I appreciate your content. MRC. Im currently working on my 200e i bought to part out for my 200m. But found out that the motor is good(through watching your video) so just decided to work on it and dissemble to... as you like to put it in you videos "understanding how it works to understand what it does". Thanks brother
I have seven ATCs I love your videos, very informational, to the point, every time I do a build, I find myself watching 4-5 of your videos, thanks for putting them in segments, thanks for being to the point
Great video, I'm restoring a 1985 honda atc 200m and went to install the all balls steering kit but purchased the wrong one 😢, make sure you get the 22-1002!
Thank you. I really needed this video. Have never ever messed with steering bearings and you gave me the confidence to just knock it out now. Putting a 200x front end on my 250sx. - Tim
That's a common and very good swap, you gain better suspension, skinny tires, alluminum wheel and disc brakes. Awesome. Thanks for watching and sharing
Thank you for making this video. I am right in the middle of doing the exact same swap on my '84 200es. I was a bit confused about whether that shim came of the 200m stem before installing the All Balls kit. You cleared all that up for me. Thanks so much!!
Doing this now, but on my 1983 200E Big Red and with 185S/200S forks. Same concept, just even more narrow forks than the M. My welding sucks, so imm have to grind and maybe slap some bondo on it to make them look better at 1st glance lol.
You may need to swaps tank or use bar risers to clear the bigged 200e tank with that front end. Other than the 8 inch ft tire its a better option than a broken factory 200e front end for sure.
Fantastic details. Got so much information I had to take notes since I loose power and internet pretty often. On plastic seat bases, when I can't come up with a proper cover I use FX all grip material 36x54 inch sheets for about $40 and I get either 2 or 3 seats out of it. They come in black, blue and red. E-Bay is my source but it's in the Parts Unlimited catalog when I'm at a dealer. Many thanks sir, and always look forward to the next vid.
Really great video. I appreciate the doing that all that takes. Cool to see old parts come together to make a huge improvement on a great machine. Thanks ! 👍🙂
Looks good but why didn't you put a grease fitting in the fork tube, I put one in my 85 250sx when it was pretty new and greased it and it still has the origional ball bearings in it
Hey Daver681, that surely is an option, i see having to fill most of the stem with grease to lube the upper bearing, i guess thats why Honda didnt do it. These bearings will last many years with a good packing, i dare say i will ever have to service them again. Thanks for watching.
I got a decent 250ES Big Red but no tank no plastics engine needs work but frame is good forks are good wire harness is good swing arm is good rear end is good got a decent headlight I have been trying to decide if I want to keep it and try to fix it or trade it off for some parts
You have a big decision to make, fenders, tank and seat are you most expensive parts, try to find a parts bike with at least good fender or a usable tank, otherwise it could be a costly build if you opt for NOS parts or even aftermarket, maier fenders a clarke tank will set you back around $800 plus, so way out your options. There great bikes, if you choose to fix it.
Yeah one of the people that had it before me unless it out in the weather and I have to drop the engine in some apple cider vinegar to get everything cleaned there's rust it's not bad but there's rust and it's froze up so it needs all new bearings needs a new piston and piston rings I have the seat for it I just have to get it from my buddies house if you remember I fond of order she probably seen it already but yeah I need almost everything I'll probably just make some plastics for it out of some plastic barrels or something like that and a heat gun I do know somebody with a old big red that's been sitting for a pretty long time has a broken rear axle if I could get it off them I can just use this one as a parts bike
Thank you for this video ! I bought my first ATC (Honda of coarse) this April. Its a 1983 200 but there are no letters after the 200. mine does have the alum. fork tube suspension. I don't think the front end has been swapped or changed, will this bearing kit you used in this video work on my ATC. P.S. I look up my VIN # to find out about my ATC and the motor # matched the year and the 200 is all that it listed for my VIN. do you know how many different 200's they made in 1983 ? Thanks for any help !
Sounds like you have a 83 Atc200. No letters after the 200, just a Atc200. I have had a couple. Nice machines. I believe it's the precursor to the 200s.
I am planning to do this conversion on my 84 Big Red! I was wandering if the ATC200s suspension and axle would fit on a Big Red brake drum and wheel hub? The 200s and 200m front suspension looks similar but reversed. As always great content and information cheers for Quebec!
The 200s drum and hub will not fit the 200es. The 200s has an 8 inch wheel, different bolt patter and the forks are narrower than the 200m and 200es. You 2 best swap options are the 83 Atc200 or the 85/86 200m. Both have suspension, 9inch wheels and front brakes. Both also share the same bolt pattern as your 200es. Thank you for watching and subscribing to the channel
Really glad I found your channel, I can't get enough of honda 3 wheeler content. I've got a few 200 and 250cc machines. I had a question maybe you could help me with. I have an 84 trx200 which you know is Hondas 1st quad. I'm having trouble finding replacement bearings for the neck...I think it may be individual balls but I have not torn into it yet but its dangerous to ride the way it is. Appreciate any info. Thx bro
Goto partzilla.com, look up your machine, it may be individual balls, the 3 wheelers are. Take that part number and put it in google/ebay or amazon. See if you can find a captured ball bearing like the ones from all ball bearings.
Hey man , just subscribed to your channel, absolutely love it , brings back so many memories of seeing all the bikes that I remember as a kid , keep the videos coming

Hey I’m trying to rebuild my own 185 and I’m trying to put the forks back on…the link in the description has slightly different bearings not sure if it’s been updated since this video came out…my question is will this still work?
Hi, I am putting a 200s front end on my 110 and it fits but the top bridge plate is missing so I bought a 200s and it dose not fit I thought I had a 200s front fork but after seeing this video I might have a 200m front fork so I need a 200m top plate? what year do you think I need I do not know the year they came from I just got the front end from a swap meet?
@@stevenpleasant5834 the 200s would have a 8 inch front tire and a smaller bolt pattern than a 200m. You will need a 200m hub and axle to work. The 200m was only made 2 years 84 and 85. Either top plates will work
@@Mrcbuilds Hi, ok thanks for getting back to me on this so how do I know what front end I have I have bought two different top plates and they do not fit the last one I got the two outer 12mm bolts looks like the will line up but the stem hole is off it is to far in and will not fit down on forks.
Hi do all balls make a front bearing kit for the Honda 200x front stem for the forks and do you know if the 200x front end will fit on a 200 or 200s.thanks for your info.
Hi steven, the entire line up of 200cc and 185cc necks are the same, as I understand it the same kit fits all of them and you can swap front ends across the entire group of machines 185, 185s, 200, 200x, 200e, 200es
@@Mrcbuilds tried both ways but they don't seem to go any farther. Maybe I need to beat them a bit harder and thanks, your such a nice guy to reply back 😎
If your new to mechanics, I would leave bottom end work to the pros. If you want to tackle it. I would reccomend, Honda Brand bearings, if your going to go that far, you should put in the best parts you can. I would download the repair manual, print it out and order up the parts, clear off a big table and lay everything out as you take it apart. You will need a few special tools, a bearing press and snap ring plyers. A good gasket kit will help as well. Take your time and you will be fine.
Just to clarify in my mind, the 1984 200ES front axle hub and brakes will fit onto the 1985 200M front forks? I’m looking at a 1985 200M front end but it doesn’t have the axle and other hardware with it, just want to make sure if I can use my 1983 200ES front axle and everything. Sorry for the dumb/basic question, I don’t trust myself..lol. 😏
I suggest using all of the 200m. Axle, hub, spacers, brake, everything. Its been 2 years since i made that video, i can not remember 100%. I do not think the parts are interchangeable.

I bought a new fender for my 200s i was wondering the best way to slide the brake cable through? Disconmect from bottom or top?
It would be easiest to loosen and disconnect from the top then pass it through the fender. Reason the lower adjuster bolt easily gets cross threaded
