In the Iconic British war song Vera Lynn gave hope and inspiration to the troops "we'll meet again some sunny day". A reunification young Pink would never have - his father having been killed in the war. Which leads directly into "bring the boys back home". A call to end all wars and the loss of life that has torn apart so many families leaving behind fatherless children like himself. You are correct.. all this is happening in flashbacks in his mind as he sits alone detached in a fog in his dressing room behind a wall of his own creation and about to go out on stage. That knock on the door... A doctor with something to get him up for the show. 💉
"Don't leave the children on their own, no no. Bring the boys back home"
I can't hear that Vera Lynn song without weeping.
Man, watched all three of these parts and YOU are incredibly insightful! I'm blown away you knew the Vera symbology on first listen!
He was comfortably numb before being given the drugs AND after being given the drugs. The only real difference is that before the drugs he couldn't even go through the motions, whilst afterwards he could. They haven't helped in any real sense. He's still numb and disconnected. They've just allowed him to go through the motions of doing the show.
Oh, that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up
Gilmore's guitar solos literally make people cry!
It's strong, isn't it? When I first heard it in 1980, I was completely shocked. And to this day it fascinates me ... A wonderful story.
Incredible journey, sonically and lyrically!
You want emotional...have a listen to The Gunners Dream from The Final Cut album.
Sutch an underrated song
