Crab Stuffed Mushrooms: The Ultimate Appetizer

  • Crab Stuffed Mushrooms is what is on the menu! Brooklyn Brothers are going to show you how to make these fabulous Crab Stuffed Portabella Mushrooms. They are stuffed with sautéed onions, celery, garlic, and then blended with breadcrumbs and crab meat (Blue Claw Crab). Oven bake them until they are golden brown on top for a nice crispy texture. Baby Portabella mushrooms never tasted so good! The taste and smell is phenomenal!
    Chef Dom had been using this recipe a very long time, which was a big seller at his restaurant, Daddy Jack’s New England Lobster Chowder House. Great for catering, appetizer, or hors d 'oeuvres. This is a very simple dish to make and a real crowd pleaser.

    INGREDIENTS:
    30 small Portabella mushrooms
    Olive oil
    6 cloves of chopped garlic
    ½ cup of diced onion
    ½ cup of diced celery
    8 oz. of blue claw crab meat
    1 cup of Italian style breadcrumb
    2 tablespoons of chopped Italian parsley
    Teaspoon of salt
    ¼ teaspoon of black pepper

    I remember when the family traveled back to New York for a bridal shower or a baby shower. These gatherings the day before the event were the food prep day. A hundred plus family and friends would be attending so it was a lot of work feeding everyone. Crab stuffed mushrooms were a staple appetizer on the menu.

    This has been a classic in my family for as long as I can remember! We actually consider it one of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve! (I know not traditional, but it's our tradition!) Excellent recipe gentlemen!

      Actually you both do but I would say Chef Dom more. You speak like he did. He was a big marshmallow !! He was also a chef on a ship but he didn’t cook when he was at home. My Nanny did all the cooking.

    Cheese or no parm cheese? Later in reply, you say parm on a comment. Also how much butter goes in with celery , garlic and onion. I would guess 2 to 3 tbls? Oh and 1/4 tsp pepper and the 1 tsp salt goes in the stuffing. The mushrooms in the saute stage only get a bit of salt and pepper? Thank you . Fun watching!     Is the oven set to 350? I don't think I heard it. You said put them in the oven for 10 minutes. I'm making them now. Thanks!

      You two are so fantastic and your recipes are the best!
      I did have a problem with the wine when I added it to the mushrooms. It didn't reduce and it seemed like I overcooked them. Any suggestions?

      So sorry, but I watched the video for about 4 times and in the video, you said after you stuffed them, you said now they're ready for the oven...no temp was given, you just said put them in for about 10 minutes. Nothing was mentioned in the written description .

    I have a stove like that… at our rent house, how do you clean it up well? Mine has like burnt on stains from previous tenants… HELP!

      I use WEIMAN Glass Top Cleaner. The kit also comes with the razor blade for tough spots.

      I’m about to attempt crab stuffed mushrooms! I may add some creole seasoning, a bit of Parmesan cheese.. I truly enjoyed your video! I just don’t want to be a copy cat lol oh.. maybe some jalapeños and Louisiana hot sauce… I’m from south Texas after all! Wish me luck!

    I'm dumb when it comes to wine so is there a certain brand you get? I know there is a white and red. Don't laugh 🤣
