ABOUT PAPADAKIS RACING:
The Papadakis Racing team began drifting in 2004 and is the most winning team in Formula Drift history, earning the 2015 title with driver Fredric Aasbo, as well as backto back championship titles with driver Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008. The Rockstar Energy Drink / Nexen Tire Toyota Corolla Hatchback is the latest competition build from the Hawthorne, California, based team.
Team owner Stephan Papadakis is a legend of sport compact racing who began building his reputation in the 1990s with the first front-wheel drive, tube-chassis drag car in the U.S. The team earned multiple records and championships in the discipline, turning in elapsed times and trap speeds previously thought unattainable in front-drive drag cars. Papadakis' successes in front-wheel drive were matched by his efforts in rear-wheel drive when he campaigned a Honda Civic that became just the fifth car to join the NHRA's Sport Compact 200 MPH club Авто/Мото
Lol it’s good to know that even papadakis drops stuff on the ground and has to crawl around to find it.
At least his floors are white so they're easy to find
And there’s the reason for having a clean workshop ;)
His workshop is way cleaner them my living room
Lol!
Lol
No disassembly is complete without a search for the jeeesus clip
@freezeme360 a personal favourite is the hell spring. Small enough to to hide in shop dust. Large enough to fly across the room and land, apparently, in another dimension.
Rumour has it you can place a 10mm socket under your pillow and a fairy will find it for you overnight
Jeezless!
@@tojiroh you'll find it when you need a 9mm or 11mm
@freezeme360 maybe you’ve got imperial fairies. Try a 7/16 or 13/32
"Want to see me teardown other stuff?"
Uh yes, basically anything. I'll watch.
agreed, open up anything and everything engine-related. Maybe a power steering pump or AC compressor next? Different variable valve timing setups?
Yeah, I want to see everything. My suggestion is maybe an AC compressor or a electric bypass exhaust?
Yaaasss, tear down all the things
Mabe the electric power steering
I appreciate that papi papa isn't just a big wig in an office but actually knows the ins and outs of all his cars.
I think he's the exact opposite: totally involved with every aspect of his cars' development. Great knowledge and a great teacher.
Tear down the newer brushless pumps or dry sump oil pump
@Peterbjorck posted a video on dry sump pump just a few hours ago. Very educational videos just like this one :)
Look back a year he's torn down a dry sump system
2 fuel pumps were harmed in the making of this educational documentary.
Nope...they were...um...er...hmmm...sacrificed at the "Alter of Knowledge"...
a workshop floor so clean you can find a c-clip on the floor easily after it pings off across the room.... niiiice!
A ABS unit would be interesting :)
That i would love to see!
To the top good Sir!
LMAO 6:44 Literally me every time I install valve springs and a retainer pops out
That was me in kitchen yesterday assembling my heads😅
That’s a clean floor to be able to find tiny e-clip
I dare say he has next level ocd cause i've seen some clean work areas but nothing like him
@@nuvisionprinting definitely , the man has a dedicated room just for building his engines
@@nikogambino2723 i've also seen dedicated engine rooms that aren't quite at the level of papadakis!
the gudgeon pin retainer clip that i lost on the floor and is preventing me from finishing my engine rebuild be like.
This is extraordinarily detailed and broken down for us to easily understand. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Didnt find a 10mm while looking for that e clip did you?
Lol
Pap works on BMWs now... No 10mm needed. 😁
The end of the video is a classic when you are dealing with screws and that kind of clips, such a relief when you find them 😂
The fuel injector, small cc to large cc.
Came here to say this, maybe also include port vs direct injectors
"AEM was nice enough to flow me a couple of these pumps"
punny
The entire electric motor is sorrounded by fuel
Me: 👁👄👁
This shocked me as well. But it makes sense.
Shocked me a bit when I learned about it a few years ago. Honda recently had an issue where, in the pursuit of energy efficiency, they ran the fuel pump at variable speeds according to flow need. With some fuels this would cause sulphur build up in the motor and then pump failure. So a software fix was put out to increase the minimum speed.
further, fuel carries away heat from the pump motor as well as lubricate and I assume clean it from commutator dust.
I'll never sleep again from so many great youtube creators always posting lol
Who else you watch? I'm bored lol
I thought I was the only weirdo up at 2am every night watching RUclips lmao 🤣😂
@@imacaryay7628 applied science just uploaded
loved the end bit. the blessing of working in a clean shop is finding dropped nuts and bolts
More teardowns!!!
great video, I love how you go into details because many of us here are a little more than amateurs and as myself there are plenty of engineers I wish you tear down a high end turbo+waste gate and expose the technologies involved
I don't care what's next. Just keep 'em coming! I love getting down in these weeds, Thanks for taking us along!
In 1994 I had a 16v Golf 2 which ran a Bosch high pressure pump like the one you opened. A fitter and Turner friend and I opened it up and serviced it.......car ran another 180 000 km on it. He started a successful business doing repairs!!!!
Love seeing things torn apart in ways you can actually see how they work! Thanks for the description during disassembly too. More please!
It is a lot of fun to break things. It's less precise than making things. It's like therapy.
Just watching your videos you've taken away the fear of working cars being so complex. These videos make me want to learn more and do more with my own car.
I always press the like button at the beginning because I know I will always be satisfied by the rich content. Thank you for the knowledge Papadakis!
Yeah those e-clips like to fly off into the ether in my shop LOOOL
Best RUclips channel for car geeks. Great work Steph 😎
HAHAHAHAH the end where the clip flies off at the speed of light! so funny
The fuel flows over the armature. Fuel is non-conductive. That’s amazing - I literally had no idea.
You sir are a great content creator... this is of the channels I can actually rely on to find ENTERTAINING INFORMATIVE videos.
Need ya own tv show with a lab coat on, Papadakis teardowns with the explationations like no other
TEAR IT ALL DOWN. I love learning how things work.
Tear down everything! Love seeing tear down videos by experts.
Thanx for all the awesome tech/info Stephan....always interesting to check out your videos...
Like everyone else says, it's so good to see the boss of a race company doing this sort of thing, it shows us you're a true car nerd, and that you're aware that all us amateur car nerds want to know this sort of stuff. If you are able, please keep going with tearing down things that we don't usually get to see!
thats real teaching who needs vocational school when you got papadakis and youtube
There's no substitute for hands-on instruction.
5:37 . I love that shot, very nice to see you are not taking everything too seriously.
Love your stuff Stephan, keep it up.
Keeping with the pump theme, brushless pumps and direct injection pumps.
Love teardowns of anything automotive oriented thanks for all the awesome content.
Percussive maintenance is always the best way to fix things
Always such good videos and you always seem like such a nice, chill guy
Your videos are absolutely amazing: Short and to the point and yet I always learn something. Thank you so much!
Another vids from Papadakis? Yes please!
Mr. Papadakis, could you and your team explain in the next video how ECU works? Your content is top-notch!
I love the way you explain. Txs for the video.
I’ve always admired how clean your shop is! Thanks for the video!
I have been watching your channel for years and always enjoy listening to your perspective on these things. I would definitely want to see more videos like this, where you explain the inner workings of how these things work, or how you build your racecars
It would be interesting to see a teardown of a shock absorber/damper
love your videos! make as many as you can and I will watch them all.
It's always amazing how much info you pack into such short videos while remaining entertaining. Please keep them coming.
Your videos are very in depth aswell as very helpful! Excited for every upload
Can’t get enough of these videos. The cleanliness of the workshop always makes it for me! 🤤
You are the best, man! You explain everything very patiently and clear! Thanks 🙏
This was pretty cool. I just realized how clean your workspace is. It looks so professional.
μπραβο ρε στεφανε,μου λυθηκαν καποιες αποριες που ειχα χωρις να χαλάσω την τρομπα.
I love how clean and organized your workshop is. That’s the first thing I look for when I take my car to an Indy mechanic.
Great video brother so much detail 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great Video ! i really liked it and it was so cool to watch whats going on inside of the fuel pumps. Thanks a lot for that and take care!
Great demo of Hydrostatic/dynamic pumps and their differences
Would love to see a shop tour. Tools, cabinets, etc
Love your videos -- keep it up! The teardowns are great.
Yeah I could literally watch/listen to you talk about anything lmao genuinely appreciate the content, thank you 🤙
Good stuff. I enjoy all of your videos.
Fantastic video, do more of this kind of stuff!!
Literally watch every video you release within minutes 🤣
I literally did a how do fuel pumps work search last week, thanks for the tear downs, exactly what I wanted to see :)
This is great info! Would love to see some more videos on stuff like this.
Another flawless video!
Definitely want to see more teardowns. Thoroughly enjoyed it, please do more Mr Papadakis
Absolutely love your channel! Such a wealth of information!
More of this! Good stuff!
That brief pause when the C-clip launched itself, I've felt that same feeling before 😆.
Great videos. This is one of the best channels for mechanical geeks like me.
Another informative and enjoyable video. Keep them coming. 👍
yes please! more teardowns for misc parts! It was interesting to see the inside of a pump, although it just turned out to be what I expected. Thanks!
Great stuff Steph! From building 1000+ HP racing cars to messing around with the details this is a great channel for engineering enthusiats.
Yeah, tear down some more stuff. That was cool and informative.
I still can't believe we get to see how your team operates. Please keep content flowing it's awesome.
Very well explained, massive thumbs up!
the cleanest lathe I've ever seen
That was the single most imformativ and interesting video I have ever seen.
Definitely more of these vids too, very cool!
👍👌👍👌
Love to see this type of videos
Quality Video. And definitely informative
You're a super knowledgeable man, Mr Papadakis, with an excellent, relaxed presentation style that comes with that knowledge. I enjoy all of your vids, even though I don't need to know any of what you show me as I don't have the £££ to modify or even buy a sweet car. Definitely interesting though. Totally subbed.
Great idea for an episode
Love to see more stuff like this 👍
I love these kinds of videos!
Tear apart a break master cylinder! Or a shock! Love your videos, thanks for the amazing descriptions and awesome quality.
I love this video disassembly. I hope you make other video like this soon
Super interesting, as all your videos! Thank you!
Very interesting video. Thank you
I just love how the floor and workplace in general is really clean. So that also you can still find your clip when it decided to go on a field trip
Loved the video definitely want more of this!
Hard out! Teardowns, tech insights, bring it on Stephan
these youtube channels really provide more education than my "institute"
Cool! Thanks papadakis!
This was very interesting, thank for sharing this
I would just love to see more videos from you maybe going over your race weekend each race . Great VIDEOS
Man always a pleasure to watch...
Wow... your workshop is so clean ♡
Thanks for sharing Stephan, I would have thought AEM used a brushless motor but guess the engineers have their reasons. Also like your teardown video's keep em' coming!
