You're one of the first reactors to experience this. Whether listening to this, decades back when first released, or now, always brings tears. Rob's sweet tenor, perfectly complemented by Austin when he chimes in. Both blend beautifully with Don and his subtle guitar. It was interesting to watch how your body language and facial expression changed as you got deeper into the song. It does take one on a bit of a journey.
Love this version with both Don and the guys! I think Don still sounds pretty much the same as he did back in his earlier years. I think the harmonies were stunning! Rob and Austin sounded fantastic! Appreciate your review. That’s sweet that your mom sang this to you when you were younger. It’s a great song!
Don McClean is an icon and this song is so poignant, sad, and also beautiful. Love that Home Free and McClean collaborated again, and it turned out beautifully.
The original came out in 1971! I was in high school and just fell in love with the pain and understanding in the lyrics. It always makes me tear up, and this time was no different. Thank you for such a great reaction to one of my favorite songs.
This is such a beautiful song, and it is so cool to see that that they got to do this one with him too!!❤❤❤ The harmonies are so awesome with Don and Rob’s solo is quite beautiful in this also Austin’s parts fit very well. I love how they fade into the painting at the end and then come out looking at it in the museum! Such a great arrangement!❤❤ Thanks for sharing your reaction!!❤❤
You are one of the first reactors to get to this new release. This is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.
Vincent sold only one painting during his lifetime. After his death, and of his brother Theo, his sister in law went on a mission to get his work famous...
There is an episode of the beloved show "Doctor. Who" when the Doctor time traveled back to Vincent's life just before he died. It's worth a watch if you haven't seen it!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this as much as I did. Vincent suffered from depression most of his life but still produced such beauty. They just made me fall in love with this song all over again. Have you seen that they did "American Pie" with Don McLean also. It was incredible too.
Lovely song. Starry Night is one of my favorite paintings by Van Gogh. Such a tragic life. The guys have been teasing us on Instagram with this song. All of them were re-imagined as a Van Gogh-like portrait. Thanks, Josh, for a lovely reaction. 😊
This was simply beautiful. They all sounded amazing. Don and Rob and Austin complimented each other very well. And the background vocals were fantastic
Stunning! Don sounded great and yes it came out in the 70’s. Rob sounded wonderful and the collaboration was beautiful. I loved the video too with all the paintings…and they ended up as a painting…how clever! Austin won’t leave until fall sometime. So glad he could be in this one. Love it!! Good one Josh!🤩😃😍
This was beautiful and when Rob came in a get that feeling he lift the song up like Don say (maybe they listen now) Thanks Josh your comment is always so great, take care see you on the next one, hugs from Norway. 🫂🫂💞💞
I love your reactions! This is such a gorgeous yet heartbreaking song, full of wonderfully poetic lyrics.I am so glad Don McClain performed this with them, & I am very glad that Austin was still with them for this. Gonna miss my fav Home Free guy! 😢 He & Rob have voices of angels & it was no different tonight. See you in the next one! 💜
Austin is leaving in the Fall, he will not be doing the Christmas Tour. I love how perfectly Rob and Austin sound with him. I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
This is truly phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! Wow. And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻......💖 💖💖💖💖💖
I'm 64 years old now and soon to be 65 I never understood what this song was about until I visited the luve in Paris in 1982 on leave it was about Vincent Vango the artist wonderful tribute. P.S. I'm sure I butchered his spelling, great reaction man.
I've always loved this song and Home Free managed to make it even better. ( Bonus, we get to hear Adam singing)! Don still sounds wonderful. Thanks for the Home Free reactions
When they collaborated on "American Pie" it was done separately during the Covid lockdowns. It so nice that they can be together for "Vincent". Home Free's harmonies are incomparable & Don McLean is such a masterful lyricist - this song is so deep, it's poetry set to music. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
Kudos to you .. and your mom! You are the only reactor so far that has a clue who Vincent was.. or have ever heard this song.. Just beautiful.. thank you.
Thank you for this reaction! I really enjoy your reaction style. I git the American Pie album when it came out in 1971 and Vincent was instantly my favorite track on it. So cool to now have the HF guys doing it with Don, who indeed sounds fantastic.
Loved your reaction !! I heard this song many many times back in 72, it is amazing how much your perception of a song changes as the years go by. It is such a beautifully written and sung song, so sad I might have been teary eyed, Home Free is just simply Amazing, I love everything they do.
Austin has not had a chance to spend Christmas season at home for so long. He wants to experience all the preparation and celebration with his wife and friends at home.
Yours is the first reaction to this I’ve seen. Vincent is a painfully beautiful song. Or, beautifully painful? I think this is on Don’s new album and he asked the guys to do it with him.
I suspect there's some truth to what you picked up on: the song as a memento to the group's existence with Austin as a member, and perhaps even a tip of the cap to the struggles he and the group went through as he was deciding to leave. Artists are artists, and I wouldn't be surprised if these fellows didn't feel some special connection to Vincent.
Let me preface this statement by saying I love Home Free. Been a fan for years. That being said, I do not like this rendition. Vincent was meant to be sung solo with no background vocals. Singing it solo enhances the lyrics and the meaning behind them. When I hear Don sing it alone, I feel the pain of Van Gogh, the struggle, the despair. This time, I felt none of that. Beautiful video and the boys of course sound good but overall I was disappointed. I know I will be in the minority on this one but this is just my opinion.
I always loved this song, and now I love it even more. The combination of Don and Home Free is magical
Only genius can comprehend genius. Sincere reaction.

Bringin tears! 🥲 Ahhh, the memories! What beautiful voices...All! Thank You!
Sad song...😪

I love hearing Adam actually sing in this song
Don McClean is an icon and this song is so poignant, sad, and also beautiful. Love that Home Free and McClean collaborated again, and it turned out beautifully.
This is so gorgeous. Don McLean actually asked them to back him up on this and the title song on his new album, American Boys. Great showcase for Rob.
Van Gogh is my favorite artist and this is my very favorite song. Many, many memories! Thanks. ;)

So beautiful 😍
Home Free and Don McLean match made in heaven 😊

@beverlykrebs4372 I've never seen even 1 episode of Dr Who, but a friend of mine just told me that. I should catch up on that show, I guess🤔
@@beverlykrebs4372I love that episode...all of the sunflowers 🌻🌻
This is so very beautiful but very sad. Don McLean still has it. Love these boys.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Don McClain sounds great and Home Free work well with him. Rob has such a lovely voice that he is able to fit well another voice
Simply beautiful ~ thanks Josh. 🍟
Rob's voice reminds me of a young Don McLean. Great reaction.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this as much as I did. Vincent suffered from depression most of his life but still produced such beauty. They just made me fall in love with this song all over again. Have you seen that they did "American Pie" with Don McLean also. It was incredible too.

This was done beautifully. I have always loved this song by Don McLean.
Great reaction! It's hard to imagine this song could be upgraded, but the combination of Don McLean and #HomeFree has done it again!! Just WOW!!!
This was simply beautiful. They all sounded amazing. Don and Rob and Austin complimented each other very well. And the background vocals were fantastic
Magnificent! I've always loved this song and I'm glad Don waited for Home Free to accompany him.

I’m 69 and was today years old when I finally understood this was about Van Gogh 🤦🏼♀️
@judithL3100 thanks for the spelling correction I wasn't sure.
This is the best collab that HF has done, imho. And Don's voice has gotten better, I think, because he is more expressive of the emotion in the song.
I've always loved this song and Home Free managed to make it even better. ( Bonus, we get to hear Adam singing)! Don still sounds wonderful. Thanks for the Home Free reactions
Pure magic once again! What songs sound like when the poet sings them.

This is such a sad and beautiful song. As other people commented, not many reactors have done this one. Great reaction, thanks Josh!
My hubby is named Vincent and is a painter. I have been dreaming that Home free covered this for a couple years! Yay! They did it!
That was beautiful!! I love that song and what a wonderful rendition. Great reaction, too.
Don McLean still has it and Home Free did great job with Don. Rob and Austin did good. I love Home Free is my favorite group.
simply beautiful

On my top ten songs of all time❤ Vincent was a person who needed help, Theo tried. Beautiful!
I could have swore it was called "Starry Starry Night"!!
This was absolutely amazing. I grew up listening to these songs so the nostalgia hangs heavy. Your mom had good taste in music. 😊
I can't remember if you have watched their version of "American Pie". It also features Don. Thanks
Wow McClean can still sing beautifully! Vincent has always been one of my favorites. Paints pictures in my mind.
It's such a beautifully written song. One of my favorites. Have your reacted to them doing American Pie with Don McLean yet?
I haven't done that one yet!! Yet! It's gonna happen though! Thanks for the heads up!

So beautiful when all five sing together ... another great collab with Don McClean !
Don is still touring. In fact, he is coming to the Colorado Springs area in June.
Love This Song ❤
I want the painting!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's so dang pretty....Don by the way is 78 almost 79.
Austin will still be touring with them and making music with the guys until their Christmas tour season this year.
Austin has not had a chance to spend Christmas season at home for so long. He wants to experience all the preparation and celebration with his wife and friends at home.
This is so beautiful. I have always loved this song.
meaningfullyvacant, I loved this video so much, I had to hit the like button!
Great reaction, love that they did this song with Don!

I subscribed because of your reaction. Honest and insightful. Great going. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺

Beautiful.
❤❤❤❤❤
Well done!
💖
Same situation for me. My Dad played it on the guitar and had no idea it was called Vincent
I always thought it was called Starry Night & others I know have refered to it as such as well.😂
I swear I remember it being called Starry Starry Night on the record! haha
@@meaningfullyvacant I actually never heard the record version. I only ever heard my dad sing it and play the guitar to it
I trust you will show your mom the video.
Oh she has for sure seen it! I think she commented in here as well!!!
