      Yes, it seems they even copied the prince‘s teacher in his function as comedic relief.

      I like the Czechoslovak version a 100 times better. It was funny and charming and thoroughly enjoyable. This might be an okay movie if you don't know the original... But if you do, you miss everything about the characters that made them special. This prince is really just a spoiled brat where the original one managed to be still likeable. This Cinderella is pretty but lacks much of the spunk and feistiness of the original.

    It is nice they made a remake of the other (better if you ask me) version of cinderella. This is obviously based on the czeck version of 1973 (three nuts for cinderella). I strongly recommend watching the old version. It is not this action and music loaded plastic lookalike fairytale movie with all that extra drama in order to make you feel anything at all. It is story well told, with many little details that contribute to the whole feeling of the movie. Every character is existing on its own, the story moves on on its own and the music is unforgettable while being decent. the scene looks so damn natural, not overloaded and just pictures the european landscape and this timless epoch the czeck tale takes place in.

    Honestly, this is what a fairytale adaptation should attempt:new settings for classic stories. Disney doesn’t need to do a beat for beat adaptation of Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid when there are locations and stories they can draw some new ideas from outside of their original adaptation of a classic fairytale. Tales are timeless. Every culture has a Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast.

      Now...the first live action iteration I most definitely want to see that. They can literally do a properly produced scene for scene remake of the live action of Avatar The last Air Bender or the Legend of Korra, and they can have all my money. This reimagined version doesn't look bad. But the dubbing does. And I am usually a fan of dubbed materials. Maybe I can read the subtitles on it if I watch it.

    Looks like a straight copy of Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973), which we watch in many countries for Christmas (Slovakia, Czechia, Germany...)...also it look like it's dubbed (badly)?

    Its not exactly reimagined, Germany plays 1973 Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel every year at Christmas. Which is Czech (thanx Goldkelchen20 for the correction!) and they dub it but it still sounds better than this English version

    • @Goldkehlchen20
      @Goldkehlchen20 2 года назад +8

      The 73 movie was a Czech/ DDR collaboration, which is why there's a German dub and a Czech dub. All the actors were speaking their own language on set and then they just dubbed the ones that didn't match for each version. Still a shame it hasn't got a proper english dub, so many people are missing out...

      This movie plays on tv in Norway every christmas eve (with one man doing all the dubbing), so that is where the inspiration for this movie came from

    • @amycloward7966
      @amycloward7966 2 года назад

      Technically, "reimagined" is exactly what it is because it is a retelling of an older story in a slightly different way. The dubbing in this didn't look great but at least I will be able to follow the story. I can only find copies of the 1973 film with the English narrator speaking over everyone and that version makes it hard to feel connected to the story. It is missing the nuances of the conversations. I wish I could find it with English subtitles or dubbing so I could finally follow along because it looks like it is so good. I have honestly thought about trying to learn German or Czech just to enjoy that movie. (Although, to be fair, I could then enjoy all the awesome fairy tale movies that come out of eastern Europe so it is probably worth it.)

    This looks EXACTLY like the Czech movie "Three nuts for Cinderella" from 1973, trust me, I watched it many times. And I do mean everything: the plot points, the 3 meetings before the reveal, the veil at the ball, the outfits from the nuts... like c'mon, really guys? All they did was just add the Frozen setting into it and Tormund. Modern visual technology aside, the original still looks better to me... but I really might just watch it for Tormund LOL

    To all of the 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 in the comments bitching that Cinderella movies are oversaturated: it's YOUR film industry that's saturating the market with a Cinderella movie every damn year because its creatively bankrupt and can only do remakes reboots and adaptations. Now because Hollywood spits out a cynical Cinderella adaptation every new moon for an easy cashgrab foreign industries are not allowed to do their own adaptations? You guys did it too much so foreign filmmakers don't get to do it now? Even though its a norwegian adaptation made primarily for norwegians that speaks to their own cultural context? Piss off with your US centrism lmao

      This is a remake of a Czech movie from 1973 that plays on TV in Norway every single Christmas. Cause of the strong tradition they decided to make a Norwegian version of it to continue the tradition for newer generations. It’s not a remake of the classic Cinderella story either.
