    I just tried this today and I will always wash my strawberries this way… the water did indeed get a bit yucky and with a good final rinse I did not taste the salt or vinegar… Thank you for sharing!

    I just went strawberry picking today. I usually just watch my strawberries off with water and that’s it. But thank you for this strawberry hack I will definitely try this out.

    I keep a dollar store spray bottle in the kitchen w half white vinegar and half water. I rinse them then spray the vinegar water on and let it sit for 20 min and rinse again.

    Thanks for the tip on vinegar flavored strawberries. Just rinse them under warm water you’ll be fine

    You know whats funny. If you “clean” them this way and wait abit and do it again, it still changes the water color because its just pulling the juices out of the berry.

    I soaked the strawberries that I picked today for 30 mins and they had alot of bugs.

    The water actually turned pink probably because the strawberries are red and most of that 'grime' was from the green part that you don't eat and seed that dislodged from soaking like they are not meant to be soaked. Baking soda in cold water for a min or two and then rinse with clean water not water from tap. CLEAN WATER!!!

    All you have to do is dip your berries in one part vinegar three parts water, and don’t ever soak your berries because they are porous and will take on whatever flavor you put in the water. It’s not grime in that water - they’re only seeds.

      The little clear bugs that come out are a trip. I stopped eating strawberries and raspberries entirely after seeing this done first hand.

    You could have achieved the same result with just water. The red that makes the water look brown is because of the vinagre dismantling the strawberries.

    Soaking them in baking soda water for 15 minutes will get off more pesticides than vinegar or just about anything else.

      ​@@BishimDejajust did the vinegar thing sans one more ingredient (baking soda,which I luv!) and it worked perfectly. No mush and rinsing removed any vinegar taste.😊 Sometimes keeping it simple actually works!

    That's seeds and strawberry juice. You only need to rinse.

    Appreciate the tip, but strawberries come from the dirt, and they pretty much leave the cleaning to the consumer, to avoid damaging them. It’s expected.

    I don’t soak them I just clean them with my hands and gently rub the hairs off the strawberries and then dry them with paper towels.

    That's strawberry fuzz and a few seeds. The colour is from the strawberry's leaching there red colour. The strawberries you should avoid are the ones from Australia as they love to insert sewing needles into the berries hoping someone would get one lodge in there throat

      Nope, just rinse well the strawberries after you soaked them in vinegar+water.

      That means where ever you got the strawberries (e.g the supermarket, the people who pack them), they did a good job at cleaning it

    Lol that’s unnecessary.
    You only make them mushy. You shouldn’t do this and store them they will go bad. The hair on them and dirt keeps them fresh longer in the fridge. Just rub them softly under running water when you want to eat some.
