    I think Rachelle never became a mainstream vocalist because even though she could essentially do whatever she wants with her voice, her musicality wasn't palatable to the masses.

    Proving that the human voice is the number one musical instrument! 😍 Some of you are complaining that this isn't singing....the voice is a musical instrument and you can play with it to make many sounds. That's like telling a guitarist he shouldn't do finger-picking or sliding or slapping. There are many ways to make music.

      FACTS. That clip of her is from the 2010 Soul Train Awards during the Anita Baker Tribute. Can't tell you HOW MANY TIMES I've watched that. Her & Lalah Hathaway give me goosebumps every time!

    Chante Moore has a unique sound she does with her voice at the end or during certain songs. It sounds like a high whistle. She's another excellent vocalist who should be added to this list.

      @@TheBoss-vm7eh Ain't nobody saying P. Labelle doesn't rock! However she is not a singer who does intricate techniques vocally! She is a belter with extremely high range , that has darkened over the yrs. She does not run, skat, hit notes in whistle registry, her lower range definitely isn't her strong suite, no sticatto passages ... NOTHING TECHNICAL! Her only advantage is that she is a dramatic soprano therefore, her voice has [ or should I say HAD] a lot of weight with a large volume output!
      U obviously dont know anything about vocals if you think she belongs in this list of singers. Its not a bad thing, she just isn't one that uses acrobats vocally ... she doesn't need to! Patti knows how to stay in her lane. If this post was a reflection about : high notes, belting, and power she would definitely fit BUT ITS NOT!

    Omg.. I literally just put someone on to Lucresia Campbell’s “Even Me” the other day. I love Daryls and Yolandas but this rendition was very much overlooked
