I watched this movie for the first time last month. For me it's the ultimate family flick, it has adventures, princesses, giants, sword fights, kings, romance, comedy and more. It's just really good and sweet film.
Yoferil Sure bet she fucked like demon tho! I LOVE bat shit crazy girls (One of them even had an oversized gothic bat tattoo on her chest!)!!! You just don't let them know where you live much less marry them
Whatever it was the way he walked and moved, in my opinion, was better than if he'd been fresh. It had an almost casual, uncaring style that matched up with how his character was pretending to not care about Buttercup. Like his mere walking, sitting, and even style of standing up were a mockery of her.
Having met the guy in person when he was doing a Q&A at McCarter theatre in Princeton, NJ. He said that Andre kept riding around in a buggy they got for him because of Andre's back and having a hard time moving around. Andre would speed by, stop in from of Cary, and ask him if he wanted to ride it. Cary said no numerous times until finally he was convinced and immediately crashed the ATV, which busted his big toe. Cary was afraid to tell Rob Reiner about the incident and when the director finally found out, Cary thought he would lose his job. But then Rob said to him, "Cary. Who else is going to play Wesley?" He tells the story much better than I could.
Yeah, Andre's back issues really were a major issue. That's why I just can't go back and rewatch his WM3 fight against Hulk Hogan. Watching as an adult, it's INCREDIBLY obvious that he's in super pain and can barely move, with Hulk having to carry the entire match. :-/
Apparently Andre did everything he could to help the cast when they had second thoughts on the film. During the Cliffs of Insanity, Wallace Shawn was afraid of heights, so Andre pretty much told him he won't fall as long as he's around. When it looked liked Robin Wright was getting cold he kept her warm. Mandy Pantinkin returned the favors by making sure he kept on script. Apparently in an effort to help him concentrate on his lines, Mandy slapped Andre in the face every time he couldn't pay attention. It wasn't anything cruel as you would think, it was more or less a means of getting his attention. While it does seem unorthodox and even cruel to some people, I would add that to Mandy's list of awesome moments, considering he slapped a giant in the face and lived. Plus considering they were on Good Morning America to promote the movie and Andre is famous for disowning those that piss him off, it's safe to say they remained good friends before Andre's demise.
@@johnnyrico707 far from a perfect movie but it was still great. more underrated due to the fact that most people didn't catch it's satirical meanings.
Andre's back wasn't just busted because of wrestling, he was so massive that his body couldn't handle his weight anymore. Many people who have gigantism have joint and back problems and Andre didn't help the matter with wrestling.
You can tell by the way he walks that he has serious hip problems. He was clumsy and fat and he wasn't a convincing strong man at all, not when the movie was released and not last year when I watched it again.
One of the major side-effects of gigantism is arthritis - the bones grow quicker than they're meant to, and end up "rubbing against" each other, because the required tissue between the bones, to prevent damage (eg cartilage) hasn't formed enough. Ironically, Andre was offered treatment early in hs wrestling career to reduce the symptoms of gigantism, but he refused it, because he was afraid it would affect his wrestling career.
Bruh, Andre wasn't clumsy. I know hes big and injured but anyone who ever knew him was shocked at what an unbelievable athlete he was, at this point in life he was broken but it don't change his coordination and skill.
This movie was a major part of my childhood, and I have watched it hundreds of times. My parents and I quote lines from it all the time and will often to this day sit down and watch it together. It never gets old. Love it.
You ever had someone ask you what this movie is about but you can't explain it because the synopsis sounds so dumb? You just have to watch it to understand. One of the best movies ever

Also I knew about Cary Elwes' injury, but it doesn't stop me from being amazed how he worked through the scene. Now I need to make sure I watch it on the anniversary.

Dude I knew about Elwes’s set shenanigans, and I knew there was a scene where he was walking carefully because of it, but I never knew it was THAT SCENE. I always thought he just had a fancy pirate saunter going on. He exuded so much sass while in character as the Dread Pirate Roberts it was impossible to tell he was concealing an injury until it was specifically pointed out. Which… to be fair… is probably exactly what a pirate would try to do XD

Also, I think it helped the movie a lot that Cary Elwes and Robin Wright were actually quite infatuated with each other during the filming. Seriously, Elwes said it was hard to focus after that first time seeing her, and they were so against leaving after filming was done that they insisted on doing their ‘most perfect kiss’ scene over and over again, making up various reasons to do so.

How about an early birthday celebration for Heathers? Please?
The Enders A Lot Such a good movie!
The Enders A Lot lol they were filming parts of the remake at my high school.
The Enders A Lot YESSSSS
Jerico Gonzalez We do not speak of the remake
Jerico Gonzalez Brother???
Hell yes there has to be a part two to this! Please make it. Please!
I grew up with princess bride and never knew that stuff, crazy what you can see when you find out flaws of a movie, I'm ready for part 2 👍🏿
I read Carey Elwies' book so I knew a few things including the doom buggy crash
Oh, they nailed the cast!
I'm in love with this movie even after 30 years. I was 10 when this movie came out, but didn't see it until it came out on VHS at Hollywood Video.
Memorieeees!!
The cast was brilliant!
Huh... Many times as I've seen this movie, these really ARE things I didn't know... I'll be damned
Yes, PLEASE make a Part Two!!!
How did they film the lightning sand scene? It's been bugging me for years!
basically a rubber flap that leads to a room (padded) below, covered in sand. He dives in, rubber flap gives way. Sand falls in but enough around to fill in the area. It's an old trick from waaaaaaaay back (probably silent movies used similar)
Tim Robinson read the book mentioned- it’s a good read and he does cover the sand issue. It was supposed to go down differently.
Seeing the notification for this was the best part of my day, honestly my favorite movie! 😍😍😍😍
PART TWO!
