They have something like 200 videos to choose from now, many covers of classic songs in all genres of music, many great original songs written and cowritten by the members of the group, and they've also collaborated with some of the greats, Kenny Rogers, Alabama, the Oak Ridge Boys, Don McLean (on the 50th anniversary of his song American Pie at his request they released a new version with him in it), and Lee Greenwood among others, plus they have often collaborated with many younger new artists in their tours. Austin Brown is the high tenor, Rob Lundquist is their lead tenor, Tim Foust that deep bass but with 5 octaves and can sing up in the tenor ranges too, the unsung member of the group Adam Chance who sings tenor, baritone and fills in the bass when Tim is singing in the higher ranges, and then of course the human drum and instrument machine that is founding member, Adam Rupp. Not only can they sing fantastically, they all retain a sense of humor and many of their videos are fun and funny to go along with the song, and they just come across as 5 down to earth good guys who are sharing their talents with the world.
Adam Rupp does the drum sounds and harmonica sound in this song, so that has to be layered. He can loop it in concert. He sings tenor when he has a chance. You can't do those harmonica sounds without a good high tenor range. He can also do synth drums and other EDM sounds. The jet plane is a trip. They can all do a little beatboxing, but Adam does most of it. Chance (Adam Chance) sings baritone with a nice mid-tenor range and covers bass when Tim is on a lead. He was doing the jaw harp sound using something like Tibetan throat singing. He is the last one on camera where you can see him doing it for about 1 second. Chris Rupp was the baritone up until about 2016 or so. He was a founding member with Adam Rupp, but had some other goals to pursue. Tim Foust is obviously the bass, has a strong baritone range and can do some tenor also. He is one of the lower basses in the business, but not the lowest. Rob Lundquist is the tenor with the big beard and that wonderful country/bluegrass tone. But he can also produce a clean opera baritone/tenor (lyric baritone?) which you can see in Rob and Austin's Nessun Dorma. Austin Brown has most of the tenor lead on this song. He has a nice full low tenor and a really amazing high tenor range. HIs resonance or placement is very different from Rob's. Having these differing textures available to the group is a big part of their success. --- Here are some good choices for your next reaction, by song style --- Traditional/Gospel : How Great Thou Art - 5 part harmony, no percussion. Has one of Adam's few short leads. Boot stomping aggressive Country: Ain't Goin' Down on Facebook. Mad percussion and stuff. Laid back Country: Moonshine. Patriotic: God Bless The USA - one version is just the 5 guys and another is a big shindig with Lee Greenwood, military band and singers. Soldier oriented: Go Rest High On That Mountain or Travelin' Soldier. Tissues are standard issue. Dire Straits anti-war, pro-soldier cover: Brothers In Arms - 5 part, no percussion. Deep, smooth, gorgeous and sad. Pop cover with a family focus Ed Sheeran cover: Castle On The Hill. Old Pop/Rock with lots of shared leads: American Pie - 50th anniversary remake with Don Mclean. Humorous: Brother, Workin' For A Livin', Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. 60's/70's Folk Rock covers: Listen To The Music, Helplessly Hoping. 60's Soul: When A Man Loves A Woman. Old Country Classic: Crazy.
I love watching reactors watch this video for the first time - it’s almost like seeing them for the first time all over again! I, too, loved the version from the movie, but this version completely captured my attention. This is the first song I heard from them and was immediately hooked. You are so screwed (but in a good way), as this rabbit hole is deep! And if you react to Home Free, Home Fries (their fans, like myself) will come in droves to point the way and share the journey. But don’t worry, we’re an enthusiastic but friendly bunch.🙃 The usual next songs to watch are Ring of Fire, End of the Road or Folsom Prison Blues. All are very good introductions to Home Free and well worth watching. Let’s introduce you to our boys: Front left is the awesome silky smoothness of lead tenor Rob “the beard” Lundquist. A few of my favorites featuring him are End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color and Bless the Broken Road. Back left is newest member, baritone Adam Chance, called Chance due to another Adam in the group. I love him in Sea Chaney Medley, Winter Song, One Man Band, Helplessly Hoping, and Castle on the Hill. He took over when co-founding member Chris Rupp left the group in 2016 on good terms. You’ll see Chris in older videos like Ring of Fire (which also features Avi Kaplan, formerly of Pentatonix). Chance is the one doing the mouth harp here. Front center is the amazing high tenor Austin Brown. Watch When a Man Loves a Woman. That’s all that needs to be said. Seriously. Back right is founding member, beatboxer, tenor, and vocal percussionist Adam “Freak of nature” Rupp. His talent covers not only drums and the “no monica”, but extends into animal/bug noises (woodpecker and flying insects in this video) and DJ-style record scratching. He has several “drum solos” out there, but my favorite is the one where he’s wearing a red plaid shirt. He doesn’t usually sing solos, but you can hear his voice in How Great Thou Art, which is probably the most beautiful version I’ve ever heard. To highlight Adam, I recommend Ain’t Goin’ Down (only on Home Free’s FB page due to some copyright issues, but can be reacted on YT), Listen to the Music, and one of my personal favorites, Do You Hear What I Hear, which he arranged. His beatboxing is amazing in everything they do! Last, but certainly not least, front right is basso profundo Tim Foust, apparently part dragon with a 5+ octave range. His low notes have literally blown speakers. I love him in Hillbilly Bone, In the Blood, O Holy Night, Brothers in Arms, and Mary Did You Know (and so, so many others!). He also did a collaboration with Peter Hollens (another a cappella singer) on Misty Mountains (from The Hobbit) that is amazing! To see their funny side (and they are all hams to a certain degree), see The Butts Remix, Champagne Tastes (written by Tim), Cold Hard Cash (written by Austin), Full of Cheer, Country Fried Pop, and All About the Bass. To hear their exquisite harmonies, How Great Thou Art, Do You Hear What I Hear, and Brothers in Arms. Home Fries recommend that you don’t see Mayday until you’re familiar with the guys and know their (usual) roles. Any song they do won’t disappoint … Home Fries call their covers “upgrades.” They lean country, but do pretty much every genre (even opera!). This group has 5 tenors, 5 beatboxers, 2 bases, and 2 baritones. These guys have no egos and choose who leads by who they think does the best job. They are all genuinely funny, down to earth guys who can make you laugh hysterically in one song and cry in the next with their amazing talent. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! It’s deep, but you’ll never want to escape!
Tim has said that Adam has the widest range making all of his noices so he´s also a baritone and bass Tim pointed out that in SOLD it sounded like he hit an A0 but it was him and Adam throath singing . Love from Denmark 🥰🥰😘😘
Agree with all above, but I'd add Cover Me Up as a Chance must listen, it's my favourite! Also, Helplessly Hoping for an astonishing harmony masterclass from the guys x
New sub, came by for the Home Free reaction! Yes, more of these 5 very talented guys please! They all have beautiful singing voices, and they can all beat box too. But their beatboxer/ vocal percussionist Adam Rupp is IMO is the best in the biz! They have so many great songs to check out and react to, in all different genres. They do covers/ upgrades ( what us Home Fries, call their covers). And they also have originals, some written for them and some written by them. Some of my favorite originals Dreamer, Understand, Save the World, what's left of my heart, Road Sweet Road. But they are so good, any song you choose will amaze you. Welcome to your Home Free journey! Thank you for your reaction!
The bass singer, Tim goes much lower than what you just listed to. He has been known to blow out subwoofers in the live concerts. He has a five octave range, and can also go very high.
That was Adam Rupp - beatboxer percussionist extraordinaire - playing the "nomonica". 😆 These guys are extremely talented. Definitely my favorite a cappella vocal group. Generally speaking, if you don't see instruments then there are no instruments. If you like country then I think you'll love their version of "Take Me Home Country Roads". Other suggestions; "End of the Road", "When a Man Loves a Woman", "In the Blood", "Brothers in Arms", "Helplessly Hoping", and "How Great Thou Art". They just dropped an original last friday called "So Long Dixie" -it's very good. Btw, fans of Home Free are called home fries -----> 🍟 Thanks!
Home free has a huge following ( home fries) Be prepared to get a lot of followers if you promise to do more! Adam Rupp: human drum kit Tim Foust: bass ( but has 5 octave range) Rob Lundquist ( bearded guy) lovely tenor Austin Brown: ( first guy singing) high strong tenor Adam Chance ( goes by Chance) baritone/ bass. Newest member Older songs will have Chris Rupp instead of Chance who was a founder of the group along with his beatboxer brother Adam Rupp.
Home Free is the best acapella band out there. Every single thing you hear is coming from their voices. They all sing they all can beatbox but not to the extent of Adam Rupp the beatboxer lol. Subscribed for more Home Free 🤘🤠🤘 put out Home Free videos and the Home Fries will come! 🏠🍟😁
New sub for the homefree gents. Awesome on every genre they do. Most "real" group of musicians/artists out there. Welcome to the ride that is HomeFree!
Welcome to the Home Free Rabbit Hole. This group is so fun to listen to and follow. Seeing them live is like nothing else the bass will rattle your soul with his low notes . New Sub.
Great reaction, if you'd like to hear the bass Tim Foust, as well the baritone/bass Adam Chance (he goes by Chance since the beatboxer is also Adam) do the lead, I recommend watching "Brothers in Arms". Just subbed for more Home Free. The fans of HF are called Home Fries, & I promise if you continue to go down this rabbit hole of 150+ videos, they will flock to your channel in droves, we're extremely loyal to our guy's. 🍟❤️
Home Free is the real deal. Their beatboxer is amazing. Adam was doing the drums, harmonica and other sounds with his mouth. Chance (also in the back) was doing the mouth harp sound. They can all beatbox to a degree. They are country but sing all genres of music. They do sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own songs. Their albums Dive Bar Saints and So Long Dixie have lots of originals on them. Try Adam Rupp Drum Solo (2015) to see Adam and just a microphone as he does drums! Try Helplessly Hoping, Brothers in Arms, Brother, In the Blood to hear more great harmonies. Good reaction MV!
You 100% want to check out more of Home Free. Phenomenal group and so uniquely talented. Plus they are really down-to-earth and they can be so hilarious, too. You’re in for a real treat with these guys. FYI Tim (the bass) can go much lower than, too. And he can also sing tenor and above. I’ve never heard anything like it. Enjoy your Home Free journey.
As you listen you will lear each of the five take lead at certain times. I heard them when they won the TV competition show “Sing Off” and saw the live at The Grand Ole Opry. They are very talented.
No instruments were used. They were on the NBC show and The Sing Off and won the season they were on . My favorite a cappella group they have many originals and do a lot of covers check out Can’t Stop The Feeling, When A Man Loves A Woman, The Butts Remix some of my favorite originals Dive Bar Saints, Catch Me If You Can, Understand, Road Sweet Road here’s a few to get you started
These guys are my favorite a capela group. Love their Butts Remix (Medley) oldies but goodie covering rock, rap, and country in one song. Thanks for the reaction
Welcome to the rabbit hole. I see that Home Free smile sneaking in there. 1 song down, over 150 to go. I suggest The Driver, Helplessly Hoping or Understand, which is an original from their latest album. An occasional instrument shows up, but you can clearly see it when it does. No instruments this time, though. Just the amazing Adam Rupp doing his vocal percussion. Happy listening!
Please thank your brother for me! As you can tell by the preceding comments, us Home Fries love our guys❤ and you will too-guaranteed! My songs of choice would be to watch their Sing Off videos with the judges comments. Some funny songs: Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, Country Fried Medley, Butts Medley, All About The Bass and all the choices mentioned before me. I also subbed to watch your journey, hold on, its gonna be a blast!
Well, I'm really glad your brother recommended Home Free. This will be a great ride so buckle up. I'm on board for this ride as they are favorites of mine.
“CAREFUL”😢 Home Free has a HUGE and FAITHFUL fan base. Completely A Capella, (all sounds produced by them, no instruments used). They have a catalog of songs of every type, each a surprise, each excellent. Man of Constant Sorrow is most identified to the movie, some will recognize it from an early Bob Dylan cover. The song is actually an old folk song, first recorded around 1915, (true to the words and melody) and then called “The Goodbye Song, or the Farewell Song”. It is the song of a slave bidding farewell to all he knows and loves, before running for freedom. (Listen for the reference to that northern railroad. Now, to totally confuse the “image “, listen to their Butts Medley, then to Brothers in Arms. There is NOTHING they can’t sing. They will grab you … they will give you tears of laughter to tears of sadness, with throat lumps and chills all along the way. You have stepped into a velvet rabbit hole, welcome, enjoy the slide!
Trust me.... seek *these* guys out!! LOL Their arrangements can be so good there are now quite a few songs they've covered which I prefer to the originals. Adam Rupp is a *world-class* beatboxer, Tim Foust is a *world-class* basso profundo (but with a huge range going into tenor), Adam Chance used to sing bass in his old group, but also has a wide range thru baritone into tenor, Rob Lundquist (beard & glasses) is a tenor who can bel canto the shizzle out of Nessun Dorma (seriously- check that vid out sometime!) or go pretty full-on gospel depending on circumstance, & Austin Brown can belt those really high notes with the best of them, & writes some great songs too. Basically, they're like an a capella supergroup! I wouldn't get too hung up on them being 100% "country" btw- Rob & Adam are Minnesotans, while the other 3 are from Georgia, Alabama, & Texas. The country-leaning thing seems to have come into play as they were winning their season of "The Sing Off", where producers felt being "the country a capella group" would help them compete. I'll let the full-on Home Fries fill up these comments with specific suggestions. Although I will suggest you have a box of tissues to hand when you get around to their cover of Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms" - it's the most moving vocals-only piece I've ever heard. I'm a stereotypical stoney-faced stoic auld Scotsman, so if it can have *me* tearing-up.... well, I've warned you! ;)
I agree with @grannymitch6707 That was a great breakdown and much appreciated by us all..😉... Keep reacting to Home Free and your viewership totals will skyrocket... Nice to see a new Home Free reactor...🌿🌿🌿
They do a lot of covers, but they have a lot of originals, including their latest that dropped last Friday, named "So Long Dixie" from the pen of that very deep bass guy, and two other guys, But it is so very pretty, but the lyrics are so very deep....give it a whirl got nothing to lose !!!
Great reaction----eyebrow raise @3:49 😄😄I'm sure everyone else will be filling you in so I'll just say listening to them always leaves me feeling good. Subbed for more Home Free.
New sub here for more Home Free reactions. Loved your reaction on this one. Amazing they do this without instruments but they do, I saw them Live last Dec and they did this song, It's even more amazing live!!
This group is revolutionizing acapella. It is so hard to remember that there are no instruments in use. They have so many great songs. A relatively new favorite of mine is "Brothers in Arms". Although I love their incredible beat boxer Adam Rupp, that song has amazing 5 part harmonies instead of beat boxing.
They have many great songs to react to, here are some examples Helplessly Hoping One Man Band Never gonna give you up Folsom Prison Blues The Gambler How great Thou Art Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks And here some recs for specific singers Austin Brown (high tenor) - skinny guy When a Man loves a woman Crazy Moonshine Meet in the middle Rob Lundquist (tenor) - teddy bear with glasses Blue Ain't your color End of the Road Spaceship 9 to 5 Adam Chance (bass/bariton) - joined 2016, goes by Chance Some Girls Do Cover Me Up Dive Bar Saints I can't outrun you Tim Foust (bass) - longer dark hair or shorter gray hair Hillbilly Bone Champagne Taste (on a beer budget) Brothers in Arms Everybody walkin' this land
New sub. Home Free has 3 basses, 5 tenors, 3 baritones and 5 beatboxers/vocal percussionists encompassed in 5 men. Everyone but Adam Rupp (beatboxer) takes the lead at some point. Adam has only one solo moment singing that I know if and that's in How Great Thou Art.
Great reaction. You may be standing on the edge of the Home Free rabbit hole, if you decide to jump in you'll be warmly welcomed. Suggestions: "Ring of Fire" Johnny Cash cover, "Folsom Prison Blues" Johnny Cash cover and "American Pie" recorded with original singer/Song writer Mr. Don McLean, he contacted Home Free to record the 50th anniversary of his iconic song with him. Subbed to see if you take the leap into the rabbit hole. Thanks for the joy.
You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney. Some of my favorites are "Take Me Home Country Roads", "In The Blood", "Ring Of Fire", "Blue Ain't Your Color", "How Great Thou Art", "Elvira", "Hillbilly Bone", "American Pie", "Brother In Arms", "One Man Band", "Listen To The Music", "Sea Shanty Medley" etc.
Home Free has a lot of songs that are frequently recommended (just read all the posts before and after mine) so I want to mention some that aren't usually mentioned. Several of them are taken from their live shows, filmed by home fries from the audience, often showing the groups goofy side. Home Free Guilty Pleasures has several different versions (different venues, different crowd) but the one that shows up first is the "hilariously derailed" one where they get the giggle and go off script. Home Free Songs That Didn't Make the Cut has 2 versions that I've seen; same show, just view and sound from the left or the right. And lastly I want to recommend an unplanned number for the guys when a concert got cut due to very nasty weather. They follow the crowd to a tent before realizing the show was definitely over. There are several versions of HOME FREE How Great Thou Art (Kearney MO) 6/17/17, all from different spots around the group. I could go on for pages and page, but I'm going to stop with the usual plea: don't watch Mayday until you're familiar with who is who and their voices.
@@minneyruth Hi, there. Me again. I just wanted to add a couple more live videos with different versions that I meant to include before but couldn't find. Start with their non-stage version of Dolly Parton's 9 to 5, which leads into Home Free - 9 to 5 + Beatboxing Breakdown, October 27, 2015 and HOME FREE "9 to 5" MN Zoo 6-12-2016. Same skit/number, just one with Chris and one with Chance. Another great one with several versions is What We're Thinking While We're Singing. My favorite of those is titled BHH + WWTWWS, a longer skit with two songs and a special guest on stage for a photo op
New subscriber here. Home Free is a deep rabbit hole, however, I can assure you that you will not regret the journey. They have originals. Check out their album: So Long Dixie
Thank you so much for the Home Free reaction! They are amazing and diverse. Nice humble guys who are friends and enjoy having a good time together. They can be heartbreaking and hysterical, but always mind blowing. I hit subscribe and look forward to more HF reactions! 🤗❤️
LOL! I thought my noise cancelling headphones weren't working right and I thought I was hearing my dog snoring. Paused the video and it stopped. My dog was outside just being a dog. Funny that they sounded exactly alike.
This was also the first cover I heard Home Free sing. The guys are not just superb at this, but they're truly decent people and they all like each other. Each time they make a video (now about two per month), you don't know what to expect except that you're in for a treat. Their recent album is pretty much all theirs with several members writing songs but mostly Tim and Austin. They have a way of making almost everything they do, better than the original! During the Pandemic, I started watching more on RUclips and had just seen the movie this song was in. This is a GREAT first song to hear from these guys. I was able to search and investigate them pretty well. I've heard many reactors say, they're going down the, "rabbit hole" with Home Free and I've seen them quickly become full fledged "Home Fries". All I want to tell you now is pay attention to the great fans that respond and strap on your boots, cause you're in for quite a cool ride my friend!
The version from O brother where art thou is NOT the original. The original was recorder in the 20s or 30s, can't remember exactly, and has been recorded many times.
They do make all of those sounds, including the "nominica". Welcome to the rabbit hole and amazing talent of Home Free. They are all so immensely talented.
Home Free is incredible. Everything they do is great. And although they are a Country A-cappela group, they can really sing all genres. They really all have great voices with their own specialties. Even Adam Rupp who started the group with his brother Chris Rupp. Chris left the group in 2016 to go solo but also to start other projects with his sister, among others. Adam Rupp-Beatboxer but is actually an inhuman freaking good mouth artist. Tim Foust- Deep bass but also as a tenor and everything in between is possible. Austin Brown-High tenor with his great runs and high notes. Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses)-Tenor, with a voice like velvet and so much soul. Adam Chance (back left, who is called Chance) - Baritone/ Bass, a voice so smooth and sexy. And who here also makes the Jaw harp sound. There is no lead singer in Home Free. They look at every song whose voice suits it best, the best harmony, no egos, no rivalries, great personalities etc. Besides, they can all beatbox (see their live performance 9to5). .. This is one of the many covers they do in addition to various originals, and each one is just amazing. Take the time to discover Home Free because it will be a great tour. For me they are number 1 A-Cappella group
Home Free has been around since 2001. Started by Adam Rupp (beatboxer) and his brother Chris while they were in college. Over the years, members changed as you would think. In 2013 they were on the competition show "The Sing Off" and won. At that time it was Adam Rupp(Beatboxer), Chris Rupp(baritone/tenor), Rob Lundquist (tenor), Austin Brown (high tenor) and Tim Foust (bass). In 2016, Chris decided to leave the group to pursue his own career in singing and producing. That is when Adam Chance (known as Chance) joined as the new baritone/bass. Between these 5 gentlemen there are 5 beatboxers (1 master), 5 tenors, 2 bass (possibly 3) 5 baritones, 1 opera singer, 2 musical theater singers and 2 (perhaps 3) song writers. Not to mention that most also play various instruments and have amazing abilities as music arrangers. So with this assortment of talents, you never quite know what you will get. They are dedicated to their fans, which mean their fans are dedicated to them as well. They also have a great sense of humor that comes out wonderfully in so many songs. The rabbit hole is wide and deep and a blast to explore!
Home Free is the best--period. It's easy to forget they are completely acapella and make all "instrumental" sounds themselves. In this song they are making a distinct southern (country blues) presentation--it definitely fits the lyrics of the song. Chance doing the jaw harp sound really sets the stage for this song's story, which Austin's twang fits phenomenally. Tim's bass line completely grounds the harmonies and Adam's voice percussion simply cannot be beat. This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle ANY other genre just as amazingly❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Some of my favorites are "Working for a Living", "Good 'Ol Country Harmony", "Land of the Free", "Remember This", "Elvira" (with the Oak Ridge Boys), "Undivided", "Ain't Goin' Down 'Til the Sun Comes Up" (which is not on YT--it's on their official Facebook page), "Listen to the Music", "What's Left of My Heart", "Understand", and "Road Sweet Road" 😍!
I too tried so hard to find that harmonica...at least five times before I was convinced.🤗. These guys are fantastic... whether it be a cover or an original piece, each one you watch is actually better than the one before. Their arrangements, harmonies and the fun they have are better than any other. There are four singers and a vocal percussionist extraordinaire, Adam Rupp. He also has videos of drum solos from various concerts. Their covers of Boyz2Men End of the Road or Percy Sledge's When a Man Loves a Woman and Keith Urban's Blue Ain't Your Color are fantastic and actually upgrades rather than just a cover. Their harmonies and arrangements in Brothers in Arms, In The Blood and How Great Thou Art are phenomenal. For pure fun check out their Butts Medley and Country Fried Pop Medley. You're gonna love this journey down the Home Free Rabbit Hole!
Welcome to the deepest Rabbit hole you're ever going to go down.. these boys speak in volume . They are just Talented beyond this World.. There are so many songs you have to hear..my God they have hundreds of them.. Welcome to the Home Fry family..🏡🆓🏡🍟
Chris Stapleton & Patty Loveless "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" 2022 CMA Awards is really nice since you like that Bluegrass vibe. Great tribute to both their fathers. Anything by the Home Free is already good.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! This one of the best acapella groups around. All the sounds you hear are from the human voice. They have so many songs to choose from. You will like In the Blood, Hillbilly Bone. They do many different genres. Have fun going through the Home Free rabbit hole.
They all sing and they can all make different sounds with their voices. They have a couple of songs where it’s all vocals, and no instrument sounds at all. There are other good A capella groups, but these guys with all of their sounds are on another level. I won’t spoil it, but wait till you hear a couple of them doing solo covers. You will be totally shocked by one of them.
New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas! They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Robb Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!
Love your reaction to Home Free. I just went to Dallas to see them in concert for the 8th time. They are even better live. Tim's bass notes will vibrate your body and your chair. He has been know to blow out speakers. New subscriber. Since you said you like good singing voices, I recommend you listen to Dimash sing "Stranger". He has at least a 6 octave range and sings in 15 languages. He is working on his Doctorate in Music. Believe me when I say you will be amazed. See you next time.
AndAnd...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so fucking doomed. We'll save you a chair. You're about to be buried in Home Fries. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He's a world-class vocal percussionist and there're good reasons he's called a "Freak of Nature" and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam's incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete's sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), and his drum solos. For more of Tim's seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). For Chance's smooth baritone, check out Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome.. basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. For Rob's soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) For Austin's soaring power tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.) For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you'll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim's mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob and Austin singing Nessun Dorma. You'll need smelling salts after that one. Don't miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they'll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother). Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup
they are probably my favorite performers, i see them any time they are within 300 miles of me. actually bought vip tickets for my daughters amd me to do the meet and greet with them. they have A LOT of original music plus do covers of all kinds of music but bill themselves as the world's only country a capella group. adam, the vocal percussionists is unbelievable. you should really check out some of his "drum solo" videos. all the members are just really great guys who rea;lly love their fans. you can't go wrong with any of their music
A tad older then 4 years, a Folk song, first recorded around 1915 and then called “The Goodbye Song “ and also “The Farewell Song “ is the farewell of a slave to all he knows and loves before running for freedom. Listen for the line about riding that northern railroad and railroad. Once hearing that line, the song , then, makes a lot of sense. This version is very close to the original, both in words and tempo. (P.S. Yes, ALL SOUNDS are made by them, …. No instruments needed with these guys!)
It was written in the early 1900s and covered by Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and most recently in the movie you mentioned. However, Home Free's is my favourite rendition of it. Austin Brown (lead singer on this) and Tim Foust (the bass) are both songwriters and have written or co-written originals for Home Free (among them - Tim: "Remember This" and "Snow Globe", Austin: "Love Me Like That" and "Save the World") Thanks for playing it from a new subscriber!
Adam Rupp (white tee shirt, back row) is the harmonica and drum backup. Adam Chance (second bass, back row, black vest,) lends the overtone Jews harp to the intro and outplay.
Nice reaction! I been fallowing Home Free for about a yr. Home Free was formed in 2001 I believe, of the 5 members the beatboxer Adam Rupp and his brother Chris Rupp were the founders of the group. Chris Rupp left the group( not sure on the date) but was replaced with Adam Chance. Home Free has 14 albums and over 140 videos (I lost track) of covers and original songs! They can do about any genres. Home Free has a creative way on covers to add a Home Free Twist, every member has a CHANCE to shine depending on the song. All members are modest group of guys that only do feel good songs. IT's a rabbit hole of talent your following! Home Free-(BUTTS MEDLEY) remix is a cover mashup about 6-7 songs about A$$ but done in a very tasteful way. You will LOL! Home Free-(Listen To The Music) a cover from the Dobbie Brothers. Adam Rupp shows he's talent. FYI: Home Free fans call each other "HOME FRYS"
These guys can lead you down a long rabbit hole. They are amazing. I've seen them live twice and they are at least as good live as they are on their videos. And there are no instruments. Adam Rupp does most of the beat boxing. Check out his drum solo.
When they do this live they use a looper for the jaw harp, repetative drum track, and doh-doh-doo backing vocal. So at times one will hear six or seven voices (I don't think it ever gets to eight). Their original songs (that I recall of the top) are Champagne Taste (on a beer budget), Leaving Dixie??, and Full of Cheer. To see them having fun try The Butts Remix. To hear all but the baritone get a lead singing (even the beat boxer) try How Great Thou Art. And to hear the baritone take the lead try Some Girls Do. Whatever you do, stay away from Mayday until you can look at a face in the group and hear the voice in your head, only then will you be as impressed with Mayday as you can be.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. Yes, other than a very few, all their songs are acapella. The first singer is Austin Brown, a high tenor. The second is Rob Lundquist, the second tenor. Tim Faust is "the bass" with a 5 octave range. Known to blow out speakers with his low range. (Check out "Misty Mountains", with Peter Hollins and "My Maria", with Austin Brown to experience both ends of his vocal spectrum. Another versatile singer is Adam Chance, the baritone, who covers bass when Tim's in his high range. Last but not least is "the champion beat boxer" Adam Rupp. Who is a one man orchestra, who can also sing tenor.
Welcome to the Fries, LOVE YOUR REACTION AND THEY HAVE SO MANY GREAT SONG ONE OF MY FAVORITE ITS WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMEN, I HOPE TYOUR REACTION. HUGS FROM NORWAY. O SEE
its true Adam Rupp as a kid swallowed a complete Drum kit, a synthisizer, and a high fidelity sound generator, on a dare. what is really true is that Adam Rupp is a 2 time world champion beat boxer. and they don't showcase Adam as a singer, but he can sing with the rest of the group as well. all the members of Home Free can beat box. that can give Adam more freedom to add other sounds for that richer experence.. like in this song. Adam chance (Chance) the baratone was doing the jaw harp while Adam Rupp carried the rest of the back up sounds and beat. they are a professional group. they go over a new song and figure out which one is the best fit for the songs lead and how to break it up for each member. its the song that dictates who sings what part not a members Ego.
Great reaction always love new reactors when they hear Adam Rupp with nomonica as we Home Fries call it😄 and Tim's Bass the the first singer is Austin Brown High Tenor the one with Beard and Glasses is Rob Lundquist also high tenor Adam Rupp beat boxer and co founder with his brother Chris Rupp who left in 2016 Tim Foust who is Bass BUT CAN also sing as high tenor, and Adam Chance baritone/bass fills in bass for Tim when he sings, Adam chance was doing the Jaw harp sound or as some people say a didgeridoo
More like 400 plus individual work. All amazing!
--- Here are some good choices for your next reaction, by song style ---
Traditional/Gospel : How Great Thou Art - 5 part harmony, no percussion.
Let’s introduce you to our boys:
Front left is the awesome silky smoothness of lead tenor Rob “the beard” Lundquist.
Well said! Hope to welcome a new Home Fry. I joined about a year ago!
Yes to everything Granny just said...they are the best
Tim has said that Adam has the widest range making all of his noices so he´s also a baritone and bass Tim pointed out that in SOLD it sounded like he hit an A0 but it was him and Adam throath singing . Love from Denmark 🥰🥰😘😘
Agree with all above, but I'd add Cover Me Up as a Chance must listen, it's my favourite! Also, Helplessly Hoping for an astonishing harmony masterclass from the guys x
This song is well over 100 years old, first recorded in the early 1900s under a different name.😎😎😎😎
Welcome to the rabbit hole
Adam Rupp: human drum kit
Tim Foust: bass ( but has 5 octave range)
Rob Lundquist ( bearded guy) lovely tenor
Austin Brown: ( first guy singing) high
strong tenor
Adam Chance ( goes by Chance) baritone/ bass. Newest member
Older songs will have Chris Rupp instead of Chance who was a founder of the group along with his beatboxer brother Adam Rupp.
The greatest!! You’ll never be disappointed in any songs you decide to start out with! EVERY one is perfection 🥰🎶
Welcome to the Home Free Rabbit Hole. This group is so fun to listen to and follow. Seeing them live is like nothing else the bass will rattle your soul with his low notes . New Sub.
This song was originally written and song in 1915.
I’ll subscribe for more Home Free. A new original song they just released is So long Dixie… already one of my favorites
❤🤠HOMEFREE🤠❤
Prepare to be amazed by these guys.
The 2 gentleman in the back were making the sounds
Welcome to the rabbit hole. These guys are super talented. Pick anything they do and it's fire.
Always fun to see someone realize that Adam is playing the Nomonica for the first time. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole my friend!
Great reaction. Welcome to Home Free!🏠🍟
As you listen you will lear each of the five take lead at certain times. I heard them when they won the TV competition show “Sing Off” and saw the live at The Grand Ole Opry. They are very talented.
Need to watch Adam Rupp Drum Solo witch is the beboxer in Home Free! You will be Amazed 💕
So Glad You Are Reacting to Home Free ❤
Please thank your brother for me! As you can tell by the preceding comments, us Home Fries love our guys❤ and you will too-guaranteed!
My songs of choice would be to watch their Sing Off videos with the judges comments. Some funny songs: Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, Country Fried Medley, Butts Medley, All About The Bass and all the choices mentioned before me. I also subbed to watch your journey, hold on, its gonna be a blast!
Yes! Your brother has great taste, Home Fries UNITE!
Well, I'm really glad your brother recommended Home Free. This will be a great ride so buckle up. I'm on board for this ride as they are favorites of mine.
More Home Free please!
“CAREFUL”😢
Home Free has a HUGE and FAITHFUL fan base.
LOL
Their arrangements can be so good there are now quite a few songs they've covered which I prefer to the originals.
I'm a stereotypical stoney-faced stoic auld Scotsman, so if it can have *me* tearing-up.... well, I've warned you! ;)
They have a great sense of humour too, check out their BIG BUTT'S MELODY. Plus check out their beat boxers Adam Rupps drum solo.
I just subscribed for your reactions to Homefree! Their fans are called "homefries" !
I agree with
@grannymitch6707
That was a great breakdown and much appreciated by us all..😉...
The album list 4 writers for that song.
Another song where Adam sings with no beatboxing is a beautiful rendition of CSN's Helplessly Hoping.
@Steve Burns@@nightthornkvala94132 .....and How Great Thou Art.
You got a thumbs up for the dog snoring in the background!...LOL
They have many great songs to react to, here are some examples
Helplessly Hoping
One Man Band
Never gonna give you up
Folsom Prison Blues
The Gambler
How great Thou Art
Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks
And here some recs for specific singers
Austin Brown (high tenor) - skinny guy
When a Man loves a woman
Crazy
Moonshine
Meet in the middle
Rob Lundquist (tenor) - teddy bear with glasses
Blue Ain't your color
End of the Road
Spaceship
9 to 5
Adam Chance (bass/bariton) - joined 2016, goes by Chance
Some Girls Do
Cover Me Up
Dive Bar Saints
I can't outrun you
Tim Foust (bass) - longer dark hair or shorter gray hair
Hillbilly Bone
Champagne Taste (on a beer budget)
Brothers in Arms
Everybody walkin' this land
❤️💯
@@nightthornkvala94132 thank you so much 🥰
New subscriber here.
Subbed for more Home Free! Home Fries will follow you down the fun rabbit hole - have fun!
Listen to the music, Brothers in Arms, when a man loves a woman, all their stuff is great you cant fo wrong with anything they do
OMG!! 😂🤣 I thought I was crazy!! I can hear your dog snoring!!! 🤣😂❤️
LOL! I thought my noise cancelling headphones weren't working right and I thought I was hearing my dog snoring. Paused the video and it stopped. My dog was outside just being a dog. Funny that they sounded exactly alike.
🤣🤣 I heard that too
@@normaleedy7141 🤣
Liked and subscribed. Love these guy's so much ❤️
This was also the first cover I heard Home Free sing.
More Home Free please! Will sub for more of "my" boys!
Ring Of Fire a must
They do make all of those sounds, including the "nominica".
This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle ANY other genre just as amazingly❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Some of my favorites are "Working for a Living", "Good 'Ol Country Harmony", "Land of the Free", "Remember This", "Elvira" (with the Oak Ridge Boys), "Undivided", "Ain't Goin' Down 'Til the Sun Comes Up" (which is not on YT--it's on their official Facebook page), "Listen to the Music", "What's Left of My Heart", "Understand", and "Road Sweet Road" 😍!
You need to check out their rendition of Ring of Fire! Tim wasn't even low in this one!
Gotta see Ring of Fire with Avi Kaplan from Pentatonics.
They are amazing! Love “In the Blood” and the original “What’s left of my heart “!
There are other good
A capella groups, but these guys with all of their sounds are on another level. I won’t spoil it, but wait till you hear a couple of them doing solo covers. You will be totally shocked by one of them.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. It’s a beautiful, fun place, with loyal fans in the Home Fries.
Check out Folsom Prison Blues
(Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.)
For Austin's soaring power tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.)
For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget.
For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.)
For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne.
(Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.”
You are doomed, Home Fry.
Home Free forever!! Geniuses!! Just as good live!!!!!
Home Free is the best Acapella group. These guys are so talented they can sing any genre. CK out Ring of Fire
Thanks for exploring Home Free. They always blow me away with their talent!! Always here for more.
Home Fry here! Subbing for more HF reactions. In my opinion, the best acapella group out there. My favorite group (with or without instruments)!!
Great reaction! Welcome to the land of Home Free, when you react to Home Free the home fries show up...
Welcome to the rabbit hole! They never disappoint. #homefries
All five beatbox, bass Tim has a 5 octive range
Subing to watch you discover Home Free! Awesome reaction ‼️
I love the dog snoring in the back group lol :)
Welcome to the Fries, LOVE YOUR REACTION AND THEY HAVE SO MANY GREAT SONG ONE OF MY FAVORITE ITS WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMEN, I HOPE TYOUR REACTION. HUGS FROM NORWAY. O SEE
The snoring in the background of this video is very cute 😂 sounds like my cat!
its true Adam Rupp as a kid swallowed a complete Drum kit, a synthisizer, and a high fidelity sound generator, on a dare. what is really true is that Adam Rupp is a 2 time world champion beat boxer. and they don't showcase Adam as a singer, but he can sing with the rest of the group as well. all the members of Home Free can beat box. that can give Adam more freedom to add other sounds for that richer experence.. like in this song.
Song published in 1912 and made popular in 2000 movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
Union Station sang the movie music.
They are so good it’ll make a preacher cuss!
They just dropped a new song called So Long Dixie. It is an original & really should be playing on Country radio stations across this country!
Love this❤
