《 SUPPORT VERSUS RESONANCE | G#4 - Bb5 | KOREAN FEMALE VOCALISTS 》

- Note by note comparison of supported singing versus resonant singing from female Korean vocalists.
DESCRIPTION
SUPPORT: Using proper breathing techniques to ''support'' the voice, achieved by using the diaphragm to control the airflow against relaxed, connected vocal cords, favourably unobstructed by tension or at most hindered by tension to as little a degree as possible. This creates a healthy, open sound when done correctly. Support is desirable for anyone who wishes to sing as supported singing provides vocal longevity, greater creativity, etc. for the vocalist.
RESONANCE: The optimum sound a vocalist should focus on when singing. It is a full, clean and round sound that won’t sound thin, constricted or small in any way. A vocalist who’s resonant will use different types of placements, i.e. their voice will be placed either in their chest, head or mask (cheekbones area, not nose) to project their voice, in each individual register. A vocalist may be able to be resonant in their mixed voice by normally placing their voice in their mask with chest resonance, or as they go higher, with head resonance.
It is worth noting that although resonance is always going to be a projected sound, loud singing does not necessarily equate to a truly resonant one, because a loud sound may still be pushed and strained. You may project but still have tension, but in true resonance, tension should not be present in any form. Resonance is produced when the vocalist is able to support their voice. In other words, they have developed vocal cords that are able to connect fully in a healthy manner, without breathiness coming between them nor too much constriction, against the right amount of air pressure. Then the supported sound is enhanced with the proper placement of sound while keeping the soft palate lifted, the larynx position not high, the swallowing muscles, jaw, tongue and throat relaxed and the jaw dropped so as to amplify the sound of the voice. The combination of an open throat, support, relaxed singing and proper placement is what creates healthy resonance in singing.

sohyang: she transplanted at another level :)
I love how most if not all of these kind of vids end with SohYang. She is the epitome of excellent vocal technique. Anyone knows if she shares (teaches) her technique with popular idols?
this is very very late but she is a vocal coach, but i don’t think she teaches idols.
If Sohyang teach a kpop idol, they’d be at least Lily’s level haha
SoHyang be like : Okay Kid, let me teach you how to Resonance that high
Yuju Rest Well🥺🥺🔥✨
Woah Wendy’s C5 sounds more resonant in the fancam than the other video 3:56
I don't know if you heard but most kpop perfomances are autotuned so it's better to check the fancam vids
@@GamesLover-sj2rs its not autotuned but the back track are louder than the sound from the mic so its hard to hear their live voices
2:00 song?

yuju always the best of her resonance
sohyang never fails to amaze me
Hwasa surprised me! One of the most open notes I've heard from her. Solji's C#5s were strained.
DIA, Yeonji, Lina, Younha and Haeri slayed! And of course Sohyang and Seungyeon with their amazing belting techniques.
1:22 seunghee has such a beatiful sound

@@viettrungang6638 great
0:42 the way she completely drowned that guy out! that's definitely one way to tell if they're resonant or not xD
Agree, but still I have to point out that she has a natural edge there. Sounds with higher frequency appeal more to the human ears than the lower ones.
the beginning of yg’s main vocalist>>>>
5:49 &. 5:59 my fav support and resource note by bada the mother.
6:41 younghyun and haeri too
7:03 Yeonji and Lina’s vibrato>>>>>>>>>>

People need to stop using Taeyeon's Baby Baby C#5 lol it's soooo old. She has so many other recent resonant C#5s.
Been saying since for years.
Holy crap Lina’s D5’s are like the best D5’s I’ve ever heard
blessed our ears
I'm surprised with Yuju
You see? Sohyang Resonance C#6!!

Lee Younghyun : Good - Great Vocalist
SoHyang : No.1 Vocalist in Korea
These kpop stans rlly don't know what they're talking about resonance and support💀
If you're making this kind of vids again please can you use yuju highnote in love and remember(immortal songs) and butterfly where she used to sing with other idols🙏😊
7:55 That's sohyang too! 😂
No íts lee younghyun, just because in diva's project videos when lee younghyun hit that notes and sohyang just appeared in video doesn't mean sohyang hit it its lee younghyun, but sohyang can go higher

So you can still support your voice without resonance? i thought if you support your voice well it'll resonate automatically too. am i wrong?
You're right, you can support with no resonance, and to have resonance you need to be great at support
Proud to my Rose’
Solji's C#5 - supported? Excuse me? Where
Strain a lot
Support + throatiness
its (very)rare for a pop idol to use resonance
some of the supported notes are strained. just some.
Wheein's C#5 isn't resonant
yeah neither of mamamoo has true resonance tbh, they all just have open vowels
Lina. I missed her
If you don't mind, may I ask one more question? Was this A2 at 1:47 of this video supported?

What a jarring way to start the video with Rose. But queen Sohyang decimated everyone else. It’s quite insulting to true vocalists to see Blackpink even near this video.

Most of those notes aren't supported, for example rosé hani sejeong Kang dira, wendy's C#5 and so many more and wendy's C5 wasn't resonant I'd dare even to say the support was shallow
do you know what you're talking about? Wendy's C5 was so open, one of the best she's done, it was definitely resonant. and the others were in fact supported. she has consistent support up to C#5/D5
You're so clueless
Lmao learn vocal lesson before commenting sis😂😂
You're hopeless already. You even dare to analyse vocal techniques without understanding it one bit.
Rose never supported anything haha y'all tripping
She does have the ability to support with her abdominal and lower back muscles, it’s just sometimes drowned out by the excess squeezing she does to create her timbre, adding tension where she doesn’t need it. That closed-off approach to singing is the reason that she’s never resonated, even when supporting. Her A3/B♭3-A4 range (and occasionally B♭4) is where she has enough ease to let her support through without squeezing too much. She’s not as consistent as a formally trained vocalist, but she has the foundation.
she has supported range
She has a full and solid support
What you talk about
A3/Bb3 _A4/Bb4 says hi
@@soujoudlouhichi9695 only barely 1 octaves? See SoHyang she has 3 octaves of support

Sohyang has a wonderful technique and resonance. I'm not sure what you're trying to go off of but you just seem to be uneducated
Awfully beautiful that’s for sure
Kim Sohyang beats them all. Don’t be mad Sohyang, the queen of near-perfect technique and top world wide vocalist dogshit all over your trash Rose. She needs to change her name into Dumpster Fire because that’s how Rose sounds
