A lot of other comments are already mentioning it, but I thought I'd add that I actually watched Three Wishes/Nuts for Cinderella (1973) a couple months ago here on youtube. Someone uploaded the video and it has English subtitles. The video is titled: Tři oříšky pro Popelku (ENG subs). For anyone who wants to check it out.
That movie is a masterpiece especially for the time it was produced in. My favorite Cinderella movie! I have watched it since I was a small child in the Russian translation (it is originally in Czech language). You have to see it if you haven't yet.
There is an old movie from 1973 "Three Wishes for Cinderella" It's cool. I loved this movie in my childhood. I hope this version will be as magical as an old one.
Now it is even less likely that she would leave her shoe behind unless she wants frost bite which she might still have because those shoes are not made for snow.
For everyone wishing for the movie to come with subtitles, they already made this movie in 1973 in eastern Germany/Czechoslovakia and I’m sure you can find it with subtitles! And tbh the sets and everything look more beautiful and modern CGI isn’t really needed for this movie
true! honestly, this movie is a rip off. i love the original czech movie and i can recognize the scenes... which is crazy. almost every detail is the same. only the actress is not chrismatic - Libuse was better in that role
@@О.М-д3з well I mean it is based on a fairy tale that has those specific scenes in it so I don’t know if I’d call it a rip off? But yeah the original actress is very charming I always loved her in this role
@@annach109 yes but if you rewatch an old version , you will see that the scenes are very similar! Like veil on her face, like that shot of the castle when she goes in, like the village and more.
Yes, it seems they even copied the prince‘s teacher in his function as comedic relief. The shooting the crossbow scene looks really familiar, the prince picking her up, the stepmother riding her open carriage like crazy. Also the fact that there’s snow everywhere. Even in one of the very first scenes I thought: „Huh, the way they‘re riding reminds me a lot of the Czech movie!“
As a Slovak, I must say the Norwegians did justice to our classic (well, "our" - it's Czechoslovak, originally Czech, with primarily Czech actors, but you know). The English dub, on the other hand...
I like the Czechoslovak version a 100 times better. It was funny and charming and thoroughly enjoyable. This might be an okay movie if you don't know the original... But if you do, you miss everything about the characters that made them special. This prince is really just a spoiled brat where the original one managed to be still likeable. This Cinderella is pretty but lacks much of the spunk and feistiness of the original.
This looks like Czech movie from the 70s ...it was named something like "Three nuts for cinderella". Loved that movie. Don't know if this one will be as good, but it definitely made me want to see the old movie
It's not even close. They stuck to the main story line of the original but took away all character elements that made the original so charming and funny. I was thoroughly disappointed.
This looks really good! I'm a big fan of vintage fairytale movies from european countries, like Ruslan and Ludmila 1972 and Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast 1946 and Viy 1967. The visuals look really beautiful in this new version. I'm excited to watch this!
This is a remake of a Czech movie from 1973 that plays on TV in Norway every single Christmas. Cause of the strong tradition they decided to make a Norwegian version of it to continue the tradition for newer generations. It’s not a remake of the classic Cinderella story either, but from someone that watched it multiple times in cinemas last year it’s definitely worth a watch.
Then watch the original that this movie totally butchered.... I'm not sure of the English title. It's something like three hazelnuts for Cinderella, a Czech movie from the 80s. It's magical, charming and hilarious all at the same time. This is very bland in comparison. They took the original charm of the characters...
It is nice they made a remake of the other (better if you ask me) version of cinderella. This is obviously based on the czeck version of 1973 (three nuts for cinderella). I strongly recommend watching the old version. It is not this action and music loaded plastic lookalike fairytale movie with all that extra drama in order to make you feel anything at all. It is story well told, with many little details that contribute to the whole feeling of the movie. Every character is existing on its own, the story moves on on its own and the music is unforgettable while being decent. the scene looks so damn natural, not overloaded and just pictures the european landscape and this timless epoch the czeck tale takes place in.
I had seen Three Nuts For Cinderella as a child in the mid to late 79s. One of our local stations had the Kukla,Fran and Ollie show in in the early afternoon on Saturday and they showed it. It was one of the most charming and most unique versions of Cinderella I'd ever seen. I watched it again about a year ago on RUclips and can seriously say that it hasn't lost it's charm and uniqueness
It’s actually a Norwegian remake of the Czech movie from 1973. It’s basically become a tradition for families in Norway to watch it every Christmas and cause of that they wanted to remake it.

Just a modernised version of old iconic Czechoslovakian movie Three hazelnuts for Cinderella. Most of the story, characters and even costumes are the same. The original has beautiful cast, a lot of good humour and magical music.
Can everyone calm down with there judgement and first give this a chance. This is a Norwegian reimagining of the Czechoslovakian classic, just in with an english dub.
Cinderella is a fairytale that’s been around for centuries and different countries have their own variation of the story, not to mention it’s in the public domain so there are probably over one hundred different versions of the story that have been made and will continue being made. What? Did you think Disney created the story of Cinderella and everyone else copied them lol😅
Honestly, this is what a fairytale adaptation should attempt:new settings for classic stories. Disney doesn’t need to do a beat for beat adaptation of Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid when there are locations and stories they can draw some new ideas from outside of their original adaptation of a classic fairytale. Tales are timeless. Every culture has a Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast.
Now...the first live action iteration I most definitely want to see that. They can literally do a properly produced scene for scene remake of the live action of Avatar The last Air Bender or the Legend of Korra, and they can have all my money. We all saw what happened when Shyamalan tried to get...inventive. (I mean the man's big break was stealing from children's tv, and the one time he got permission he just screwed it up.)
It's not new though. They just basically copied Tři oříšky pro Popelku from 1973. I grew up watching that movie and it's still the most beautiful cinderella type movie.

Its not exactly reimagined, Germany plays 1973 Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel every year at Christmas. Which is Czech (thanx Goldkelchen20 for the correction!) and they dub it but it still sounds better than this English version
The 73 movie was a Czech/ DDR collaboration, which is why there's a German dub and a Czech dub. Still a shame it hasn't got a proper english dub, so many people are missing out...
Technically, "reimagined" is exactly what it is because it is a retelling of an older story in a slightly different way. The dubbing in this didn't look great but at least I will be able to follow the story. I wish I could find it with English subtitles or dubbing so I could finally follow along because it looks like it is so good. I have honestly thought about trying to learn German or Czech just to enjoy that movie. (Although, to be fair, I could then enjoy all the awesome fairy tale movies that come out of eastern Europe so it is probably worth it.)
