And please remember - to whom it may concern - we are all not going to be as fast.
Some of us are 50 and older 😁 AND, our bodies age very differently from one another.
(genetic diseases, chronic disease, viral diseases, etc all get harder for our bodies to fight and can cause great fatigue)
I’ve been in the same home for almost 25 years and when the hubs and i were newly weds i would zip around the house and have it superduper clean in no time flat! (and still have loads and loads of energy left over!)
Now, heh heh, uh...well... my body is over a half-a-century old and i no longer zip around. 🥳
    Take your time.
    Don’t beat yourself up.
Do what your body allows you to do and ...
DO NOT COMPARE yourself to all of these youngster cleaning-youtubers! 🤗
Just enjoy the show and let it motivate you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you. I'm 57 and have Fibromyalgia. When I was young I would make a challenge of getting things done as fast as I could. Then Fibro hit at 24 and life changed dramatically. I'd have a good day and whip around the house cleaning relatively pain free, feel great, and then barely be able to get out of bed for 3 weeks due to pain. It's taken me many years to realise that working in small sections is all we can accomplish sometimes. 💗

@@me2uvintage O course, I'm just saying that people with chronic illness find it hard to do the washing some days. I find it impossible to clean all the floors in my house in one go. It just depends on how you feel on the day. But doing little bits frequently helps.

Great timing on this one: I need a daily cleaning reminder/plan video right now. And the "clean as you go" during dinner creation - years ago, my MIL and I were cooking together (we have done that countless times over the years. We really loved it. She can't right now because my FIL is very ill. I miss it! Anyway...). We were working together and she would wash the big bowls, etc. as we used them. I asked about it (I didn't do that; I just left stuff) and she said "I'm actually lazy and don't want to have to clean up later. This way, this stuff is done and already cleaned up." Well, that was great lesson to me. :) It also made it so, if I need that bowl again during the cooking, it was available again. It was and is a truly win/win habit. Thanks for sharing and encouraging it!

    • @rowboat8343
      @rowboat8343 4 года назад +4

This is such a great habit. I prefer to clean as I cook for the same reason. My husband leaves everything saying he will do it later (spoiler alert: he doesn't 😂). Sometimes I prefer to cook just so there isn't a big mess after dinner. It is lovely that you have a good relationship with your MIL. So many don't. I'm also lucky to have a lovely MIL.

Thank you so much for a realistic look at cleaning! I hear sooo many RUclipsrs trying to tell people they can keep their house clean with only 15 minutes a day and that's simply NOT true, especially if you have kids. The thing that sold my on the Fly Lady system (my adaptation of it) was starting slowly and making routines. Seeing progress and then a clean house without burning out on cleaning helped me so much.

    Wow.
When I started the FlyLady method, I needed 3 hours per day for a 60 squaremeter flat with a single mom and a teenager. Due to my perfectionism.
Of course I broke it off. With you I started new now, and although it needs much longer than 3 weeks to implement all babysteps, I put the focus now on simplifying
the routines, as you did, on the timer and on the progress-not-perfection-attitude. And it starts working for me. Thank you so much!
By the way: The carpet is very beautiful.

Thanks so much for the real time video! Great idea! It shows total time! This is so encouraging because it actually takes less time than we think it does to do something! We really just need to start and having routines is key! Maintenance is way better than dealing with something we’ve ignored for much too long! So true! I love the dishwasher hack! I used to feel bad running the dishwasher if it’s not totally full but that is what I now do. Every night after dinner I run the dishwasher even if it’s not full (I know it still uses less water than washing by hand). I was emptying it first thing in the morning while I made my breakfast and then having it available to load up throughout the day. I loved this and it helped control the amount of dishes. One little tweak I’ve just added to my routine lately is that I not only run the dishwasher right after dinner but I also EMPTY it before bed! This has proved to be a gamechanger in just a short time as my husband now actually puts his dishes straight in the dishwasher because he knows it’s empty otherwise he would just leave his dishes all over because he wasn’t sure if the dishwasher was empty or full. Win-win! 😉😏

Then I can get the tough stuff off easily after dinner and put them, plus our dinner dishes, into the dishwasher.. Then I put it on when I take my youngest up to bed..

I just want to say that I've had serious issues with my ruggable rugs. I bought 2 last year and they started rolling up on the edges and corners. I left a review with ruggable and they contacted me and wanted to make it right. They sent me 2 new rugs. They were improved to help with this common issue. My 2 rugs needed to be next to each other because they don't make a rug big enough for the room I have. They do move over time and separate where there's a gap between them. The new ones did great for months with the curling, but one started to curl on one side again. Also, they are a pain to lay back out on the mat they stick to after you wash them. The mats aren't all the same size and you need 2 people to lay the rug down and try to get it centered properly.

I have a hack for making the bed. I use large safety pins to pin my sheet, blanket and comforter to the end of the mattress so that I can stand on one side of the bed by my pillow, hold all three together and throw them all to the top of the bed. (It takes a little practice to get it down pat!) Bed made and I never have to find the bottom of the sheet or pull them away from my hubby in the middle of the night because they are always in place.

My daughter ... my oldest ... came to stay with us until she found a job and enrolled kids in pre-school and found a apartment.
She would have to get up early to get her and kids ready in the morning ... fix breakfast, etc.
I got up that morning and walked into the kitchen ... and STOPPED COLD IN BY TRACKS! My kitchen looked like a war zone!
Well, when she retuned home after work ... we had a talk! LOL 😂 We still laugh about it to this
    day!
I actually followed your 21 days ... when I get to the kitchen ... in between fixing coffee, etc.I empty my dishwasher and if I have laundry ... I put a load I! Who knew you could tach a old dog new Tricks! lol🌹

I'm amazed you can get all that done in such a short time. Woohoo! You go girl! Also, baby looks so cute crawling around and also when you were holding him.🤗💗

Wow Steph! I'm impressed with your hard work that really doesn't take but an hour and a half. I wonder why I'm so slow and feel like I'm constantly cleaning up? 🤪 PS I really enjoyed this video and the music in it too!

Hey! We are right there with you in the toddler crumbs. We started using a small handheld vac and it’s helped sooo much. (It’s easier for us than sweeping.)

Okay, so this whole thing got me thinking and I did a time study to see exactly how long it took: Shower, wash hair, and shave - 14 minutes; Contacts, face lotions & potions, teeth, make-up, drying and styling hair, and getting dressed - 30 minutes. So just under 45 minutes for the whole shebang! Good thing I only wash my hair and shave my legs every other day!!

Steph, I love you and your channel but I do not know how you did all of that in an hour and twenty minutes. I’d say my morning routine alone takes an hour and twenty minutes. I’ve never been fast at doing anything but seeing you zip around the house and accomplish all of that in the time it takes me to just do my morning routine leaves me in amazement. Shew! I need to figure out how to shave off some time!

So just under 45 minutes for the whole shebang! Good thing I only wash my hair and shave my legs every other day!! The rest of my morning routine takes me another 30-45 minutes (that includes making beds, cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast, swish and swipe two bathrooms, one load of dishes and laundry, and picking up the house because I’m too tired to do it before bed). So, an hour and a half and I’m good to go for the day.

My top two best chores that if house is looking chaotic, I do no matter what is sweep @5 times a day, too. And I microfiber mop every evening minimum and the place doesn't look filthy when these two things are done.

Hi Steph, this is such a great video..I laughed when you pulled your jeans..Mine are always slipping..and I have a shameful builder bum showing..Its really annoying..Saw that twirl your daughter did.. Im single no kids yet still need a system and proud of myself that even though i started a declutter and improvements I got started breaking things down..not having to finish..just start ..so letting go of that 'perfection' and not good enough 'cr*p' I had so long..Im feeling empowered when I tackle things..HOW DO MUMS MAKE SURE KIDS HAVE ALL THEY NEED..CLOTHES..SCHOOL ETC..can you do a video on time spent on these things. Also, I liked you mentioned your husbands shy..I can totally understand..Iv been gardening alot in my very small nook yard..and cooking.etc..Lia..sending love to you and family..xxLia
