And this recipe is exactly what you want when your making this because it's got everything you need. You're going to need Green Enchilada Sauce when you're making this and I've included my recipe for that below along with a killer Chimichanga recipe I love to top with Green sauce, so definitely check those out as well. I have had to go through my food pantry. Made this with older stew beef from the freezer, a jar of hatch green chile's, and a jar of Herdez green salsa. Added potatoes. I know its not "fresh" but it came out killer. This of course looks awesome! I have lots of pork in the freezer too that needs using up. Now I get to make the green salsa fresh. I used up my canned jars. I will be moving to Michigan later this year, so using jar/canned salsa will come in handy.

    I'm a chef and think you did a nice job with cooking and presentation
    reading other post some people just love to point out stuff that really doesn't matter .
    point is how it looks and tastes that's the bottom line . not who came up with the idea or where it originated from .

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  8 лет назад +9

      Yeah but commentators are relentless too. Not saying you are but for example, my Mongolian Beef recipe is the #1 recipe on RUclips and I always get someone telling me It's not Mongolian or "Mongolians don't cook Beef like that" bla bla bla.... So what! It's an Americanized Chinese dish called Mongolian Beef and if you follow my instruction, you're going to have some really tasty beef! ;-)

    I make mine in my pressure cooker and this reduces the cook time to 15-20 minutes, The meat (pork or chicken) is so tender and it's "lick the bowl clean" delicious.

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  6 лет назад +1

      I can appreciate that but reduction is a key factor, in this recipe, and that's not going to happen in a pressure cooker without the allotted time.

    • @rubbnsmoke
      @rubbnsmoke 6 лет назад +1

      After the 15-20 initial minutes of cooking to get the meat to that stage of tenderness you can just simmer and reduce it. Or add a thickening agent (cornstarch, roux..). Either way you'Re still greatly reducing the initial cook time to get the meat that tender.

    That green sauce look fantastic. I made a green and white pork chili in the crockpot tonight. My mom is sick and also recovering from shingles and ordinarily I would make food as homemade as possible with my own salsas and variation of a recipe, but she already got all of the ingredients for it, so I made it that way.
    I also made some rice on the side thinking maybe it would be good under the chili and I'm glad I came across this video. The chili came out really good, but I'm a weirdo and will watch videos of the same food while I'm eating it or before I eat it when I have the time because I lose my appetite really quickly and now I'm so jealous of your recipe. I will be trying this very soon!

    I buy what ever pork is on sell and has a good amount of fat on it. I trim the fat off then render the fat down making crispies for latter and the grease to brown the pork pieces in. Next I squeeze in a couple oranges along with the peeling, a bay leaf, evaporated milk, salt, and reg coke! The rest is the same as yours! Cheers!

    Not really carnitas (carnitas consists of all the parts of the pig) but it looks delicious. Very common in my house and that looks so appetizing. What recipe is left to make with the green chili sauce?

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  9 лет назад +2

      Zeldar From Planet Beldar I know what you mean but Carnitas just means "little meats", and I did purchase a 5.5 lbs bag full of different parts labeled "Pork Carnita" that I used in this video. See for yourself. I posted a pic on my blog. poormansgourmetkitchen.com/chili-verde-pork-chili-verde-recipe.html

    I really hate to rain on your parade but...the wording..is..I don't want to say wrong because that's kinda harsh but I'm gonna use...inaccurate...you used the term "carnitas" which is braised pork native to the state of Michoacán, Mex. Carnitas are cooked for a long time in pork fat and served plain...without any salsa..the pork you cooked is known in Mexico as chile verde..which literally translates to green chile...but all Mexico knows is green tomatillo sauce with pork...how do I know this?..I've been a Mexican for the last 50 years lol...compliments on how well you described the cooking methods and ingredients though 👍

    • @NICEHARDROCK
      @NICEHARDROCK 8 лет назад +4

      I can clearly see that you're trying to be cool about what you're saying but what I really hate is when someone claims heritage or "expertise" to the things they're saying yet are still ignorant to they're saying
      Car·ni·tas
      /ˌkärˈnētəs/ noun
      (in Mexican cooking) braised or roasted pork served shredded in small pieces, often as a filling in tacos, burritos, etc.
      And this video clearly demonstrated Chili Verde(which the video IS titled), using small pieces of braised pork(Carnitas), yet still you confirm yet deny that's what PMGK accomplished? He clearly cooked Carnitas and turned it into Chili Verde... so what!

      Its okay if you don't like Cilantro but never use flour for this recipe. Have the patience to let the sauce reduce as the meat softens and tenderizes. That's the proper way. 🍻

      My husband does and he's Mexican. I learned to make it that way for him from his mom. Sometimes he likes Spanish rice but he mostly like it on white rice.
