I can hear the difference. In support, you can hear the voice in the back of mouth but with Resonance it sounds like it's just coming from the body. That probably doesn't make sense but I hope someone understands what I mean.

Yes! Thank you for putting that into words. I also think Support sounds smaller or restrained somehow, but Resonance sounds open, big, and like the voice is coming out in waves. Idk how to explain it.

Yea vocal nodules goes away after like a month or so, And if it does go aways after some time people get surgery to get it fixed. Thats if it doesnt end your career before tho(Some people go through a lot of mental stuff and feel defeated, thus marking the end of singing for them :/). So basically it's not an ongoing thing but it effects can be lasting but also healed with training and time.

The resonant notes sound so satisfying to my ear. They are really powerful in a natural way (opposite of pushing more chest voice to create powerful voice), they are really rich of singer’s tonality and they spread out into space like warm sunshine
My favorite notes here are Sohyang’s D5, Bb4 from Jung Dongha

The phrase my vocal teacher always told me was “RELAX YOUR THROAT and exhale into your singing.” It took me a lot of time to fully understand but when I did, it was like a door opening and suddenly it made all the sense of the world. This video really shows it well.

Chen going against chen and one of D.O.'s best solo performances for sure, but yeah you really do hear the difference, singers with resonance have a much clearer, smoother sound and they tend to be able to hold it for longer. Also, they appear to strain much less so yeah it looks "effortless" which I assume is due to their good technique.
Honestly though seungkwan is more than capable of resonance. He's proved it so many times he even resonated up to A4 multiple times!

I’ve noticed that resonance is used by older people/groups. Is there a reason? Or is it because the new groups are young and don’t know how to do it yet??
I'm not a vocal expert but I would say it generally comes with experience, also new groups tend to have more comebacks so my not have the time to really train their vocals, just my thoughts though

there are plenty of new generation groups with young vocalists that produce resonance too, like Seungkwan, Seunghee, Yuju etc. It just depends on how well they've been trained, not how long they've been in the industry :)

I find it funny because the range at female singers stops at D5 probably because it is hard to find example of singers who can support and resonate Eb5 and above. Well the legends such as Sohyang and the others are exceptional tho.
tom jerry there are plenty actually, but it's hard to find just supported examples up there since basically all that support that high also resonate consistently :)

leili azari the first one is obviously sounded more closed & tense. Just listen carefully, the 2nd one is a lot more openned & relaxed.

Support is adequate vocal fold pressure and mass, created by breath management techniques.
Resonance is when the sound created by two areas of the vocal tract, (1) the space between the top of the vocal cords and around the base of the tongue, and (2) the space around the tongue and palate, are brought closer together in pitch:
Space #(1) is made slightly smaller by making sure you're not pushing ur larynx too far down, which raises its pitch to about 2600-2800 hertz, and then space #2 is made bigger (lowering its pitch slightly down to around 2900-3100hertz). This amplifies the loudness of that particular frequency range, creating a ring that's louder than either of the two spaces could create on their own.
It used to be called "witch's tone" bc it was so loud and clear (and unique) that it was seen as vocal magic (figuratively).
What makes different singers techniques unique to them is how much of their range they can add this "tone" to-what parts of their range they can sing with a slightly depressed but still relatively relaxed larynx and a widened palette at the same time, which vowels they can add this "tone" to, how much they add grit (ventricular fold closure) and twang (nasality) and edge (space between the bottom of the tongue and back of the bottom row of teeth) to.
But the muscles you have to move, which needs to expand and which needs to be made slightly smaller, are the same. Vowels just change the tongue shape, which means it impacts how wide they can make the upper space.
I might have used edge and twang wrong as labels, but the spaces i mentioned (behind the bottom teeth, how much air escapes through the nose) are the other muscles involved.
"Formant constructive interference at around 3000hertz" (kilohertz? sry, i can't remember, but it's 3000 definitely, for most voices) is what it is.
Sadly, the word "resonance" outside of vocal technique jargon could refer to any uniqueness of a voice, so it gets jumbled up in vocabulary.

I think vowel modification is key to good resonance. Some singers really stick with the hard "i" sound (i as in sit) and it makes it difficult to resonate

Resonance comes from different techniques tho. Nasal aound can also be resonanced that's why some singers sound so sharp while singing because their resonance are nasally produced.

I think their vocal trainer is scared that they will strain. Yes, they might be doing it right but it's better to be safe because Wendy had vocal nodules and they are scared for a change. Hopefully it'll change but support is already good enough.
Amanda Silva resonance is like the next step after support. support is needed for a singer for healthy singing. when you are able to support a note, then the next step is to try to make it resonant. that means that it's more opened and also sounds better. many people, like wendy, are very good vocalists with a good sense of support but they can't produce resonance because they are not as opened as they should be.
Wendy already manifests occasional resonance. It's just inconsistent
