See if Disney rebooted movies like this instead of attacking and remaking their best movies, I wouldn't be so much against the remakes. Cause this is an example of a movie needing to be remade. And this trailer is awesome, I wish it was real.
The black cauldron is one of my favorites and while I admit I wouldn't actually be against it being remade in live action I do think it should be done in shown in theaters and sold in stores if it does get done. I myself like being able to buy a hard copy of a movie or show I love in case something happens that causes me to lose my access online.
Something you may not know (I didn't know until I found a RUclips video about it) is that originally, the filmmakers at Disney had wanted to use the newly developed holograph technology which had just recently become possible (and which we see demonstrated briefly in Back to the Future II when Jaws pops out of the moviehouse marquis behind a startled Marty), to make the Cauldron-born wal7k amongst the audience.... Now how frigging awesome would THAT be if they did a theatrical release of a live remake and incorporated that sadly scrapped idea because the budget to achieve such an effect back in the day would have been much too high. Now, though...? I'm fairly confident Disney has more than enough dough to make it happen...😉

Tbh, I'm surprised this hasn't become a series on Disney+ yet. With every streaming platform investing in superhero and epic fantasy series and movies, It's a surprise that Disney is sticking with just the superheroes given how much epic fantasy they have in their library to reboot and remake or turn into live action
Actually, I REALLY hope that this is just one in a series. unfortunately it looks like they again what they did to the original, they condensed 4 books into one and missed half of what made the Chronicles of Prydain series great.

The funny thing is there was a live action made in the late 1980’s. I watched the trailer when we were stationed in Germany. The trailer was for a video release. It was awesome. I don’t know why it was never released. I’ve been waiting since 1987.
I didn't mind the animation for the Black Caldroun but I would be much happier if the serise would be given the same treatment as the Lord of the Ring trilogy. Each book was magnificent on it's own. I really didn't like that the animation tried to me ge the first few books together.

I read the Chronicles of Prydain books earlier this year and I'm annoyed that even with the resurging popularity of fantasy shows, Disney hasn't thought to adapt all of them as a Disney+ series. There's five books in total including _The Black Cauldron_ so if they wanted to milk it for several seasons they would have plenty of material to work off of
The Black Cauldron isn't even the first book of the series. My high school's library had the series, so I read them. Actually really good and worth looking in to. The animated movie took ideas from several of Lloyd Alexander's books, and might have worked better if they just kept to one book.
I loved these books so much, but never understood why the movie started in the middle of the series... In spite of the title, this one looks to be starting at the beginning... 👍
I wish all trailers kept a vagueness about the content of the movie. No spicy one-liners, no revealing action sequences. We, the viewers would either be intrigued and have nothing spoiled, or be sent on a hunt to look up details of the production. Great job.

Trouble is Bob Chakpek announced 2 months ago that there would be no more live action films of the already animated/live action films that the studios made because they found an extension of Walt's will/trust while cleaning the archives during covid lockdowns. Supposedly Walt made it very clear never to do sequels of any of the animated and live action films the studios already made before and after his death. There is no statue to limitations in this legalized document sadly.

The Black Cauldron was apart of my childhood, and was a very underrated movie. It would be great for Disney to do a remake of this and better develop the story. But after seeing the little mermaid LA trailer, the heads at Disney won't do it any justice.
Given the popularity rise of dungeons and dragons and other high fantasy media, I am surprised Disney isn’t doing this for real. I think it would sell very well and they just don’t want to admit it, since at the time it came out originally it didn’t sell as well. But we have LOTR and GOT and all kinds of shit since then that would mean people are hungry for high fantasy quest content these days. So Disney is missing out. I do wish they would do things like this and not the “live action” or purely CGI remakes we have been getting. They played it too safe redoing their popular films which led to fans hating the remakes, instead of rebooting old material like this and having fans go wild. Bad marketing ploy imo lol. Seriously stop making classics into live action because it’s not working well. Just come up with new ideas or expand some old ones without ruining the original material. A failed movie is one that screams for a second chance as a remake. Modern remakes always go for popular successful franchises that have built in audiences.

The movie is based on the book series Chronicles of Prydain. It would be interesting if it were made into a movie/video game series like Lord of the Rings

The Black Cauldron would be a worthy candidate for a live-action remake since the animated film was boring and forgetable. It could draw people in to reading the book series. Similiar to Peter Jackson's films with Lord of the Rings.

Well, as they have lost money with remakes of movies that in the past got them lots of money, doing remakes of money that lost them money might be a god idea.
