- Busy days equal big messes! Tonight I had to choose between the couch and a clean house in the morning. I made up a game with my timer to clean the whole house in one hour - enter the POWER HOUR! Not to be used every day, just for those times when you have a bit of extra energy and want to get something done. This is the ultimate cleaning motivation game - set your timer for 5 minutes and let's clean up this disaster!

Favorite summer activity is a day at the lake! We usually go with a lot of family, bring tons of food, we hike, we read, we swim a LOT. It's the best.
Campfire & marshmallow roasting with smores! With little kids around, we'll need that platinum detergent to cleanup the sticky mess which turns to dirty reeeeal quick! 🤣

My favourite activity in the summer is time at the park, water park or pool with the kids. 💜
I think that the series of 5 minutes per room also helps because it means you prioritize the most important jobs in each room instead of getting sucked into doing detail-work in the living room while there is still tons of dishes and laundry to do

The Power Hour is something I’m going to try. It’s amazing how much you accomplished! A favorite summer day for me would be camping, sitting with my feet up at the lake with a friend watching our husbands fish for dinner. 🙂

Thanks for the motivation! I have been putting off packing up and decluttering to get ready to sell our house. We've been here 15+ years and the kids grew up here. So sad to leave, but it's definitely time! Seeing you whip through the power hour got me moving, too.
I live on a lake and enjoy taking slow pontoon boat rides. I do five minute rescues every day. Love having a neat and presentable home.
My favorite all time summer activity growing up was going camping with my parents. Then going camping as a family with my hubby and our three children, when they were young. I miss those great days!

Why was this so satisfying to watch?? Can’t wait to try this for myself. I often find myself moving from room to room because I find something that belongs in a different room and then get distracted in that room for a bit until I find something else that doesn’t belong and the cycle repeats.

Watching the flowers bloom, doing my steps in fresh air (7 steps- up & down) while listening to the birds, and seeing the baby deer in my yard.

Hey Steph 🤗 THANKS TO YOU and your Weekly Cleaning Schedule I no longer forget laundry in the washer because I list “start laundry” with the a.m. routine and “finish laundry” with the p.m. routine (somewhere between after lunch and before my husband gets home) 😁 I also list “process mail” so as not to get that paper clutter build up 👍🏼 Love what you do... thanks for sharing ❤️ oh... favorite summer thing...ANYTHING OUTDOORS with family &/or friends ❤️🎶😎 (we live in northern Idaho~ almost neighbors😉 ) ‼️
My favorite summer activity is going for a bike ride with my husband and son. There's a small lake near our home with a path around it that makes us feel like we're on vacation even though we're only a mile or so away from our house. Our son is a teen now and craves more time with his friends but we still manage to make time for "family time" - which can mean anything these days. I am so grateful we made the most of our time with him - especially in the summer - all these years. Our bike rides together aren't as frequent these days, but they mean so much. Enjoy your children!!!

Your 5x5 method has really helped me with motivation! I’ve done it as a strict 5x5 but also gone a little longer. My house is much smaller than yours so sometimes I just set a second 5 min timer for the same room.
Also, I really appreciate your willingness to share your mess!
And I so agree with the 5 min per room idea. I’m pretty good at keeping up with my kitchen but I often get it spotless and then I’m overwhelmed and don’t do any other room. And the mess just builds in those rooms!!

I have 6 rooms too including balcony as I'm in a flat. I'll keep it to 5 minutes but then might go round again for a 5 minute declutter per room!
Fav summertime activity- since my kids grew up, graduated college & flew the coop I struggled. Summers were always based on their schedules & I loved it! Now, I found me :). Summer fishing with my husband. I don’t let myself say no when he asks. It has been a beautiful distraction. Even brought us closer in other “great areas” LOL. Your videos are great! Keep em coming. Gives me a tad more energy. Reminds me of my younger self ! Thank you!

My favorite summer activity is helping old and sick or disabled people to keep cool and safe by visiting them and helping them doing chores they can't do because it's too hot. I love to see their happy faces and having a little talk with them. Today I went to a man 96yrs of age

I’m a teacher so I LOVE summertime! My favorite summer activity would have to be working in and around our hobby farm. Although, this year twin grand boys have changed my priorities a bit! LOVE your channel Steph! I’m a few months into minimizing and have begun a blend of Flylady (thanks to your Sunday’s) and clean mama! Unbelievable difference for our family!

Love this! I've been really struggling with my motivation recently, then had my sister in law come to visit so everything got completely spruced up and I desperately want to keep on top of it. This will be just the thing for that hour after the kids are in bed but not necessarily asleep and I don't want to sit down on the couch because it tempts fate and they start yelling!!!
I love how you talk about how things aren't always done when you plan to. Talking about how there are times when you don't have the motivation and when you forget to switch stuff to the dryer.....that really speaks to me because I always felt bad when I don't measure up to organizers that I watch on RUclips.

Love this. Thanks for the inspiration. I can get so distracted cleaning a room. This also can free up time for things you can enjoy, rather than cleaning for hours on end. Obviously the deep cleaning need to be done too but when life ‘happens’ this is a great substitute 👍👍👍
