diesel in urban running” he suggest Italian tuneup to clear DPF by driving at 100 in 3rd gear so that all the particulate etc gets ejected out of the exhaust
So the particulate and soot which the DPF was installed to prevent going into environment……ends up in the environment all over again

As a VW owner i am not able to trust any other brand rather than German cars. i am looking into new and old used German cars. My run is 2000 Km in a month. looking for diesel cars but not able to figure out the cars. I am confused between cars Kushaq, Taigun, kailaq, Creta, 3XO. please suggest me a better car. i was looking for a diesel car as my run is more but as VW & Skoda does not produce diesel cars looking to go with petrol car. My Priority is Safety, 1&2 row comfort, smooth and powerful engine like VW POLO. if possible milage. i can comprimise on additional features, but cannot compramise on safety, comfort and engine. please suggest me the best car.

Govt is unclear of concept and targeting diesel cars when diesel cars are not emitting dangerous gases which EVs can generate, petrol is expensive so Govt is forcing us to naturally go for EV, when the choice given by Govt is incorrect, Govt rethink and come in the game of mass driving market

@ almost all the states in the north have started to refuse to extend rc. The handling and performance is phenomenal. GET THE 4x4 top model if you are planning. Light off-roading it can do easily, mud and snow can be done too. only limit is ground clearance when stock height. using Suspension risers and bigger tires solves the ground clearance to an extent. AWD system works amazingly good. and being a VAG car it has endless mod potential too.

sir ji thanks for the info🙏you both are wiki of German engines.
I am in process of buying a new car . I have a Maruti diesel car, which gives around 20 miles. My only concern is about safety.
But what options does an end user now have in diesel?
    New car:
    1) Creta or seltos diesel, which is not safe.
    2) Nexon and XUV300 safe, but those are compact, and the drive is not that great.
    2) Jeep Compass, harrier and safari They have 8-10 in city and 13-14 on highway. Also, Jeep have higher maintenance
    3) The XUV 700, Thar, and Scorpion have the same mileage as above.
    Old Car:
    1) Very rare to find a good German car.
    2) If we get a good car, we are lucky; otherwise, the parts will be expensive.
    Petrol option:
If you buy 1.5 tsi the new cost is very high, and when you try to buy a top model, you feel why not to buy a Scorprio N or a Harrier?
But if you buy a used 1.5 tsi around 15-16 you will get a less used car, so there are fewer chances of a very bad car, and it will be in warranty.
You will save on cost and 1.5 giving 11-14 mileage looks like the best deal in current scenario.
Please ignore if any misinformation in this and guide me if i am making right decision by buying used 1.5 tsi or should buy new diesel car since finding safe diesel car with good mileage is like finding diamond 😀
