Fun fact: the removing of the TV antennas ended up as an Easter egg in the Lego Indiana Jones game, in the Cairo level there is a secret room filled with antennas and dishes
I always question that whole "Harrison was sick so they dumped the sword fight and just shot him" line. There's a "making of featurette" on the Raiders blu-ray that's really just some home movies someone shot on set. It comes up again and again, Harrison asking the stunt coordinator "But I have a gun, why wouldn't Indiana just shoot this guy?" and the stunt coordinator deflects saying things like "he's not that kind of guy / there's no sport / it's not honorable" and Harrison retorts "No, He IS that kind of guy" I feel like whatever the excuse was, that was just Harrison getting his way.
yea but maybe HF was also heavily influenced by the fact that he really wanted to go home since he was sick. So they came up with an in-story rationale for the choice.
The novels and comics are really dark and often contradict what's in the films. In the movie after he was unfrozen, Han seemed disoriented as if he was out cold the entire time. Also, someone trapped and awake for a full year would be somewhat disturbed as soon as they're released, but Han was already making wise cracks and acting like his old self right after. Another example is that the novels/comics say Vader's suit was intentionally designed to give him constant pain and discomfort. But in the movies, Darth seems absolutely fine walking around in it, sitting, and having discussions. (The novels/comics also say his suit was temperature controlled to make him comfortable on different planets; so they even contradict themselves.) I swear, the writers of the novels/comics want to make it dark just for the sake of making it dark.
I had seen all of the "Indiana Jones" films in theaters growing up and I had found them to be most entertaining. I hope that both Steven Spielberg and especially Harrison Ford have it in them to do at least one more film with a decent plot.
@Frank Parrish no they are not . Han is smuggler who only cares about money who turns into an idealist fighting for the right thing. Indiana Jones is an intellectual who never tries to screw anybody over. He only uses his swashbuckling ways when he is forced by the bad guys.
I do love Star Wars more as a franchise than Indiana Jones, but Indiana Jones is a better character than Han Solo. But the real winner is Harrison Ford ;)
The ad before this video was for a 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' screening with live orchestra. 1) I think that's the most fitting ad to ever play before a RUclips video I've ever seen or ever will see. 2) I'd happily skip on 'Solo' and spend the money on that instead.
Would LOVE 💕 a Part 2!!!! “Raiders” is my favorite all time movie. I was 5 when “Star Wars” came out and Han Solo was my fav character. It wasn’t til “Indy & Temple of Doom” I realized I had a HUGE crush on Harrison Ford. And he is from my Home State of Illinois. Harrison Ford is is going to 77 in July and I’m 47 and still think he is the most hot male actor
Love both bit I've said with a few min of editing and trimming two scenes, temple of doom is equal and perhaps surpasses raiders. Which 2 scenes? You know which 2
Fact: My dad says that he knew Short Round's actor when he was a kid! That scene when they opened the ark scared me so much that I cried. And I was 10 years old!
Agreed. Anyone notice how when the first get underway all the bread is just chillin' hanging from the bulk head and as the film progresses, it's all greeeeen and moldy. Brutal conditions. Imagine the smell! Diesel and Dude funk.
My parents were involved in some of the animal handling, they provided some of the snakes (including the King Cobra, which I remember as a child living in our front room) and the monkey (Snuff) was sadly put down due to biting the handler badly.
then there's that comic where the falcon crashes on earth, Han dies and 126 years later Indiana turns up looking for Sasquatch (Chewie) and finds Hans body
Penitent Man not for everyone. The entire USA population does not live Star Wars. Indiana Jones is cooler than Ham Solo when push comes to shove as they say
Even more things about Indiana Jones: - Most of the rats in the tomb scene of Crusade were water resistent animatronics. A few were real trained ones. - Belloq's head explosion pushed Raiders to an R rating, so they covered it up a bit with a fire filter to keep the PG. - Temple of Doom was the movie that created the PG-13 rating. The heart ripping scene was a discussion for the system. - Temple of Doom is a prequel to Raiders. Yes, a lot of people don't know that, which is a surprise to me. - In the snake scene of Raiders, where Indy faces a cobra front to front, there is a glass between the snake and Indy for safety. - The people that are slightly represented in Temple of Doom are the Thuggee. This was a sect within the Indian subcontinent (the part where India meets Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) that had the habit of traveling along other travelers and then rob and murder them, mostly by strangeling. The Thuggee were mostly Hindu's or Muslims and both prayed to the godess Kali. They were very hard to recognize and to find since Thugs never wore weapons, made music during their killing sprees, mauled the bodies of their victims to prevent identification and burned undesired belongings of their victims. A little surprising how nothing of this is portrayed in the movie Temple of Doom. Most inthere is just made up.
Actually they did not use wax for the melting head, but a special mix of gelatin, that melts on low temperature. The melting still lasted about ten minutes, so they had to speed up the whole scene. Still looked pretty amazung.
Masterfully organized and written content. The facts are fun, but the segues and bonus content transitions are just brilliant and really dial this up to 11.
Vies, Did you know that, while the fancy scooter is spelt "Segway," the rhetorical transition is traditionally spelt "segue"? I learnt that very late in life myself!
jalabi99: Certainly, you cannot deny that it is the traditional spelling, though, so at best, your "No" is misguided. Still, I was beïng cautious, since in some cases a new spelling may become the accepted form, e.g. "flour" replacing "flower" 200 or so years ago. I didn't do any research to see what that majority of style guides were recommending these days; may I be so bold as to assume you saved yourself this step as well?
I did what any normal person would do -- I consulted the dictionary. www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/segue The word is correctly spelled "segue", and has been since its introduction to the English language circa 1740. My "no" is anything but misguided, and your argument is wholly invalid. Good day, sir.
Wow, that was really uncool of IGN to do that. I get that making a trivia video isn't a unique concept but they stylised it the exact same way you've been doing it for years. Your videos are still much better though, I've loved your content since I first saw it long ago.
7:25 the melting flesh effect was achieved with gelatin instead of wax. Not only because it melted quicker, but it melted more thinner and looser than wax
I thought I saw something familiar in the background...so smart! Han Solo, Indiana, and Decker are all awesome! I never get over it. Somebody should call the Guinness Book of World Records~
I remember having the original trilogy on vhs recorded from tv on one tape, Temple Of Doom had about a minute missing during he mine chase and I never saw that missing minute until they came out originally on dvd! I remember feeling complete when I finally saw it ha!
Yes but it deviated from the theme of the previous 2 movies ! it simply went from History and the Heavenly forces that battle for supremacy, to Ancient Aliens ... Most likely influence from the History Channel , Ancient Aliens ! It pretty much went off topic for an indiana movie !
It's not great, but, there are far worse movies. It's meant to be a 50's B movie because of the time period. The previous installments were based on 30's serial films

I just watched Raiders the other day and was amazed how well it aged!
i have the same thing every time i watch one of the first 3 indy films

@@stella.201 I don’t it, but I definitely don’t love it either. I don’t watch it nearly as much as the other

FiveThree Zero 42, probably.

FiveThree Zero Ender's Game.
I could honestly say the same about Tom Cruise.
Stephen Carroll Because Tom Cruise does his own stunts.
The Star Wars novels confirm that Han was in a state of constant asphyxiation and awake for the full year he was frozen in carbonite.
The novels and comics are really dark and often contradict what's in the films.

i agree but han still is awesome
Indy is a far superior character

There's enough Indiana Jones trivia for at least 4 more videos
Yeah, there were at least nine things mentioned here that I didn't already know.
Part 2? Yes please!
Honestly, I rather rewatch the original Indiana Jones trilogy than Solo this weekend...
TSF Var I'd rather watch anything other than any of the new Star wars films.
Okay, Rambo.

I still want one more, good, Indy movie. To END the franchise.
Oh, Crystal Skull ended the franchise all right.
Road Glider - Indiana Jones and the rest of the world.
Road Glider well you're in luck because they're making a fifth with Ford and Spielberg.
I am afraid that would be Indy escaping the retirement home in search of decent tapioca pudding... kinda.
The next one is July 10 2020, hopefully it’s a home run
You need to do a whole episode on the Wilhelm Scream.
You chose wisely
