I just tried this today and I will always wash my strawberries this way… the water did indeed get a bit yucky and with a good final rinse I did not taste the salt or vinegar… Thank you for sharing!
I just went strawberry picking today. I usually just watch my strawberries off with water and that’s it. But thank you for this strawberry hack I will definitely try this out.
You know whats funny. If you “clean” them this way and wait abit and do it again, it still changes the water color because its just pulling the juices out of the berry.
All you have to do is dip your berries in one part vinegar three parts water, and don’t ever soak your berries because they are porous and will take on whatever flavor you put in the water. It’s not grime in that water - they’re only seeds.
The water actually turned pink probably because the strawberries are red and most of that 'grime' was from the green part that you don't eat and seed that dislodged from soaking like they are not meant to be soaked. Baking soda in cold water for a min or two and then rinse with clean water not water from tap. CLEAN WATER!!!
You could have achieved the same result with just water. The red that makes the water look brown is because of the vinagre dismantling the strawberries.
@@BishimDejajust did the vinegar thing sans one more ingredient (baking soda, which I luv!) and it worked perfectly. No mush and rinsing removed any vinegar taste.😊 Sometimes keeping it simple actually works!
Thanks a lot.Are you Singaporean? It's my favorite country. Edit: I did this and the water in which I soaked Strawberries turned completely brown .Glad I did this before eating Strawberries.
I keep a dollar store spray bottle in the kitchen w half white vinegar and half water. I rinse them then spray the vinegar water on and let it sit for 20 min and rinse again.
Appreciate the tip, but strawberries come from the dirt, and they pretty much leave the cleaning to the consumer, to avoid damaging them. It’s expected.
@@Shenanigan1720 i soaked my fresh strawberries in water and apple cider viager today just to see....... and little white tiny worm like things came out... ( i only saw a few but i was disappointed) just bought the berries from the store yesterday :/
That's strawberry fuzz and a few seeds. The colour is from the strawberry's leaching there red colour. The strawberries you should avoid are the ones from Australia as they love to insert sewing needles into the berries hoping someone would get one lodge in there throat
Lol that’s unnecessary. You only make them mushy. You shouldn’t do this and store them they will go bad. The hair on them and dirt keeps them fresh longer in the fridge. Just rub them softly under running water when you want to eat some.

Why oh why did you not pull the leaves off before soaking???
Soaking them in baking soda water for 15 minutes will get off more pesticides than vinegar or just about anything else.
