  • Have you ever wondered what it really takes to build self esteem and how to be confident? Why do some people seem to just have all kinds of self confidence, and some really struggle with it? It's tough issue for many, and we often think of it as something you either have or you don't.
    But the truth is, confidence is something that is built. The only way to get a confidence boost is to make intentional choices that build self confidence. There are little things all of us are doing everyday that cause us to have low self esteem, so looking at what those are, and actively working to turn them around is what we need to do.
    In this video I talk about 3 simple things confident people make a habit of practicing everyday, and they are straightforward strategies you can start doing right away.

    I’ve been having a lot of trouble in sports right now because I don’t have the confidence to perform at my potential and it’s holding me back. I’m a junior in high school and I’ve never really had much confidence and I have a big meet tonight so I’m really glad I came upon this to use, hoping it goes well! Thank you so much!

    Another great video as always. I like when you said you don't have to be perfect to be confident. Confidence can be the opposite having the confidence of admitting your flaws and imperfection in public. In a nutshell, you don't have to wait to have everything together to be confident, you can b confident right NOW. I look forward in watching the video again very soon. God Bless.

    I love this video, Julia!What makes me feel confident is looking at past successes.Like you said, I tend to take failures too hard and success too "light".I have to intentionally look at my successes to feel more confident 😀

    Ms. Kristina, thank you for your video. I found your teachings ambiguously refreshing. I can only speak for myself but in regards to the video, i felt that confidence doesn't have to be achieved in mundane ways heard and seen all the time......everywhere! thanks for your perspective.

    Leadership skills require confidence. Applying oneself to the sociological context of human development requires character. I love the wholeness of holistic life. Learned skills and a lifetime of experience create character that is naturally confident.

    What a great video! It's also very timely for me, so thank you. I love your reminder about letting go of perfectionistic goals and comparisons. One thing I've done in the past (and need to get back to) is a form of "fake it till you make it." It would be too embarrassing to reveal the specific details here. :) When I remember to do it, it helps a lot. I'm a big fan of the "Act as if..." model. Acting "as if" often leads me to actually *feeling* more confident, and it's kind of magical when it works!

      Yes! Me too Deb. I often find that just by pulling back my shoulders, standing up straighter, walking with intention. looking up and putting a smile on my face automatically makes me feel more comfortable in my own skin.

    Very good video. I realize that I don't step into my successes because I don't want to put myself out there to put a target on my back. I have always thought I should learn and be graceful in defeat and stay humble in the successes. How do you balance being confident and being "cocky"?

    • @juliakristinamah
      @juliakristinamah  7 лет назад +8

      ouuuu... SUCH a great question Nick! I think so many of us fear being cocky or arrogant, so we overshoot the other way too far and become self-deprecating... and often confuse self-deprecation with humility. Humility is not shirking off our accomplishments or success, it owning and acknowledging them with gratitude. And that's what confidence is too: Don't puff up, don't shrink down, find your ground, stand firmly in it and be grateful for every bit of it.

    You dont get it over night, you have to build it with self love. If things don't go right it doesn't matter you keep trying learn more and keep trying.
    Be proud of yourself. Confidence people have there there own life confidence people don't try to keep up with others. Confidence people don't compare others confidence people only compare there past self to present self. Confidence people know no one is perfect. Feel good about themselves without having to be told. Confidence people don't hate. Confidence people can feel good about themselves without approval of others. Confidence people still love learning. Be comtable with yourself. Self accepts. ☺
